That second picture is World War I, farmers plowing up artillery fragments 100 years later type stuff. All of us here rejoice that Russia is getting turbo-fucked by the Ukrainians, me to. But Ukraine and it’s people are paying a dear, dear cost. We hear about concerns that the arms we send them could deplete our stocks. As far as I’m concerned, they’re being used for their intended purpose. Doesn’t matter if we shoot them or the Ukrainians do.21 points

So proud of my boy today, it sounds like he played well. I couldn’t watch the game because my roommate was using the TV to illegally stream Armenian soccer games but you better believe I’ll be watching in the fall. I told Hakob we’re watching the Horns even if Lokomotiv Yerevan is playing Alashkert.20 points

For any of you who have not yet, Macron won the French presidential election today. So France will stay on board with the effort and remain under NATO's unified command structure. It'll be curious to see if they step up their efforts now that worries about the election are over. With recent supplies being announced, I wouldn't be surprised if they did.17 points

I really try to consider every opinion with an open mind, realizing we all have different values, thought processes, cultures, etc. But some of you make this so fucking difficult. I am a school counselor and former kindergarten teacher. You are clueless about appropriate child development and socialization if you think kids don’t share about their homes, families and daily activities on the regular. Tell me how it would affect a student if I redirected the conversation after he or she shared about mom’s remarriage , which happened to be to another woman. Here’s a clue: it invalidates them, makes them feel like something is wrong about them. That child has just as much right to share their mom’s wedding as the child whose mom married a man . Imagine this scenario happens repeatedly throughout the child’s education—tell me about their self-esteem and sense of safety and belonging. Tell me what other students internalize when they realize this kid with the two moms is not welcome to share their life experiences. Am I to forbid them from bringing pictures for our family wall when we follow the developmentally appropriate lessons written for kindergarten? I’ve been a counselor for 16 years in areas from the RGV to The Woodlands. I promise you there are many more gay people than certain posters realize. I’m not suggesting we need in-depth discussions of the acts of sexuality in elementary school, but I’m damn sure not going to make a student feel less than their peers because a family member, or the student, likes a person of the same sex. I’m in a conservative school district outside of Austin now as a middle school counselor and my students actually approach this with way more of an open mind than some of you posting. Some random observations based on rewatching the scrimmage a couple of times. 1. I spent a fair amount of time watching Cole Hutson. I wouldn't be surprised if he grades out as one of the top linemen from yesterday, he belongs. He can always stand to be stronger but he is going to play next year. 2. When Jett Bush is on the field, nothing good happens. We must find another LB over the summer. Devin Richardson is barely ok. 3. Coburn has officially been passed by Murphy and it's not even close. 4. Neyor is as advertised. Him, Jwhit, and Worthy on the field together is nasty. 5. Terrence Brooks missed some head scratching tackles, but he was always in the right place and had some nice coverage. 6. Kitan Crawford looks like a Sunday player at safety, but our second best safety may be BJ Allen. 7. Sorrell did all of his damage against a walk on tackle, when he lined up against a scholarship guy he disappeared. 8. Dajon Harrison is likely going to be nudged/thrown violently into the portal. 9. Marcus Washington is what he is. If he sees extended targets this year then something went terribly wrong. 10. Finkley was up and down. Made some disruptive plays but also gut buried a few times by C. Jones. 11. C Jones looks much better at right tackle then left, even in pass pro. 12. Jonathan Brooks is going to be a star after this season. 13. Card moves the offense really well provided he is able to stay on script. If he is on time, then he looks pretty good, but when something happens he falls apart. 14. Ewers is much more natural and decisive in the face of pressure, but some of those decisions may not always be right. The amount of velocity he gets from those arm angles is insane, to the extent that he needs a bit more touch on some shorter throws. Had he done that he would have completed 4 or 5 more passes yesterday. And yes, his downfield throws are amazing. 15. For all of the talk about Ovie this spring, he was non existent yesterday. 16. JT Sanders is going to be a difference maker. 17. Billingsley looked like he was loafing initially, but on further review I think he was expecting quick whistles on some of his catches after contact that he didn't get. 18. I know our starting receivers are really good, but they were open far too often in man coverage. Jerrin Thompson was abused all day. 19. By and large the starting linebackers look improved, but there is nothing behind them. 20. If Auburn wins the kicking job next year then we better hope we dont have to rely on him to hit a game winner. Even his makes looked shaky.14 points

