That is a ridiculous amount! I was paying about $120 for internet and cable when I cut about 5 years ago. Just getting internet ended up being about $85 a month, so by the time I added Netflix, Hulu and Sling, I was paying more for less content. The only way the finances really work in that situation is to be on the ball and cancel when you aren't watching. If I cancelled Sling after college basketball ended and re-subscribed in the fall I would save money overall. I also found I binged watched stuff on Netflix and Hulu and then would go months without really watching anything on one or the other while still forking over money. I finally went back to the bundle this year. I'll see if the total cost has gone up once the initial $99 bundle deal is over.

Yeah I'll probably cancel when football is over. But even if I dont l, its about 100 cheaper than uverse, and I had their service for 5 years.

  2. Quote

“You could ask him, out of nowhere, ‘Hey, what’s this play?’ from a game prior … and he would go down the board of everybody’s responsibility,” says Bru McCoy, a five-star athlete in the class of 2019 and Daniels’s best friend since seventh grade. “He watched so much film that he knew the plays by heart in order, by number, just literally from going through constantly, clicking it through and playing it over and over.”

Article about JT Daniels on The Ringer.  Didn't realize they were best buds.  He goin to USC.

  3. Every director's career has a high point that ends followed by disappointments.  They know it as well.  It's why Tarantino says he wants to walk away eventually. And hes still made some bad ones.

This thread really includes every director of the modern era.

As for PTA, personally I'd like him to rediscover humor.

  4. Does Nebraska still have stripes on their pants? Cant tell from that tweet.  They look better without the stripes like the 90s.

The stripes just make them look like Wisconsin.

One thing that has become clear is that I don't think Adam McKay knows shit about "big business" or the markets.  Any credibility he acquired on that front with the Big Short was directly attributable to Michael Lewis and the source material.  This is close-ish, but far enough off on accuracy to be somewhat bothersome.

    He didn't write the show.

  6. Why I'm hopeful for 9 wins:

-It is insane how close Texas was to 10 or even 11 wins last year.  USC, Tech, and Oklahoma State are all wins if Ehlinger doesn't turn it over at the end of each.  Oklahoma was there for the taking.
-We will most likely have 10 upperclassmen starting on defense and all of them are at least solid to potentially really good (Omenihu, Hager, Nelson, Johnson, Wheeler, Roach, Boyd, Davis, Jones, Locke)
-Our defensive coordinator has prevented opponents from getting to 30 points in 31 of his last 39 games.  Nobody in the Big 12 has yet to get 30 on him (in regulation).
-The offense really just needs to be average, and their talent is about average (other than WR).
-The Big 12 should be down, especially the teams that have consistently beaten us lately.

    Why I'm doubtful:

    -The offensive line.
    -Tim Beck
-It's been so long, I'm beaten down.

  7. I haven't really had a favorite TV show since Mad Men ended and Game of Thrones started being lame.  This has now taken the lead.

The trailer for this show didn't sell me at all. It's so damn smart and funny.

  8. There seems to be a trend of British TV comedy writers who are creating really smart drama in or around their comedy.

Auanucci - Veep/Thick of It to Death of Stalin

Charlie Brooker - Yearly Wrap to Black Mirror

Jesse Armstrong - Peep Show to Succession

The amount of posts people have spent complaining about the color of the jerseys when it hasn't actually changed is pretty astounding.

Right up there with the annual "wow *insert strength and conditioning coach* is really great. Look how jacked the players are" posts because guys have biceps and deltoids.

  10. It will suck if we land in the mid lottery next year and don't get the pick.  OKC, Boston and Golden State built contenders from drafting well 3-4 years in a row.

But it was a risk we had to take.  Doncic can be that good.

I would prefer we target younger players in free agency since we likely won't get another elite player from the draft soon.

  11. You're all right and the Htown dude is wrong.

Moving on to this thread's topic, Marc Stein says rival teams believe Sacramento is seriously considering Porter at 2.

Some teams are always in the lottery for a reason. If you like Porter, trade down to 5 or 6 and get an asset.  But I'm rooting for them to draft him at 2 so the Mavs can get Doncic or Jackson.

  12. Said it in the other thread, but I don't think Memphis wants to simply lose the pick to dump Parsons. They want to use a trade down to dump Parsons.

Moving from 5 to 4 isn't worth taking on that amount of money.

Memphis was tanking harder than any other team and embarrassing themselves in the process. They didn't do that to just do a salary dump.
