  1. What does that indicate when we have players "KNOWN" for playing defense? It suggests that defense is not a priority. The offense appears to be more valued, as players are rewarded and praised for scoring rather than for their defensive efforts. If a player is scoring, it seems they are not held accountable for repeatedly missing defensive assignments. So why play defense? When players like Marks, Larry, Kent, or others play defense, and their teammates miss their defensive assignments, gaps are left in the defense, making it appear that everyone is out of position. If you are scoring, this seems acceptable because scoring is the system. Defense may have been a priority at their previous schools. A player is considered a "great player" if they can score, even if they lack defensive skills. Pope is an "EXCEPTIONAL SHOOTER," I thoroughly "ENJOY" watching him play. However, RT has acknowledged in an interview that Pope struggles with defense. Don't get me wrong. While scoring is essential, I strongly believe in playing defense. It is challenging to stop the other team without making defense a priority. As the previous comment mentioned, "that is pure coaching." Some may have just been recruited to score, but we must still play defense.
  2. This has been the offense the entire time: create your own shot with no offense.
  3. Hero Ball! One of the commentators in a prior game said Texas plays "My Turn" ball. You shot it last time; it's my turn. Some of these guys can shoot the ball, even though it's a tough shot most of the time, because there's no offense to get them open. They can score but then give up points on the other end with no defense. I guess it's ok to give up shots as long as they are making shots, and that's on the coaches. We had eight assists; six were in the first half, and Arthur and Larry had 3. Then two in the second half. This shows you the team plays Hero ball and My Turn ball. We won, though, so the coaches are good.
  4. I must agree. This team can't practice on the defense because they are too busy figuring out the offense. Their system is to get the ball, shoot, and score. Let's go ISO or hero ball when the offense gets stagnant.
  5. I hate this for Larry and Pope because they looked good with their previous teams, which ran a "GREAT" offense.
  6. Hunter is in a different offense.
  7. Yes, this ship has sailed, but I wonder why they left. I like Pope, and it's baffling why his numbers have declined within this offense. He primarily played off the ball at Oregon State rather than in the PG position. We can't blame Pope, but he is coming around. Although there are no sets to get the guys open for a good shot, I say he's doing well.
