  1. I wonder if it has anything to do with the way the software here handles links versus vBulletin.  [not a software guy].

what's also strange to me is the randomness of imgur links that survived.  1 out of 4 of mine in the hss thread stayed.  I happened to be on my desktop pc for the one that survived and made the effort to shrink it down before posting it.  unfortunately, the same approach from my ipad didn't work.  twice.  and for all I know, the one I can still see no one else can (sausage and refried been wraps).

they make a point of telling you how much bandwidth your image is drawing, so maybe there's something there.  that 'Martyn' couldn't or wouldn't elaborate on the specifics of the 'violation' should be embarassing to them as an organization.  but I don't get how they make any money anyway, so maybe they're oblivious to such considerations as customer service.

  2. Slinky+  yesterday.  bcgb today.   neither trail got touched by that crazy friday night storm.  hero dirt.

here's an edit I did while laid up with a busted leg for some buddies who went to Angel Fire.  it all looks flat as Kansas until you realize they almost never crank the pedals.  you have to mentally tilt the whole world down about 40 degrees, I guess.

  3. did any y'all ever replace the webbing in one of these?  my folks bought a roll of webbing material, planning to do our whole set (of two--- my brother and I had to sit on the ground), but only did one because it was such a PITA.  by the time the webbing went bad, the rivets were all shot anyway.   just the whole thought process was diferent, back then.  seems like we just throw everything away, now.

I feel ya, man. Nearly every pano or vista I shoot, I get home and look at it on the monitor and go, "That's it? It seemed so much more impressive in person."

I think our eyes are programmed to distort vertical distances (cuz gravity). Think about it--something 1000 feet straight away seems relatively close, but something 1000 feet straight above seems intimidatingly massive.

If you'll ignore the idiot in the foreground, this pic is a good example--it was taken a couple of years ago from the saddle of one of my favorite trails/climbs, some 1,700 feet above town. But it doesn't seem that high on camera.

  5. smoked the weirdest brisket, this morning.   was done at noon for a 3pm family thing, so I did what any man faced with a bunch of extra smoke laying around:  did a pan of oysters with scrimps and crawfish.  and whatnot.

  6. hey, Braff:  Thanks for the kind words on the vids.  they're kind of frustrating to make because they're mostly meaningless to those who don't ride or haven't actually been on those trails.  they work for me because I can relive the rush I feel when I ride there, but they just don't do it justice.  everything is small and flat.  glad others can enjoy them a bit.  and I enjoy the editing process.

so, nothing new that isn't blasty (visible faces).  maybe I'll start drinking again and post one of those, one of these days.

I think I added an extra space between lazy and fuck because I'm drunk.

you also couldn't tell they are, in fact, Trappey's beans, for the same reason, my dude.  2 cans, 4 strips of bacon. added diced japs, because HEB quit carrying the jalapinto version.

continuing this theme:  in the on-going battle for flatulent supremacy on The 40, a key tactic is to deprive the enemy of fuel.   breakfast today was very similar to the other day.  chipotle Tabasco on one, Valentina Black on the other.  Meyer's jap-cheddar sausage, because fuck HEB for putting only 5 in a package of theirs.
