Turkey hunting is one of the best damned experiences, but the end game is horrible.  I have yet to find a good way to cook a bird....best I've ever done is lightly frying chunks of breast, and it still wasn't amazing.  I've resorted to entertaining the sport of calling in a big Tom and getting them to strut around.  Can't find it in myself to pull the trigger anymore.  Anyone have a good recipe that would have me pullin' on the Benelli trigger once again?

I make carnitas out of the thighs.  Its worth doing.  If you really need it, add some domestic turkey thighs during the process for the fat.

    Here is a similar recipe.

I should add that I enjoy deer heart tacos as well.

  2. Thank you.  Can you recommend an inexpensive scope?  I have Leupold scopes on two of my deer rifles and I don't think I want to put a +$500 scope on an AR used for shooting hogs.  I am actually impressed with the cheap Nikon scope that came on the Savage .243 I bought for the kids.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

  3. Question.  I have an M&P Sport with a fixed front sight. I would like to put a scope on it.  If mounted at normal height, will the front sight be visible through the scope at every magnification?  Thinking about a 3x9.

Shugart had a rough outing, but overall I think he performed well this season, particularly with how he has lowered his walk rate.  His performance in the Cape last year was also impressive (24Ks in 23.2 IPs).

He is impressive at times but he is continually behind hitters.  Then he elevates his fastball and gets crushed. His pitch count is always high.  He is very gifted but he pitches like he has 98mph fastball and not a 92-93.  It hurts him.
