  1. I think the DP discussion is an important one to have. Lots of heartfelt and thoughtful responses in this thread.

Meanwhile, there are a ton of assholes in the true crime community posting that they STILL believe he is 100% innocent. Even after the plea deal. I do not understand this. They believe he was simply driving around stargazing that night. And that he has been framed. I can’t with this. I have been sparring with these fucktards for the better part of two years online. His Papa Roger fans.

there will likely forever be a mystery surrounding the murder weapon and other questions people may have about the crime that the state isn’t able to answer. Maybe the killer will someday. Will some of those answers ever help the families heal? I don’t know.

I just know that a person doesn’t take four consecutive life sentences along with a burglary charge and waive all rights to any and all appeals if they ain’t guilty. We all know there would be years of appeals were he to be found guilty by a jury and sentenced to death. And no one knows how a trial could go. So many chances to roll the dice for him. One of his super fans could have stealthed their way onto a jury.

I think people confuse chaos for conspiracy in this case. What he did was similar in some ways (minus the sexual component and number of deceased) to what Ted Bundy did 47 years ago at the Chi Omega house. Kohberger is no different in my view. A psychopath walking around in human skin.

my two cents. These fans of Bryan’s: These fucking people suck. All that’s left is for the families to face him on July 23-24th. And after that the gag order is over once he’s shuffled off to live behind bars in the dark recesses of his mind. Trying to still fool his parents he ain’t a fucking monster.

The "Interview Room podcast" crew are upset with how involved the University of Idaho was during the entire investigation from the beginning....

One guy said the University was allowed way to much access and he was concerned that the killer might be connected to the University -- terrible protocol during the investigation.  They were also frustrated that the prosecution asked for the gag order to stay in place -- lots of commentary about how this prosecution did a terrible job throughout the last 2 1/2 years.

Feels like folks in Idaho just want this thing to go away quickly since they haven't tried many death penalty cases -- hell they might have been scared the prosecution might screw up and lose this case.

They absolutely wanted this to go away.

    💯

It has that mayor of Amity in Jaws feel to all of this. And Amity, as you know means friendship and they will be open for the 4th of July gosh damnit all to hell. 🦈

  3. Also BK was allowed to wear suit like attire today because until he accepted the plea deal and changed his plea to guilty he was cloaked in the presumption of innocence. Now that he has accepted the deal he will be in the orange jumpsuit for the July 23-24th sentencing hearing. No longer will he have the presumption of innocence.

also all families will remain under the gag order they have been under the past two plus years regarding BK and the case. Once the sentencing hearing concludes they will be free to say how they feel about the case and Bk and so on.

  4. A lawyer for Maddie Morgan’s family read a statement to reporters outside the courthouse while they were standing behind him.

They wholeheartedly support and accept the plea deal.

Maddie’s family also conveyed their sympathy to the families of murdered  firefighters and for the pain any parents who have lost a child feel.

The family of Maddie Morgan wrote they  understand there are some who do not support the plea but hope that those who do not support it will at least respect their decision.
this has been an awful chapter in their lives and they wish to move towards healing and turn the page toward a new chapter.

They thanked everyone for all the support and kindness they have received and for people and the media respecting their privacy.

  5. The hearing went as to be expected, the judge took seriously his role in making sure Bk knew the charges against him and was not being coerced and was not on any substances and happy with his attorney and so forth,

he pleaded guilty and he was wearing a suit, looked and sounded just like any other dude. With about as much inflection when he was answering yes to all the crimes and if he understood everything as someone ordering a venti dark roast with cream and sugar. Nuts.

i do a shitty job paraphrasing so Brian Entin who was in court captured all of it. It’s on his page. Zero emotion from BK as to be expected if he is what most of us think him to be a psycho. The murder weapon has never been recovered so I don’t know if they wanted to make its location if it could be found part of his plea or not.

  6. I think Ethan and Maddie’s loved ones are ok with this deal. Clearly the Gonclaves family is not. Xana’s family wanted the trial but I have no idea about their feelings on the DP. Both Xana’s family and Kaylee’s have been vocal that they were pissed with the way this deal went down. Having said all that it does appear all the family’s will be in court tomorrow along with BK’s family. Ethan’s and Brian’s family already put out a statement requesting privacy and won’t be doing any interviews. Hopefully the sentencing date won’t be scheduled too far off, the parents have already waited a while for a trial and they were all prepared to move to Idaho for the duration of it which was expected to start in August.

and no I wouldn’t care if a giant anvil fell out of the sky and flatted him to the core of the earth. I hope they eventually the families will find solace in knowing at some point that the next ten or so years of their lives won’t be filled with appeals.

