There are some hard decisions to potentially be made in the next 12 days. Do we trust our medical staff enough to honestly tell us when everyone will potentially be back? What will they be like if and when they come back? Does Yordan play like Yordan this year? The grownup conversation needs to be had that we have had some good baseball luck on the field so far but the tide could be shifting.
If Yordan is Yordan and we get another bat and everyone comes back, I’m all for full speed ahead. If there’s any doubt on Yordan or anyone else, we owe it to ourselves to at least listen to what some desperate team may offer for Framber. Keeping Framber to potentially miss the playoffs or be an easy out sets us back 3 years if/when he leaves. One draft pick is nothing. The Tucker trade has opened my eyes as to how it could help keep us keep rolling for another 3-5 years by adding 2-3 top players now. We will still have a solid core next year but the farm is still weak as hell. Adding a starter and a prospect or two would help. I’m not advocating we must trade him. Flags fly forever and if Dana can add the pieces to make us a serious contender then let’s go. But I would also like to be in this position for the foreseeable future and an influx of talent would help.
People lose their freaking minds at the mere mention of trading Framber. I get it. Fans gonna fanatic. I’d rather keep him too. People thought the world was ending when we traded Tucker and lost Bregman. But I don’t think maybe moving Framber makes us sellers. I think we could do both at the same time and contend this year and in future with trades. I’m not sure Dana has the ability or authority to get that creative. I’d love to see what Luhnow would do in this situation.
At the end of the day, I’m a fan of the name on the front of the jersey not the back. Let’s hope this is just a two or three week lull and we get going again soon. I hate losing. Just one man’s opinion. Flame away.
