I can't afford an electric car, but I'm looking to buy a car this summer that gets twice the mileage or more than our cars do now. That would halve my main carbon output which is a goal for 2030 that the world has neither the desire or the decency to achieve.

I definitely understand budget constraints. I was privileged enough to get a decent paying job in the past couple of years and bought a used 2019 Chevy Bolt since it's one of the cheaper EVs with a decently long-range battery. It's ugly (the newer ones less so, but Chevy is discontinuing it in favor of the Equinox) but it pairs well with having a regular hybrid, my wife's car, or something else where you won't have to worry about stopping for long-ish periods of time on big road trips. You generally have to pay more for registering your vehicle since the state doesn't get any gas tax off of it, but you make that up quickly in saving on actual gasoline, especially now that I'm in the PNW where gas is like a dollar or more than TX and the South East.

The used models really aren't that expensive now either, but it does cost some to add a dedicated circuit and charging unit in your home if you want that even with rebates. I've done that twice now though since I moved from Georgia (where I bought the car) to Oregon.

Why aren't we putting the daughter on blast? She's an adult.

Rarely post here anymore because all it does is just piss me off with the state of everything, but fuck this piece of shit, her evil mother, A&M, and everyone else in this story that immediately threw this professor under the bus. It's easy to just say fuck Aggy but god damn I'm even disgusted at how spineless everyone in this story is.

  3. The free market in action, solving all of our problems! Remember that Government regulation couldn't address this problem the way smart and very serious and not extremely evil CEOs could.

  4. Anyone else see Harris rob Schwarber of a HR? Good lord is that guy athletic.

Bought my first ever jersey (this year's city connect Braves jersey) and took my wife to her first Braves game at Truist a couple weeks ago as we're actually about to move from the Atlanta metro area to the West Coast in a couple of weeks.

  5. This shit with Target feels bleak. I understand not wanting your extremely low-paid teenage employees to feel threatened, but you know DAMN good and well this kowtowing is only going to embolden fascists.

Godspeed. I'd like to do the same at some point but we're kind of tied in to Dallas due to my wife's relationship with her in-laws as they move into their late 70's. I've got one kid about to be a senior in HS and another who is a freshman. Once they're both out of HS, it makes it easier for us to consider leaving too.

I understand, if our daughter was several years older it would probably be a lot more difficult. Thankfully she is still fairly young and extremely extroverted compared to me and my wife and can adapt to a big change easier right now.

My mother is in bad shape physically but not quite on death's door. My dad is her caregiver, but he's so incredibly stubborn that he's refusing to make the big changes now that will make their lives easier when she really becomes debilitated over the next few years, like outright refusing to have us pay for a geriatric care manager. I just went through some very rough shit with my MIL and my BIL suddenly fighting every decision my wife was making despite never coming to really see her. I feel guilty about moving almost 3000 miles away but I just don't have the patience and energy with a young kid right now to push my dad to get them out of their house. I was more or less a single dad for my daughter for most of 2020-2022 while my wife cared for her mother then battled severe depression after her death, I'm emotionally tapped out for a while.

Sorry for the look-at-me venting, but it's been a shitty two and a half years and my wife and I are basically ready to start a new and hopefully different chapter in our lives.

We have a decent percentage of posters on this site that would agree with a lot of what’s posted over there. They’re just smart enough not to come in here and post it.

I haven't posted on here much in the past couple of years, but yes Shaggy and early Surly a ton of these posters, who are still posting, made it very clear that their right to own guns trumped all, including dead kids.

It's fucking insane, most people and tons and tons of gun owners and enthusiasts want these things banned, yet it feels like we will never be able to achieve this.

Nah, Falcons will have Bijan, Allgeier, and Patterson next year.  And Allgeier is signed through '25.  Even with a rush-heavy attack they shouldn't have to run Bijan into the ground.

Patterson carried so much of the workload in 2021 and the beginning of 2022, but I think this pick signals they won't use him nearly as much unless Bijan really struggles somehow adapting to the game. Allgeier started getting tons of carries and started eating into Patterson's workload it felt like.

carter would have bad news in Atlanta

You've no idea how many UGA fans hate the Falcons because they almost never select Dawg players in the first two rounds. This was basically the reverse of the Falcons passing on Todd Gurley several years ago when he was available.

Definitely seemed like he was outcoached.  That Miami team was different. Never panicked. When poplar ran into press row he helped clean the mess up.  Composed

I also think the refs fucked us

Didn't help that they hit god damn near every single free-throw in the last ten minutes too.