But it will take them a while to switch gears, they had all already committed to being there for the entire trial which was in just a little over a month and they are just having to change their mindset having been somewhat blindsided by the deal over the weekend. They were all gearing up for a long trial. A battle. Now they have to shift their minds to the new reality so I’m not going to judge them for feeling any type of way after they were all ready to go to trial.

and I bet this fucker will eventually grant interviews. Rooting for an anvil for him.

Nah man.  I get your wanting the family to approve what is happening. But you are operating under a terribly mistaken belief that the family somehow has a right to control what was happening.  They don’t. They never do. It would be fucked up if they did. They are angry family members with a legitimate reason to be angry, but with zero reason to run the show.

The goal is to convict an accused murderer, not to let family members spend the county’s money for three months so they can stare angrily at the accused in trial, no matter how much they want that.

Add to that he most likely is a psychopath. And even if I’m wrong in my armchair diagnosis—I truly believe he feels no remorse. He doesn’t care about their pain and anger and rage but he will have to listen to them at his sentencing hearing, The type of person who would set out to do what he has allegedly done feels nothing for the parents and their pain. And never will.

He’s a low rent pussy ass cheap ass version of Michael Myers,

it is entirely possible the state merely used the DP as a bargaining chip. But I would have made him offer a full confession as part of a negotiations for a plea and make him say what he did with his clothing and his murder weapon. Most families don’t get the defendant to say the words guilty and accept responsibility even when they get a conviction. I just pray for them to find some peace and solace they won’t have to sit through what are years of appeals. And will try to find a way to have some semblance of a life without having him be ever present in it.

  8. I don’t normally but I watched quite a bit of News Nation (Brian Entin’s station with Dan Abrams formerly of MSNBC) last night. They have done excellent coverage on this case.

    1. The parents are indeed split with the Goncalves family being the most vocal and wanting both the trial and him to be executed. Xana’s family also wanted a trial. The two other sets of family members appear to be ok with this deal. All four sets of parents had basically been saving up money to live in Idaho for the trial. All four sets have felt that the state has been adversarial with them. They have all been under a gag order for almost the entirety of this case. The DA floated the idea of a plea at the end of a meeting with the parents on Friday. Then the next day they received an email with the plea deal and an attached letter with the DA writing he felt they would all be pleased with this as it would spare them the gruesome details of the trial and spare them years of appeals. He will never get out.

    2. it would have been impossible to please all four sets of parents, but he will plead guilty if the Judge accepts the deal, and admit to killing all four and waive his rights to any appeals and die in prison. Which given the uncertainty of appeals and any antics at trial is more than most family members in other cases get.

    3. If he pleads guilty to murdering all four he’s a fucking monster. No different from the fictional Michael Myers in Halloween. Many people believe that Maddie was the target. He had no idea that Kaylee was also in her room. Intended to sneak into the house and sexually assault and murder Maddie and it turned into a blood bath. I struggle with my feelings on the Death Penalty but do believe in it for cases like this one and at the very least his fear of being put down caused him to take this plea.

like others have mentioned: the state tore down the house. This I felt like could be an appealable issue along with multiple challenges about the DNA genealogy site and his expectation of privacy on how they connected him to the knife sheath. The defense had already requested yet another delay in this case last week which was denied and I had every expectation the defense would try multiple shenanigans at trial to get a mistrial. And further push back the process. And it did feel as though the state just wants all this shit to go away. Their approach to this case has been almost reluctant like they didn’t want to be there. If you can’t get all gung ho about keeping a quadruple murderer who took a selfie right after the killings and was already on Amazon looking to replace his knife when can you?

pretty much agree with most of what y’all have said. At the end of the day he will die in jail and have admitted guilt, I just feel he’s better suited to target practice as he will offer nothing in this life and imo cannot be rehabilitated. He’s just a place holder of a human being.

I have no idea how I would act if one of my family members was a victim, but I’d like to think that I would not want to be put through the trauma of a trial. I would like to think that I would find peace knowing that this guy will never spend another day of his life as a free man.

I have no idea how I would act either. I would like to think the same but you have four sets of parents and all seem to want different things. At least two sets wanted a trial. And one set of parents definitely wanted the firing squad. At the end of the day, I was concerned more shenanigans by the defense attorney. And if the Judge approves and accepts the plea deal it’s over and he has to admit guilt. And maybe other things as well. And a lot of families don’t get that even with a conviction. So there is that.  It’s hard because for the past several months I been sparring with all these asshole Papa Roger types on X who believed he was framed and I just want to shove shit in their faces if he does admit guilt in all four killings. These people are like incels on steroids and I just want to crush them. I don’t even think him pleading guilty and writing a long statement of what he did and why and how and even producing a bloody knife he stowed away somewhere will ever shut them up. Ever.

