  1. Was coming here to post this. Great Book. You'll both enjoy the book. My Dad served on tin cans as a gunnery officer after UT and the war, but I bought him this book some years back for a Christmas present. I think he was done with it after one night. Some officers that he served under/with had been in the battle. Dad's second ship, the USS Cowell (DD547) had been hit by a kamikaze off of Okinawa, and there is a mention of it (with I think the pilot's head scarf/ hachimaki) displayed in the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg.
  2. Know where the plate/zone is and it will be an improvement on most of this yr's pen....
  3. I thought Nuke had a 10cent head?
  4. Pitching and defense WINS OMAHA (don't bring up the gorilla ball yrs). Learning and using small ball to manufacturing runs helps too.
  5. Floor did not look happy...😂
  6. I don't disagree with that. Was just stating a position that he is already accomplished at and we will have a void to fill. Besides 1B or DH, I'd love to have him play some right field the way Brooks used to do. Would be nice to have a gun out there. Hopefully Schuessler just needs more playing time and at bats to progress and have him take Ardoin's spot. If not, Skenes could step in there some too. Nothing wrong with some competition to make you work harder to succeed.
  7. Or catcher. Like he did with AF.

  10. Down goes piggy! Down goes blowU! Congrats Ole Miss…[emoji869] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'd love to see him pitch against blowU and stymie them the way he did piggy. Though 3 days rest (following a complete game) for a college pitcher is ripe for blowing a kid's arm.
  12. Prior to the brackets were set, I heard something on the radio about a new format to get more exposure and viewership.... Doesn't work well for the teams or pitching matchups though (no way that Ole Miss guy from Thursday pitches again, which I think is BS) Changing for television viewership is what (helped) cost us the '89 championship....no way Wichita St beats us twice.
  13. Short turnaround, Gm1 starts on Saturday. If necessary Gm3 Monday night.
  14. Of course priority one is stopping the shooter. But you still see people out or point them the way out if encountered before finding the shooter. This is what was done during Columbine and lessons learned training after. And with STOP THE BLEED programs now, you are not passing up someone with an extremity bleed. It takes less than a minute to properly apply a CAT or similar tourniquet.
  15. Standard practice throughout the country since Columbine is to actively move in, rescue those found while searching for, and engaging the shooter. There should have been NO WAITING (especially with continued gunshots). Not sure why, but those that didn't act or engage upon arrival on the campus/school, failed miserably.
  16. Correct. The south tower (2nd to be hit) collapsed first. Which also meant that many of those firefighter's killed were from outlying companies from other boroughs. The french documentary of the probie (downtown company) had ALL of their firefighters return to the station (even though they were a first arriving company and thus in the north tower), the last one back at the station was the probie, who many thought had died in the collapse. Later alarm(s) arriving companies went into and up the south tower and died when it collapsed and fell first. For those saying that many joining now wouldn't or don't act like those killed on 9/11, there is some small truth to that. Some join for the benefits, some for the time off, others for some whatever reason. But many, if not MOST, that I saw come into my FD after 9/11, I think there was a greater understanding of what was expected (putting others before self) and what could happen to you on while on the job. Those that didn't or don't understand that, you try and weed them out as much as you can. Unfortunately, some still get in and remain in the profession. Maybe not so much knowing you are going to , but KNOWING that there is a distinct possibility of it. You have to put trust in yourself, your crew, your training, and those that are leading you to get you through. My dad and mom called me on 9/12. Even though I had worked in the Fire Service for 13 years, I believe that was the first time they realized what I did for a living (when I became a firefighter, they were just happy that I was no longer jumping out of "perfectly good" military aircraft). My dad asked me a direct question of "Why did they go into the towers?" And my answer was that is what you are supposed to do. They went in to get as many (ALL) of the people that they could save, and to put the fires out. It was then, and still is the expectation.
  17. Yep. I looked up the ferry schedule after posting. The page/site I found has one leaving the terminal at 1130pm ( maybe earlier if leaving from the Hotel Zone). I hadn't done that one (Mujeres) but used the same company for Cozumel a few years ago. The daughter (no pics) and her hubby moved to Cabo last year, so now we are just going there (rough, I know). Appreciate your response.
  18. Just found out today that that some former co-workers/gals are going there this weekend. They are wanting to party one night in Cancun, but not staying in the Hotel Zone. Just the island. I don't have a clue as I have stayed in Cancun and Cozumel multiple x's, but not Isla and they have a question per the ferry schedule. Anyone have an idea when the last ferry from the mainland runs out to the island? ( and if it works out, I'll see abut posting any pics she might have/get for you A-hole/pervs here....pretty rocking early-mid 30's bod)
  19. He is in the transfer portal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Welp. Disappointing ending to a season where they worked hard to get back to Omaha. Hopefully we get some portal transfers and do some magic for next year. [emoji869] See ya at the Disch for fall ball. (and fuck aggy) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Austin Todd the only one that showed up with a bat today (3/4) …He definitely worked on his approach at the plate this year. Gonna miss him. [emoji869] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
