Oh please, people are still pining for Barnes and following Tennessee around like they've been fans of the ugly orange their whole lives.

I see that Tom Penders is available and well rested.

  2. As with all things Basketball, it largely depends on what rules you're playing under.  Steph isn't a game changer if he was playing in the 80s, even if he wanted to put up as many 3s as possible.

I'd pick Wilt as the best offensive player ever based on the type of rule changes they made to stop him. Among other things, I believe they widened the lane and banned dunking on Free Throws to stop Wilt.  For Jordan, the NBA got $mart and changed defensive rules to showcase him.

Lots of repetition in this list, but this is what I've got, in no particular order:

    1) Rock Around the Clock - Bill Haley and the Comets

    2) Jailhouse Rock - Elvis

    3) Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry

    4) Good Vibrations - Beach Boys

    5) Like a Rolling Stone - Dylan

    6) Hard Day's Night - Beatles

    7) Sympathy For the Devil - Stones

8  Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream

    9) All Along the Watchtower - Jimi

    10) Rock and Roll - Zeppelin

    Honorable Mention:

    Substitute - The Who

    Money - Pink Floyd

    Mean Streets - Van Halen

Foot Stompin' Music - Grand Funk Railroad

I'm sure I'll think of others later.

Are you sure you want to include Mean Streets on that list?  It's so much newer than the rest of the music; maybe it needs to age-up a little to make sure it stands the test of time.

    EARLY 80s even.

Damn the Rod Stewart thing is a blast from the past. I was in the 7th grade in '79-'80 and I remember hearing kids talking about it and thinking "What does that mean, how is that possible?"    Young me didn't know about a lot of things.

As to how it started:   https://www.grunge.com/274444/the-strange-urban-legend-about-rod-stewart/

    Quote

It turns out that the rumor originated with his former publicist, Tony Toon, who started it as revenge after Stewart fired him. In an interview with British GQ, Stewart elaborated that Toon told the tale to a journalist, which is how it had spread, and that he'd never considered suing for slander. Stewart also shared that he fired Toon because Toon had been sharing a room with the young son of Stewart's then-wife Alana Stewart, "brought a bloke back" to the room, and accidentally awakened the boy, who saw the whole thing. Finally, Stewart pointed out that if the rumor were true, one of the sailors would have, well, surfaced by now and confirmed it. That's a good enough "reason to believe" Rod if ever there was one.

Or maybe that is just the PR damage control story.

  5. In late 2023 I bought a low-end Squat Rack, Weights, and Accessories off craigslist.  My philosophy is get the cheapest equipment that is usable to start with, and if I like the sport, move up higher end stuff.    547 days later I've logged 291 lifting workouts.  Yeah, I like lifting.

Today my new Squat Rack arrives.   FedEx need to hurry their damn truck up.

I've been doing Hypertrophy work up until now, but I'm thinking about doing a Powerlifting competition in the 2nd half of 2025, so my next Mesocycle shifts to strength workouts.

I really hate when a URL on the screen doesn't match the actual URL. In this case what looks like a twitter URL is actually a URL that opens on surlyx.com.  That's terrible and there is no good that will from that.

Two possible options would be to embedding the image from surlyx.com or make the link say surlyx.com.

Right now you have to copy that URL off the post and paste it into a browser window; that greatly diminishes that value of this thread.

    Dear God.....the comments section.

This entire country deserves to burn to the ground.  Give it back to the insects, humanity doesn't deserve it.

I'm not sure if people posing stuff like "its in the middle of nowhere how does a fire randomly start?" are really just that fucking stupid, or they're being trolls trying to stir shit up.  Either way, more people need to learn to shut the fuck up.

Zuck was caught by the cameras looking at Lauren Sanchez’s cleavage like a 12 year old because she only wore a bra to the inauguration.

Of all the things to hate on Zuck, and there are a lot, taking a peek at cleavage isn't one of them.  Any guy who says his eye has never been pulled by the gravitational-like force of cleavage, is almost certainly gay.

Damn this map makes me sick to my stomach.

    https://recovery.lacounty.gov/eaton-fire/

That's both heartbreaking and opens a serious question of how some structures survived.

Pulling a chunk out of the heart of the fire, the Red boxes are destroyed houses, green are damaged structures, and Black are undamaged. I would not have expected that many random black dots in the middle.  I'm assuming that a bunch of really smart folks are going to dig into this and understand why the undamaged ones survived.  Was it just the luck of the draw, or is there some lesson to be learned.

It doesn't change the fact that everyone of those red boxes was a home full of a families belongings; the scale is hard to grasp.

Wasn't really sure where to put this so I'm guessing this is the place.  Move if necessary.  This was a fundraiser for charity, not the school.  The amount raised is staggering for a week.

    The video below.  Uh......

I got $50 bucks that says at least one person responsible for that idea is already on the sex registry.

  11. I spent a few days in Hawaii on the way to Australia a few years ago, so that makes me an expert on all things Hawaiian.   Let me break down the issue in this thread for you:   OP likes drugs.

My professional opinion on Hawaii is that it would be a much nicer place if you didn't have to listen to that god damn Hawaiian Music _everywhere_.

Cost basis below $10?  Must be nice.

I bought in at $6.91 and it doesn't feel nice.          (On the other hand, I only bought 103 shares, so it actually doesn't feel anything at all.)

Oh Fuck me. HOLD at 11:03 Just as I posted.  That's bullshit man.

  14. About 4 years ago on a work conference call a British co-worker said something about Robbie Williams. When I responded who? He was stunned that I had no idea who the hell he was.

To make it even funnier, apparently Robbie Williams was a member of a boy band called Take That, which was apparently as big as NSYNC or backstreet boys.  I'd never heard of them either. My Brit coworker did not believe me.

Sorry man, that's just some Euro trash
