I'm not sure "really cool" is the predicate adjective I'd have used. I might have leaned more toward "ugly as shit."

In fairness, I had just seen those hideous Notre Dame/Yankees jerseys before looking at these, so pretty much anything would have struck me as "really cool" at that moment.

They're cool in the 1980's San Diego Padres kind of way.

Goddammit. I fucking hate this with every ounce of my soul.  Every fucking year it's another abortion.  The only abortion ND endorses.

I feel for you. I dread the day Texas does some stupid shit like this. ND obviously has iconic, great uniforms. Throwing in a green jersey every once in a while is an awesome touch.

But the garbage "alt" unis they've used the last few years are fucking terrible. Just...why?

I think David Thomas was the MVP of the 2005 Rose Bowl. Seems like every time he touched the ball it was a first down. One of my top five Altima favorite longhorns.

I mean...he was awesome in that game, absolutely. But you don't really think he was the most valuable player of the game, do you?

Is he Julio fucking Jones? If he is, fine, have him in the top 10 nationally. If he's not, he has no fucking business being anywhere near #2. It's more than being a dipshit. He's unlikely to be the #2 pick in the NFL 3 or 4 years from now, and that's honestly what I'd expect of the #2 rated recruit in this cycle. Maybe we look back and laugh at how wrong I am, but the history of WRs, especially in the state of Texas, isn't something that gives me pause when I state that he should be in the top 25-50 range, and nothing better

Same. Darius White, Mike Davis, Chris Jones, Thomas Johnson, Bralon Addison, Ricky Seals-Jones, KD Cannon, Armanti Foreman, Damarkus Lodge, etc...not that these guys were bad players, but they were all really highly rated and none were huge difference-makers. I generally don't get too worked up about WR recruits.

From the comments, replying to another comment that said the overpaying is sad state of affairs at the school, I present one of the most aggy posts ever to be posted anywhere :

jimbo75025 — you missed my point. It is not a sad state of affairs. It just reflects hows things go for people at the top of their respective professions. Take Aggie grads. Yes, it will take many years for an average A&M grad to do that (do that = make the kind of money these coaches are making). But what about A&M grads at the top of his or her profession? Take the Exxon-Mobile CEO, Darren Woods, an engineer — would it take him decades to do that? Or take aggie Tony Buzbee. He is a personal injury trial lawyer at the top of his profession. Would it take it him decades? Or banker and aggie Phil Adams? Would it take him decades to do that? Last I heard he sold his Gulfstream to the owner of the Miami Dolphins because he wanted a better plane. You get my point. Elko is considered a really really good defensive coach. Good enough to where the Fighting Irish were paying him a million a year. Schmid is also considered a top top S&C coach. One whom Bob Stoops once called his “secret weapon.” Be glad for these guys. Yes, they are well paid, but they should be because they are at the top at what they do. Just like others who are at the top of what they do. And in relation to guys like Woods, Adams and Buzbee their pay is not so great. If anything they make far far less than people in different fields who are the top of their respect professions

Guys, if I ever brag about how much money another guy makes...well, I'm never going to brag about how much money another guy makes.

Y'all ever think that it's just not that tOSU, PSU, and Baylor fans are idiots (they likely are), but that the circling of the wagons, and blind devotion are more like human nature than characteristics unique to these particular fan bases? I mean when has there been a scandal of this level where a fan base did NOT display these disgusting tendencies? Dare I say that if this happened to UT some of us might behave in the same way? BTW, this is in no way an excuse for how they are behaving (they are indeed abhorrent behaviors), I'm just more curious if this is less about "those depraved Ohioans (or Wacos)" and more an indictment of humans' tendency for blind allegiance to "our people"?

    Of course. It's tribalism.

But if people come on here with victim-blaming bullshit toward battered women and idiotic conspiracy theories that prove they can't see the world beyond the scope of the amateur football team they like...then they deserve to be called out as the trash that they are. And if UT fans were doing this, I am pretty confident that they would (rightfully) be treated as such on this board.

You've got it.  Herman knew everything and helped cover it up, and then Mrs. Herman paid $10,000 in hush money to the victim to keep their names out of it.  That is, no bullshit, the narrative that's worming it's way thru the intertrons.

Edit:  I forgot to add the best part.  Herman "snitched" because tOSU was just destroying us in recruiting.

Hahaha...so he was complicit in the cover-up - so complicit that he, in fact, paid the victim hush money. But then he decided to make the story national - intentionally shining a light on a scandal in which he was intimately involved - because one 17 year-old kid in Texas has decided to play football at Ohio State?

That...doesn't make sense. The conspiracy theorists need to huddle and come up with something a bit more plausible.

  8. Who knows how true any of this is. But if Herman did tip McMurphy to dig into this, I say good. Herman seems like a vengeful fuck, which isn't necessarily a negative attribute for a football coach. And if it is true that he has been helping the victim throughout the process, even better.

  9. Fangraphs reader: Thoughts on Tyler White? Can he hit enough to be a 1B/DH?

Jeff Sullivan: Would a team rather have Tyler White or Eric Hosmer? It’s closer than you’d think!

I don’t like the sound of the Altuve comment.  Too much typical front office dodge and weave for it to be anything other than worse than we expected.

Yeah, it's weird. There's either structural damage to the knee or there isn't. I suppose it could be very minor damage to the meniscus or something. He's missed 2 weeks with general "knee soreness."
