  1. The committee is going to have us jump Oregon on Tuesday. They have the datapoints they need to do it now and they aren’t braindead like the coaches poll where one team loses and everyone moves up one spot. They will reorder when needed.  This whole thing is run by the TV Illuminati, which bodes well for Texas in most cases.

The obvious path to the cfp is an FSU loss, everyone knows that. But absent that, I actually think our next best path is Oregon beating UW in the pac12 champion game, especially if we pass them this Tuesday like I think we will. Oregon and the defunct pac12 will get fucked, not Texas.

Why? Why play an in state team in non conference that's going to make you their super bowl and use it to recruit against you if they win when you're playing an SEC schedule and there's a 12 team playoff? Honestly, starting next year there's ZERO reason to play anyone but tune up preseason type games in non conference. UTEP, Rice, Texas St, North Texas and a revolving slate of directional Louisiana teams should be the non cons every season in the new format. With the playoff and prospect of playing 3+ playoff games at the end of the season you don't want to wear out on tough teams early anymore.

    Meh. Maybe.
but my ass is going to Ann Arbor next year, because that game will be the tits

Apologies for not keeping up with all the machinations.  A question:

-- if Texas beats Tech, do any of the 3 teams with 2 losses control their own destiny (i.e., a win gets them in regardless of what the other two do)

Yes*, Okie lite owns h2h over both kstate and dirt burglars

*the big12 has reserved the right to do whatever the fuck they want by drafting this shit so poorly

That's because everyone is anchoring to what Georgia was and not what they are. They are pushing a narrative to get clicks and views and isn't rounded in reality.

Georgia is in the same boat as Michigan in that their schedule is trash. That likely keeps them out if they don't win the conference title game.

So you’re saying there’s a chance…. Nobody is banging on the table saying with 100000% certainty that Bama and Georgia are both in with a bama win. Just that things get really fucking dicey.

I envy those that don’t have to live life with PTSD from the 2008 fuckery.

Oh, and Oregon is beating up on a bunch of bad teams and has only played one good team, Washington, and lost that one.  I find it interesting that the committee would throw out head to head (UT versus Bama) and SOS (UT versus Oregon) and just go with the eye test.  It wouldn’t shock me but it’s fucked up.

So long as Horns win by more than 8 against tech, I suspect the committee will move us ahead of Oregon after this weekend citing similar records and performance against common opponents.
