  1. look, there are people who make things happen through sheer force of will, determination, and focus on details, and there are those who do not. we all know this from our normal lives. Our basketball coach is the former, our football coach is the latter. there is no other way to explain any of this.

Casey Thompson lost that game for us. He didn't get much help but he lost that game.

Look I think Casey played a shitty game and he deserves to be benched because of it, otherwise there is no accountability in the QB room, BUT he is not THE reason we lost. He is one of many reasons why we lost including offensive line, pass rush, play calling, def adjustments, S&C program, etc, etc, etc

  3. but he got vaccinated. thats the thing, they arent really following him. he is just another in a long line of populists that have appealed to the laziness and bitterness of those who feel left behind. its the same script over and over again. its not about trump. its not about the vaccine. its about muh feelingz and freedum!!!! fucking idiots.

i have a colleague who held the same position and said all the same stupid things that have been posted in this thread. But when our company mandated it for travel and she had a trip coming up to Santa Barbara for a legal conference, she sprinted to CVS to get vaxxed. principles, my ass.

  4. In the good old days, folks like Eltife and Milliken would have told Abbott to fuck off because that is stupid shit, that trump is a loser and a dumbass, and all of it is bad for business. now i dont know what the fuck to think if republicans are no longer driven by business and making a buck.

But when lined up this way, the numbers advantage is neutralized. You're inviting the very type of play OU ran, against one of the weakest links in our defense, personnel wise.

i gotcha. so you want us to play the numbers away from the strength of the offense! what a novel approach. and what exactly do you think OU is going to do when we play numbers away from the 3x1 formation where the #3 receiver is lined up as a sniffer/HB to the field side with the back on the backside???  Again, our alignment on this play was traditional. We outnumbered OU on the boundary side. We just executed very, very poorly.

On the game winning play for OU, what's the thinking behind having such an unbalanced defensive front? Look like we have Sweat over the center and our edge guy outside of the tackle. The gap(s) between I guess are covered by Brockermeyer?  Seems like a bad plan given our personnel limitations. Also, seems to begging OU to run a counter right into this - which is exactly what they love to do and in fact did: easy to block down the out-leveraged lineman and outnumber us at the point of attack.  It seems like a more balanced traditional look would have helped us here.

we have 9 guys in the box. we didnt lose this because of alignment.

  7. Ok, so starting to really shape up the itinerary now. We are going 11/11-11/22. We fly into Florence. We spend 4 days there. Then to Rome where we are spending 4 days and then 2 days in Venice and then fly home from Venice. i have gone through all 14 pages and pulled out all the recs for Florence and Rome. we are also going through the various websites and apps for Italy but wanted to get final recs from Surly:

Florence - must see, hotels, and places to eat

If we stay in florence for 2 days, should we go to Siena for the other two?

If so, Siena - must see, hotels, and places to eat

What vineyards should we go to in the Florence / Siena / Tuscany area?

I will probably rent a car through Hertz as I have status there.

Rome - must see, hotels, and places to eat

Venice - is the JW the best place to stay?  other than the canals, anything else that is a must see? place to eat?

    Thanks everyone in advance!!!!

  8. Everyone on here knows i am a Hudson Card supporter. But let me say that after today, Casey Thompson.... that's my quarterback!!! Great game by the young man.

he isnt ready because he panicked. He is the more talented passer and that is pretty obvious.  I would have argued for Card during TCU game if Ark was a disaster and he threw 3 picks, which Casey tried to do vs TCU.  Instead he essentially froze. From my experience it is easier to get an aggressive player to hold a punch, than to get a passive player to throw a punch.

To be fair, i dont think Card panicked or froze. He didnt throw several picks or make several questionable decisions. He just tried to be too perfect, too careful. Instead of playing the game and using his talents and instincts, instead of taking over the game and just playing, he tried to execute every play too perfectly. he tried to execute the offense to a fault, and ended up being mechanical, overly-careful and overly-cautious. the kid is a grinder and will be fine. when he gets his chance again, he just needs to go play ball.

until then, i think we are in good hands with Casey.

Card may have the arm, but in the pig game he threw 3 straight long ball passes without making any correction for ball spin.   Even the announcers were like WFT, does he not know the ball is spinning and you have to adjust it?   Multiple throws floating off to the right with absolutely no adjustment.  Anyone talking about Card ready for anything other than clipboard duty is regarded.

i dont know what that announcer was talking about but its wrong. the ball spinning does not make the ball go to the right. this isnt golf and every pass isnt a fade or a slice.

I’m not disagreeing with you about making a switch. But you do remember how he ended up starting in the first place, right?

yeah i do, but the game was over when he brought in Casey and we had two easy games coming up on the schedule to get Casey ready. Switching now would be really hard on both QBs.

  12. its weird. i have lived in texas all my life and i have never been affected by illegal immigration. i dont think about it. i dont see it. it doesnt impact my life. its a non-issue. i know they just use it as a whistle to all of the racists out there but come on Texas, this shit is stupid.