Stop misusing grooming to support your ridiculous notions. Not telling a parent something isn’t “grooming” anyone. I posted above, so you think a parent should be told if a teacher sees Jennifer holding hands with Alyssa in the hall? What if she’s holding hands with Steve? What if the kid tells the teacher “my mom says if I’m gay she will disown me” still should go to parent? What if the teacher overheard a rumor that Jennifer had sex with someone, must share? And if rumor is false and ruins Jennifer’s life just too fucking bad? You guys come up with these asinine positions to defend against something that legit isn’t happening and CANT happen (you can’t groom someone into being gay, try learning something), that then immediately fall apart under any scrutiny (oh so we should ban teaching books if the word marriage is in them) but just triple down and pretzel yourselves into the absolute dumbest shit possible. Pass a law that says no explicit discussion of sexual topics for certain age and this is a nothing burger. But that’s not what the goal is. Cruelty and hate is the goal and that law doesn’t satisfy the bloodlust.12 points

Teachers/staff are not on a mission to ‘talk about homosexual relationships’ with your kid. Our goal is the well-being of all students, including those who may be LGBTQ+ or have family/friends who are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk12 points

Seriously? Do you even know the definition of grooming or are you just parroting the latest buzzword of your party? JFC—for you to suggest such a thing is offensive. You actually believe my goal, as counselor/educator, is gaining the child’s trust in order to sexually abuse them? Get the fuck out of here with your bullshit. Vince Young was fast, but not as fast in person. Staff thinks Stephen McGee is the better option. If they push, I think we'll get our man.10 points

Is "my parents hate gay people" abuse that CPS will do anything about? Of course not. If we can agree that CPS can take kids away from hateful bigots, then LFG. THERE IS NO FUCKING GROOMING STOP SAYING GROOMING. You are just like the ignorant fucks that call everything SOCIALISM or COMMUNISM when you mean "things I don't like." And "just tell parents things" again you have given no exhaustive list of the "things" that parents should be told. Also, this bill has nothing to do with not telling parents things, and has to do with what is said in class. So, nope, "tell parents!" doesn't mandate this shithead bill from shitheads by shitheads for shitheads.9 points

Dude, I'm a military brat who went to A&M and works directly with the military at the moment...do you think there's a decent chance that I've pulled the lever for more than my fair share of Republicans? Do you think that I currently vote almost exclusively for Democrats because I think they're all swell with nothing but great ideas for the country? Democrat politicians suck too. They lie, cheat, and steal to enrich themselves. But, it blows my mind that, after the election and all the way up to and after 1/6 and seeing how far into the deep end Trump has pushed the entire party, supposedly rational, intelligent people can still try to pretend that there isn't a very obvious lesser of two evils. The GOP made its bed and has absolutely no intention of leaving it anytime soon. It's despicable. Once they abandon the hate, lies, conspiracies, and blatant anti-Democratic tendencies of Trump cultism, I'll be happy to discuss (and vote) primarily on policy. Tell me when I should start holding my breath.9 points

I don't think that's too uncommon, especially for posters of a certain age. I'm 50yo and one of my best friends from high school came out to me when we were in college. In hs, that guy was pretty popular and even dated the daughter of the preacher of the First Baptist Church which, along with First Methodist, was *the* church to go to. So...let's just say he was dating small West Texas town royalty. He explained it to me later that in high school, he just couldn't come to terms with how he felt internally nor how to reconcile it with our very conservative town. While I can't speak for the gay mafia on this board and realize it's not the exact same situation as to what was described by that poster, I think there's something to the whole "closeted" thing and how some people realize they're in it, some maybe quite don't, and some are just confused. It's been a while, but I've described before my own daughter's struggles with her identify starting from a very young age (4-5 years old). By the 2nd grade, she refused to wear girls clothes and kept her hair cut like a boy. My ex and I didn't make a big deal of it and just let her know that we loved her no matter what. By high school, she felt comfortable enough to tell me she thought she was gay, and that was that. No drama, no trauma. Everything's cool, and we're super close, and I love her, and she'll always know that.8 points

