Hilltop is great. Somebody added it.
Added The Real New Orleans Style Restaurant - Marble Falls TX. Great Cajun from members of a church displaced by Katrina who decided to stick around.

I wish I remembered who started it, but back at Kevin's Folly there was a post asking for recommendations for movie night for older kids/teenagers. It generated some good ideas (as well as some horribad ones, of course) and sounded like a cool thing to do as mine get older, so I put some of them on a list to keep around.
The point was primarily to entertain them as a group, and to mix in some classic and essential films that they might not seek out on their own. And also to warp their minds and scar them emotionally.
Anyway, I thought it was worth resurrecting and adding on to, so here's what I had:

Damn. The Asylum Street Spankers version of this is pretty good, too.

I don't know jack about horticulture, but the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute botanical gardens right outside of Ft. Davis are pretty cool and make for a nice quiet walk for an hour or so.

I like to think that Capsela ultimately gave us

That's the chicken/cheese/jap wrapped in bacon? They were good. Johnny's in Salado does them better, though.
I think that, deep deep down, I just wanted to shit on something that people in Waco like.

I like LL AWH is good but a bit unwieldy.
Sound Exchange wouldn't be bad.

After having a serious nostalgia chuckle during the movie, I'm making my boys watch Krull.
They're loving it. Times may change, but us boys still have predictably terrible and marketable taste. -
I'm going to be honest that I never liked that the Gene Wilder version changed things up from the book and made Charlie and his grandpa into whiny bitches.
But Wilder killed it in the role he was given and made it iconic.
Even if Depp was handed a turd sandwich, he just ate it. -

And if you can work it in, swim at Balmorhea.

Burger and kick-ass Scorpion margarita at Starlight

Went to the Capri a couple years ago, not knowing anything about it. Took two grubby boys there and we were pretty gross from camping, but they took our money (plenty of it). It was a bit precious, but the drinks were good, as was the ribeye:

George O's. I get it, it's in Waco and that's probably as good as Waco gets, but the food is meh, the beer selection is meh, and the Big O is just a schooner like I could probably get at any crappy chain.
2 barfs, because while it's not frankly disgusting, it needs to be more clearly stated that it is simply the least shitty option you have if you can't wait until you get out of Waco.

I'm in a similar boat. Wife has had her Armada for 10+ years, and trying to decide new Armada vs QX80 vs dropping down to something smaller. It's my understanding that the QX80 isn't due for a major redesign for several years, so that might help if she needs to have the latest stuff. For whatever reason, I prefer the Armada styling to the QX, but that's probably because I'm cheap.
And Land Cruisers are awesome, but holy shit, the prices. And if you gave me my pick, it'd be an FJ55.

Agree that the era of HBO/Netflix series opens some possibilities for some previously 'unfilmables' like Blood Meridian and Confederacy of Dunces.
I wish World War Z had gotten that treatment, and would love to see a do-over. -
These were my school supply boxes.

Protip: Heat a needle and make multiple punctures in the fuselage, then paint the tops silver for Super Realistic Bulletholes.
Now you tell me. But I had to get to gluing them together and smelling that sweet glue.
Putting one together with grandson recently. He'll never have glue smell euphoria.
Then blow up plane with firecrackers.- 1

Just walked out. It's a win. Totally entertained.

Sweet.
Just to get further off track, we went to see Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen) years ago at the Laff Stop in Houston (he's pretty funny). One of the audience members had a Delorean and got him to autograph the dashboard afterward.

Saw this in Temple a while back and took a picture for my obsessed sons:
Kinda don't see Cline as a disabled vet type, unless it's carpal tunnel from drone piloting.
What was your Shaggy name?

That's funny, because your mom said she's contemplating changing hers to "mike's mom."
