two weeks we dive key largo on a sunday afternoon then fly fish the back country out of islamorada.  a trip I had no desire for (miami in July for a bithday no thanks) has now turned into a "fuck yeah" trip I can't wait for.

What company are diving with in Key Largo?

  2. Also if you find a breeder make sure they are a member of the national airedale club and local clubs. There are a lot of shitty breeders out there and that is a good starting point to get an idea if they are good or not.

every breeder I have dealt with has been a pain in the ass, as they want to make sure their dogs go to a good home, if is too easy you probably are not working with a good breeder.

No joke. You might remember his airedale Maggie which he lost 3 or 4 years ago and he now has Monroe. Both beautiful dogs.

1st pic is Monroe (bought from a breeder in Georgia)our current dog, second one is Jack parent old airedale (rescue) 3rd is Gretzky lost her about 6 years ago( bought from a breeder in Canada where I got my first airedale Pandora in 1990) last is Maggie (rescue) lost her 4-5 years ago.

Monroe has the best temperament of all of them and we got her from Kynas kennel in Covington Georgia

let me know if you have any questions.  Great breed but they can be a handful

Glenn said it basically a fly by wire setup. Control inputs go to a computer that sends input to the engine. He probably tried to go forward while the prop was still spinning in reverse and the computer said nope.

This is what I thought may have happened, moving through neutral too fast and the computer didn't react

Pfizer - alright there are no one way rentals available even from enterprise/avis/hertz mafia so I guess I have my answer - I have to drive back to miami.

Day 1 - Fly from AUS-> MIA land at 9:45, get rental car, hit the road by 11. Need a lunch recommendation while on the drive. Arrive around 4PM (long lunch and scenic route). Check in to hotel, take 1-2 hour nap. Hit up dive bars until 4AM and afterparty wherever if locals invite.

Day 2 - Wake up still drunk, get boozy breakfast brunch, get in the ocean or something that you can do drunk, late lunch (seafood/fresh catch shit, need recommendations), power nap, go to different dive bars until 4AM etc.

Day 3 (option A, failed mission) - Wake up near death, get an IV treatment, get a normal breakfast/brunch. Hit the road by 11, miami by 3 - turn in car and find a cool spot for dinner and/or try to fly standby back to austin.

Day 3 (option B, epic success) - Wake up plastered, but having found someone who will drive me back to miami in the car I rented for a fee. Repeat as much of day 2 as possible, leaving at 4PM, taking the power nap on the drive back to MIA, Airport dinner -> 9PM flight home.

If you are still functioning after the bars close there is a club called the Oriole Club on Simonton Street right by Front Street. I have never been there but it is apparently where all the bartenders and dancers go after shift.

I ended up booking the Islander Resort on Islamorada for 5 nights. After digging through recent reviews the past day, it seems Covid has really messed up all the resorts in general in the Keys with crappy (or no) housekeeping as most of them have complaints of having dirty rooms seem to be the common thread.  Bummer that stone crab season ends in May and damn, what happened to rental car prices?!!? $88/day out of Miami for an intermediate?

I have never stayed there but I have some friends who have and they keep going back. It is right across from Lorelei, a little touristy but not bad and they have a sunset celebration every night.

Be sure to hit the Square Grouper about a mile down the road, great food, and there are 2 breweries Islamorada Brewing and Florida Key brewing company. May not be kid friendly but you can walk to both from the Islander

Going down to Miami Beach in June with wife and 15 year old boys.  Was looking at a few days in the Keys as well but any preference to Key West over Marathon over Key Largo?  Goal is to do nothing but eat, fish, snorkel and sit by pool/water with a drink in hand.  With the teens in tow, the bar/nightlife and wife shopping scene not as important (we'll get that on Miami Beach). Looks like more and slightly cheaper housing/hotels in KL and it looks like a car rental is a must to get down to either.... I'm trying to talk myself out of the drive all the way out to KW...

I would skip Key west with Kids in tow, at least for a few more years. Key Largo has great snorkeling at John Pennekamp park. Marathon is another hour down the road and not rally worth it unless you go all the way to KW. Islamorada is great, about 10-15 miles past Key Largo so you can drive up to Key Largo for things to do but Islamorada has more of a Keys feel to it, you can go to robbies and feed the tarpon and they have a snorkel boat that goes out to Alligator Reef.

Key Largo - shortest drive, great snorkeling/diving, more of a town feel than Keys feel

Key West - great time, great bars there are some kid friendly things but mostly for 21+ crowd it is called Duval Street, not Sesame Street

Marathon - most town feel of all the keys

Islamorada - close to Key Largo if you want to do things there, more of a Keys vibe, tons of fishing,

You can't go wrong with any of the  four.

  8. Had my bike since March 2020 (got it just before shutdown), had one in my company gym since January 2020. Just about 400 rides.

    Hardest instructor definitely Kendall Tool

Robin drives me nuts with her talk, she usually has decent music and classes so I turn down instructor and up the music

Dennis Morton is good but does not put many rides out

No instructor is really bad, it just depends how hard I want to work on a given day. I usually look for a decent ride with good music

Down almost 30 lbs since I started.

Sweaty guy in pickup basketball. You know what I’m talking about. Not the normal amount that everyone sweats. The slime that covers him is astounding. The worst is when you go shirts and skins. No one wants to guard that guy.

  10. Just got back from a quick trip.

    • Parks all opened prior to posted park times, usually 30-45 minutes early
    • Masks everywhere, people compliant only saw 2 mask police
    • Magic Kingdom was empty early then got busier as the day went on
    • Got rise of the resistance boarding group, but the ride broke while we were in line and we ejected - will do it next time
    • Food was not an issue, had reservations for most meals but the mobile ordering worked well when we used it
    • Park hopper worked after 2 o'clock no issues getting into other parks
    • Ride lines weren't too bad
    • Most restaurants seem to be opened - only a few closed
    • Epcot was interesting as the let go a lot of the international workers due to COVID, our waiter at Rose and Crown was normally at Narcosis in Grand Floridian, he was not thrilled about being in the UK pavilion. Seems China,  Mexico and Japan had their normal workers.
