    All of these.

The guns are absolutely a problem.  But our collective psychology AROUND guns is also a big fucking problem.

As I've mentioned before, in the late 80s, I often had a gun in my car, on my high school campus.  And administration knew about it, one of them even helped us transfer (cased) shotguns between cars on a Friday afternoon before we headed off on a hunting trip.  It never occurred to us to use our guns in anger.  It just wasn't part of our collective mental toolkit.  Now, we have a whole cult that 1) has been programmed to be constantly terrified, and 2) is actually looking for a reason to use their gun "to protect myself and my castle!"

We've created a fucked up culture, and it really is a creature of the past 30 years or so.  AND, we've armed the shit out of that cult.  The poisonous tree we planted is now bearing a bumper crop of deadly fruit.

    This.

If you have ever been to Israel and spent some time in taxis you probably saw a handgun. (At least for me 20 years ago). Personal protection. No. Certain reservists were required to carry. Don’t know if law has changed. I was there for 5 weeks and we had same driver lots of days. About once a day he would get in an argument with someone on the road or walking.  Nobody was afraid cause they love to argue but nobody thinks of settling it with a gun.

Don't have to talk to anyone and easier to customize shit without talking to some idiot.

Just saw a FB post from Brett's Backyard that they are shutting down.

Never been but I’m sure it is good. Just shows how hard it is to make a great product every day and still have owners not burn out. Makes me appreciate Hutchins even more. A hard business to have long term success

I guess. I think what you said was perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate it but just stating opinions is not enough.

When you start comparing their attitudes to our founding fathers it “might” make them think a little bit more. One can hope.

That's more important than people realize.

You're obviously not going to change his mind. But he said that because he felt safe in saying it. He assumed you'd naturally agree with him, because of course everyone thinks that way. By at least challenging him (you're in an airport, so time is obviously of the essence - can't exactly ask him questions about his mindset or anything) you're letting him know that the echo chamber he lives in is not the unanimous opinion he thinks it is.

I should have said “thank god the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the constitution didn’t think like you”.

Cajun friend introduced me to the scoop of tater salad in the bowl of gumbo. Now I won't hardly eat it any other way. When I make gumbo now, I always make a potato salad. Everyone who has ever eaten it at my house first looks at the combo with a sideways glance--then wonders why it was hidden from them for so long.

    I’m not a fan.
The contrast in flavors (depending on tater salad style) just too much. To me gumbo is “rich” and rice gives a little relief. I love mustard tater salad but when I want gumbo I want nothing to get in the way of it. As usual though it is always personal preference.

Went looking for a 911 in '86. Bought a 944S off the truck instead. Sales guy said the 911 is quicker and faster, but it will beat you up.

The 944S is a touring car. You can drive it 500 miles/day back to back and enjoy the experience. Not the same in a 911.

It was a great driving car. "Drive it like you stole' it." Marvel of Engineering, and a maintenance nightmare.

If you have property in the country, you need a truck.

Off topic. Avoid if you can.
Worked with a guy who was 1st Lamborghini tech in states. He told me all about how their biggest issue was training owners how to drive them and how to maintain them. He said he told more than 1 they shouldn’t own this vehicle.