I mean it’s pretty stupid.  Dateline said no DNA evidence was found in his car which would introduce substantial doubt into the case of him being the killer.  They presented so much more odd stuff about this guy though that I think he’s one mentally twisted individual.  He would go on hikes in the middle of the night in the woods by himself.  I mean what was he doing, meeting with Satan and Son of Sam’s followers.  He also broke into his fellow grad students apartment and took random things apparently more than once.  They have his car on the security camera multiple times and his cell phone pings.  Seems pretty clear to me.  He did it.

Some people think the DA’s office leaked that shit to Dateline for the new special they did a month ago. Add to that last week the defense in an hearing offered up four individuals as alternate suspects. In Idaho the defense must do this pretrial. I’m actually cool with that,

The Judge said no. That all four people had been cleared via DNA so the writing was on the wall that the defense was strapped into the rollercoaster 🎢 and no off-ramp. The state was more than thrilled to take this plea but I do wonder what the Judge will think of how they “consulted” with the family members on this case and if it meets the terms of the Victims Rights Act.

The Judge was pretty pissed about the Dateline leaks. I mean Dateline even had never before seen camera views of his vehicle speeding away from the crime scene.

    TLDR:

So in short, the Judge would not allow the defense to present at trial any of their alternate suspects and the state never wanted to try the case anyway. So we get a plea which does save a lot of time and money. He will die in jail I guess and he has to admit guilt for all four murders.

But damn I feel bad for the families.

I haven’t followed the case and only read posts from the recent update.  but he has defenders?

Yes. And some are saying he still did not do this. But we shall all see at the change of plea hearing on Wednesday. This hearing might be a huge clusterfuck if some of the parents are super pissed. Steve Gonclaves was on News Nation tonite urging people who know the Judge to persuade the Judge not to accept the plea deal. Brian Entin (who I follow for many cases bc he’s simply superb and he never sleeps I guess) has been amazing on this story. His thoughts are below and I don’t disagree.  The gonclaves family has felt from day one the victims families were treated as adversaries by the state. They put out a rather lengthy statement which can be found on Brian Entin’s page. It’s really pretty shitty but I think Brian is spot on here.

I'm not saying he didn't do it. He's not admitted anything yet. The tentative plan is for him to admit for the plea deal. If you're going to kill him either way, then why would he plead?

If the knife can be found and he can lead them to it and it still has DNA on it I might “accidentally” kill him on the way back to jail, oops my taser I mean my gun went off oops my bad. Right thru the heart too. Damn.

IMO, plea deals don't involve the "how or why." Simply a plea of guilty or No Contest to the agreed upon charges.

I know that Idaho has the State Victims Rights Act which requires the state to consult with the victims’ families for such a deal. I guess we will see at the change of plea hearing on Wednesday. I would at the very least they would be able to face him and make victim impact statements to him. Who knows? I would prefer for the sake of the victims that he make a complete confession but I don’t want to ever speak for them. If it’s my child I’d want to know why. But that’s me. And I do realize that with a whack job like him who is likely a psychotic sexual sadist we will never truly know WHY even if he tries to explain it. He serves no purpose other than target 🎯 practice in my view and I wrestle with those thoughts bc I pretty much don’t like the DP but if ever there was a case that fits it’s this.

  14. The parents of the victims are world class pissed and supposedly want the Judge to delay his decision to accept the plea deal when they have the hearing on Wednesday. At least two sets of parents wanted him to face trial (Xana and Kalyee’s parents) so I don’t know if that will factor into the judge’s decision. Reporters are still trying to get the terms of this deal so I am assuming it’s not an Alford Plea and he will have to admit guilt and I suppose the how and why which would honestly be better than years of appeals or some kind of antic at trial that causes a mistrial and further delays.

the BK defenders are super quiet on X. Allegedly he wrote letters to the family members of the victims. Trying to get all of this confirmed but it all comes from very reliable sources who have covered this story in depth from day one,

  15. holy fucking shitballs.

also sounds like the parents of the victims were blindsided by this. I’ve always believed he was guilty as fuck and deserved the fire squad awaiting him. Still…3 years later basically and they bypass the family members when they had a pretty damn good case against this destined to be fish food loser.