This. Although I ended up with someone of the opposite sex and mostly always dated that way, I’m under the “B” part of the umbrella. I didn’t realize it for a very long time, so I would frequently find myself with a “frenemy” with which I would have intense psycho-sexual energy (along with perhaps some inspiration for an early 90s erotic thriller starring Sharon Stone). Being repressed about that wasn’t fun for anyone involved, and I’m glad that I finally came to realize that these frenemies were crushes. I massively chilled out afterward and have since lead a boring, mostly heterosexual lifestyle. If I hadn’t have come to terms with that, I’d probably be a realtor who spends my extra time harassing the local school board and setting up flamingos in my yard in Steiner Ranch.8 points

I have no dog in this fight but this is the dumbest definition of “grooming” I have ever read. There has to be and endgame. “Grooming” is when a person attempts to gain the trust of a child, to manipulate them and isolate them from their family, to normalize deviant sexual behavior for the express purpose of sexually assaulting them. That’s it.8 points

We are doing far more to stop Putin than we did to stop Hitler before we entered the European war, including Lend-Lease. Europe is doing more to stop Putin than they did to stop Hitler before September 1939, when the decision was taken out of their hands. There are still many fewer casualties than there would be in even a limited nuclear exchange in Europe. The smart play, for everyone in the world, is to continue on this course unless there is a direct attack on a NATO nation. Sucks, but that's reality.8 points

Not addressing any specific post or poster, but y'all better start thinking about some conversations to have with your kids really soon, because unless you are able to monitor their screen time and internet usage 24/7 through their teen years, they will eventually see some serious shit, even if it's some free game they play on their iPad that has in-game ads (which can get raunchy as hell). Kids these days, even in early elementary school, are a lot more savvy about their devices/internet than you think, thanks to many of them having to spent a big chunk of 1-2 school years during the early part of the pandemic on such devices for most of the day.8 points

I’m not sure how much you can take away from a glorified practice but it was nice to see athletic safeties on the field. The combination of Cook/Crawford/Allen/Blackwell are 1,000 times better than that hot garbage we trotted out last year. I’m also not sure Jamison is one of our best five defensive backs.8 points

Plenty of this. For many admittedly. Many of the ones high on the horns last preseason are many of the same ones down on them this time around. I remember coming in here after a closed scrimmage, after many were riding high on the team after the summer, stating that what i saw that August, especially the offense, was not good and needed a lot of work. It was dismissed until after Arkansas when many changed their tune. I can say this confidently. What i saw yesterday was much MUCH better than what i saw last August. What that means this season, not sure. I hear the rest of the B12 is down. Sark's number one qualification for a QB is protecting the ball. Card at this point does that better. Sark's number two qualification is deliver the ball down field. Quinn far and away does that better. It will be interesting to see what Sark will choose but my bet is Card starts with a short leash and then Quinn comes in and quickly takes over and his flash/momentum excuse all the rookie errors. RB's look good 1-4. Whittington Neyor and Worthy look good. (Washington, Dixon and Harrison don't.) JT looks good. Gunnar is serviceable. oLine was serviceable. Sark has stated, recently, he is expecting freshman to come in and play. I hope they are that good. Dline looked slow early and better late. LB's are not that much better. JB still sucks. It was his gap that Roschon ran the long play for. Granted the freshman DB also let him escape from his tackle. Again, we didn't look great yesterday but we look way better than last August. I could easily see 8 or 9 wins. If they grow up in a hurry they could be a really good team by the end of the season. Is it likely no, but very possible. Again, I'm not as down as i was last season. Oh and I'd go with Quinn asap. Like game 1 mid first quarter. We'll see.7 points
