How the hell does OU recruit well almost every year? It’s a shithole city, shithole state, their coach is suspect, they can’t have that much NIL money, the school itself is unimpressive, the area is full of racist lugheads, there are more Karen’s per capita than just about anywhere else, the pro sports in the area are weak, it’s boring.

I think the city is way down on the list of why recruits commit to teams.  College towns are probably more fun to a lot of recruits than big cities.

I think the two most overrated things about recruiting are city and coaches influence on where the recruit signs.  I'm not saying that those factors don't come into play for some recruiting battles,  I'm just saying that they are way down on the list of where most recruit ultimately  commits.

Development is mostly BS anyway. Look at the percentage of Alabama recruits who were busts. Saban just did a good job of churning through the roster and bringing in a healthy number of replacements. They didn't have guys in their program hanging on like we did.

Not sure I agree with this.

TCU,  KSU and that type of program have made a living developing players.

Level of competition is a very valid point when it’s Traylon Shead or Jalin Conyers putting up huge numbers running in straight lines against 2A kids and then clocking 12 seconds plus in the 100m during track season.

When you see a dude making jump cuts that look like CGI effects, it doesn’t really matter what the competition is.

I saw Shead play his Sr. year,  he was good,  but   probably should have played defense in college.

It  was obvious that the best player on Cayuga's team that year was Malcolm Kennedy.  He went to aggy,  was productive and I think made it to the NFL?

Stats will get in the way of good evaluation at times.

I know UTSA's admission standards aren't exactly high, but I thought you had to have a GPA above 0.0 to get in?

I got admitted to a school in Arkansas with a 0.00 GPA.  It just happened to be the school Charlie Strong went to.

Not something I'm particularly proud of but I was able to knock out a bunch of hours in a short amount of time before I moved back to Texas.

Out of the thousands of schools in Texas there are only 12 champions. That isn't participation trophies, asshat.

    They're working on it.

I did a quick google and from 1920-1947 there was only one State Champion,  small schools only had regional championships.

I think they give 13 or 14 now counting 6 man.
