Aren't there suspected to be two strains of COVID-19 now?

Yes there is supposedly 2 strains, a ‘L type’ and ‘S type’.  However, the differences are thought to be be very small which means that an immune response to one is likely to be at least partial for the other strain. But yes it will likely mutate, but as it mutates, everything mutates, including its potency.  Overtime, the new versions that cause widespread distribution without killing too many hosts too quickly tend to win out.  That is what happened to the cold. It started out potent and deadly but mutated rapidly and now is just a yearly irritation.

I've had both the cold and the flu more than once. What makes you think surviving coronavirus makes you immune? It's not chicken pox.

If it is the same strain, it does.

    It's a new strain.

You get the cold and flu more than once because there are hundreds of viruses that cause the cold and flu.  Each time you get one, you are immune, at least for a time, to that particular virus.   This COVID-19 virus is one specific virus.  It’s not completely certain since its new, but there is a reasonable chance that once you get it, you will have some form of immunity, at least for a period of time.  It it didn’t offer some immunity to the survivors, the virus infection rate on the population would not slow down, as they always do.
And yes, as pointed out above, it will mutate but usually the mutants are not as potent since you have had exposure to a similar cousin.   This is one working theory on why kids are not being as badly effected...they get infected with other corona viruses regularly at school.

we'll find out soon enough if he has it.

If DOTARD come down with covid19, and especially if he ends up in an ICU, I will have to extensively reevaluate my agnostic beliefs.

    What makes you think this?

He recently returned from Europe which included stops in Italy in Germany.  I guess I shouldn’t have said  “80% convinced” which is an exaggeration and attributable to paranoia on my part.  The point I was making was that I agree that we have no idea what the prevalence on this virus is right now in the US cause a lot are mild or asymptotic cases and those will not be documented.

I've said it elsewhere, but I suspect that "2% of people who get this die" number is WAY high.  I suspect that a large number of cases aren't diagnosed at all because the person is asymptomatic or has such mild symptoms that they never end up being tested etc.  Really, any such number is at most "2% of KNOWN CASES," which is likely to be a materially smaller pool than total cases.  This still may have a death rate that's significantly higher than the flu (which is .1%), but "significantly higher could still  just be ..3% or something like that.  We won't know for a while, because the data sets suck.

Agree.  I am just getting over a “cold” that i caught from my son which i am 80% convinced is the covid19.   Very mild but I stayed home over the weekend and now feel 90% better.  Will never know I guess cause I never felt bad enough to blow through $1500 of my deductible.

When the economy finally starts its long awaited decline due to Trump's policies and actions, I think he and his group must still be held accountable.  If he is not in office and the economy fails, then his base will blame whoever is in office and cry that Trump would never have destroyed the economy.  See what you did bringing in this lib?  Bring back Trump.

I think the economy has to fail big while he is in charge.  It clearly has to be his plans and policies at fault.  Then maybe we can start to get that re-birth that  immamac is speaking of, where we go back to true honest representation and equal powers among the 3 branches.

I don't think the economy will crash before November, or if it does it won't be a hard enough crash to damage him.  It has to be lots of tremors and quakes to wake everyone up to the problem.  All markets need to show decline under his watch, and they will.  Yes, environment, immigration, healthcare, and all else are being ravaged by this administration, but it's the economy that keeps the base in line.  Everything he is doing in the way of deregulation and tearing down ACA all leads to less costs for corporations, thus bigger returns on stocks.  It all serves the economy, the short term economy.

It doesn't have to be some return to years of another Great Depression.  But it does have to be significant enough to wake everyone from this malaise.  Dare I say it needs to be ledge-worthy?

It took decades to build this culture, starting in earnest with Reagan and Gingrich.  It won't be destroyed in 4 years of horrid presidency.  It will take another 4 years for the brutal results to come clear, to show the utter failure of this philosophy of greed over justice and equality.  And Trump needs to be behind the wheel so he and his supporters/enablers can take full responsibility for the collapse.  Then we stand a better chance of restructuring.  Quite the juxtaposition, to allow the devil to retain his seat in order to defeat he and the forces that put him there.  To pay the consequences for actions that were undoubtedly his.

The achilles heel of your argument is Fox News and the fact the the GOP is now a full blown cult.   Even if we go into a major depression while Trump is in office, it will never be his fault.  It will be the dems fault. And because of Fox News, 40-50% of the population will believe it.  He can do absolutely no wrong.  Joe Walsh has a WashPo Oped  about how the GOP is a cult.  He talks to GOP supporters who believe that Trump has NEVER told a lie, never golfs, the trillion dollar deficit is fake. There will never be a moment of “taking full responsibility” or “waking people up”.  Fox will make sure of that...and it will work.

  8. Cancer is essentially a process by which healthy cells,  which previously lived in harmony with other different cell types for the the betterment and survival of the larger organism, have become corrupted.  These cells have lost their normal internal regulation to control their selfish needs to consume resources and over populate.   They no longer work towards what is best for the  organism as a whole, but now are solely focused on their individual interests.  To this end, they suppress their neighbor cells,  take what they want without regards to the consequences.  It is truly amazing that any trumpkin/residual GOP'er is in any way against cancer.

Here is my proposed new GOP logo:

I’ve listened to maybe 15 mins of Rush in my lifetime. Surprised by the vitriol.

Here’s a list of some entities that are not thrilled as Surly Libs with Rush Limbaugh’s cancer diagnosis.

    Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

    Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation

    Tunnel to Towers Foundation

    Many millions raised. Flame away.

Jeffery Epstein reportedly gave over $1.8 million to various charities between 2015-2017.  Still glad he’s dead.

  10. And the cancer treatments he will receive will have been funded by government run socialistic agencies  such as the NIH.  He will then go to a government funded and  run socialist organization such as MD Anderson to be treated by doctors who’s training and education occurred at government subsidized hospitals and medical schools.  He will pray to his last day that all those bogeyman government agencies that he vilified will save his worthless life.

Graham uses big boy words now.

Question for the Surly attorneys.  At what point does a president lose the ability to invoke executive privilege?  If the senate wants to investigate the Biden’s can Obama claim executive privilege, instruct all witnesses from his administration to ignore the Senate’s subpoenas and lock it up in the courts just like dotard? If not does this mean that dotard’s privilege expires with his presidency?

  12. As long as we were gonna have a sham trial, the dems really should of taken more advantage of making Chief Roberts read the questions.  I would of asked the DOTARD attorneys since they want to hear from Hunter Biden, would they also be in favor or calling for testimony from other equally relevant witnesses such as Mike Hunt, Ben Dover, and  Anita Mandelay?
