The difference is that Hawkette doesn’t have a suit of armor or super DNA or is an actual god or have radioactive spider powers. She’s just a college girl who somehow beats up an entire gang of criminals. It’s dumb.

It’s Marvel. It’s a metaverse where peak human condition from training can go toe to toe with Cap, at least for a little while.

there really is only 1 debate.

which is the best cold war movie?

and there are only 2 correct contenders.   Red Dawn and Rocky 4.     everything else is wrong.

I think a tougher debate would be identifying bad Cold War movies. There are many bad Cold War movies qua movies, but bad Cold War movies?

Deloitte University in Westlake has super good food. That's all I got on that because I'm not a Texas Ranger or Dallas Cowboy and don't live there.

They opened DU right after I left. A high school friend is a chef up there, so it’s good to hear that the food is good.

I think Klein went to tcu.  None of those guys amounted to much but Klein had a decent ish run and there were rumors he was Katie Holmes side guy while he was married to cruise

He did got to TCU. One of my math professors liked to regal us with the tale of how he cut Klein no slack for having to miss class for shoots.

  5. Haven’t watched reality tv in years, but it was always something to watch with my wife (or ex-wife years ago). Storage Wars and Flipping Vegas because of the characters. Just about any kind of shit when I was young, from the Simple Life to the Surreal Life. Again, it was because of the characters. Switched to YouTube for reaction vids, primarily the Irish Try channel, Reactistan, or various vocal coaches or other musicians. It was the characters.

My only advice would be to get it at or under 20 minutes and stream it. My wife and I don’t have time for binging most days, unless it is just background noise.

He wasn’t and he was. Our big donors allowed Mack to crash the program into the mountain. They were fine as long as they had the access they craved.

Sorry, was thinking of Red and Charlie. This is almost exactly like late stage Mack except even Mack would take drastic steps like bring in Robinson(?) to help with the defense.

  7. No, because, apparently, the TCU BMDs don’t have an issue with losing or a rapidly emptying stadium. Like if Red hadn’t been pissed about losing because he was still getting handjobs from Mack. That’s TCU’s situation.

The most recent Below Decks was more tame, focused, and generally better. Unlike the Orville, it doesn’t feel like TNG. It has some very funny bits, like the first Holodeck scene. The gag could work in the TNG universe, but it needs a subtle, straight man set up.

I watched it. The Orville exists and is way better. Hopefully the first episode was egregiously over-the-top because the writers haven't found their groove. Don't have much hope of that.

I watched the third Lower Decks episode last night. There are some funny bits. I like the voice cast and the animation. The problem is that it lacks subtlety and feels more like a ham-handed deconstruction of the ST:TNG universe than a comedy set in that universe. "The Problem with Edward" is an excellent example of how to make comedy work while staying true to the feel of Star Trek.

So I'm continuing to watch Lower Decks. It's getting slightly more serious, but less funny. Like they burned through all the best bits already. It's also seems to be turning into a PG ST YA fanfic.

A year later, my posts don’t always hold up well. The writers found their groove and became less bombastic. It is working.

  9. About a decade ago, my wife did the opposite of what everyone suggests. She’s a teacher and her school was being shutdown, so she jumped at the first in-district job she was offered. A day later, an honors magnet school came calling. She did what she thought was best; she stayed true to her word. It was the worst two-year experience of her working life.
