  1. I wish I remembered who started it, but back at Kevin's Folly there was a post asking for recommendations for movie night for older kids/teenagers.  It generated some good ideas (as well as some horribad ones, of course) and sounded like a cool thing to do as mine get older, so I put some of them on a list to keep around.

The point was primarily to entertain them as a group, and to mix in some classic and essential films that they might not seek out on their own.  And also to warp their minds and scar them emotionally.

  2. After having a serious nostalgia chuckle during the movie, I'm making my boys watch Krull.

They're loving it. Times may change, but us boys still have predictably terrible and marketable taste.

  3. George O's.  I get it, it's in Waco and that's probably as good as Waco gets, but the food is meh, the beer selection is meh, and the Big O is just a schooner like I could probably get at any crappy chain.

2 barfs, because while it's not frankly disgusting, it needs to be more clearly stated that it is simply the least shitty option you have if you can't wait until you get out of Waco.

  4. I'm in a similar boat.  Wife has had her Armada for 10+ years, and trying to decide new Armada vs QX80 vs dropping down to something smaller.  It's my understanding that the QX80 isn't due for a major redesign for several years, so that might help if she needs to have the latest stuff.  For whatever reason, I prefer the Armada styling to the QX, but that's probably because I'm cheap.

And Land Cruisers are awesome, but holy shit, the prices.  And if you gave me my pick, it'd be an FJ55.

Now you tell me. But I had to get to gluing them together and smelling that sweet glue.
Putting one together with grandson recently. He'll never have glue smell euphoria.
Protip: Heat a needle and make multiple punctures in the fuselage, then paint the tops silver for Super Realistic Bulletholes.

Then blow up plane with firecrackers.

  6. Sweet.

Just to get further off track, we went to see Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen) years ago at the Laff Stop in Houston (he's pretty funny).  One of the audience members had a Delorean and got him to autograph the dashboard afterward.
