  1. I agree with the thought that this could have been a trilogy but considering the real world pressures in just getting this done (remember, part II was not even guaranteed), I think Denis did an excellent job. The Chani part will be controversial, but the relationship was well done and did a lot of the heavy lifting as to what costs Paul was going to bear. The movie was a not so sneaky love story, and I understand a recent interview that Denis had about this angle more. I thought the transition from Paul taking up the mantle to the actual battle was the weakest part of the movie, but the novel suffers from that as well. Rebeca Ferguson was outstanding. The simple shot of her face when she was talking to her daughter and deciding on the strategy of conversion while staring at the Fremen was great. I don't get the Austin Butler love. This is like one of the simplest character types to play, and I guess he hit that mark, but he is like deadwood as an actor.

Not sure if there is some other significance that you are remembering, but ...

Abomination refers to Paul actually being the Kwisatz Haderach with all the Bene Gesserit powers.  Jessica was supposed to birth a female that, as part of the Bene Gesserit breeding program would have been coerced to marry Feyd Rautha and birth a male child.  That male child was supposed to be the Kwisatz Haderach that the Bene Gesserit would manipulate/control.  Mohaim despised Paul since birth (also why she went hard on him with the "hand in the box" test).  She was so mad about Jessica's betrayal / Paul's existence, that she was the mastermind that set everything in motion (via the Emperor) to destroy House Atreides.

    Spoiler

hmm. don't think that was it. at least in the books. I know it was used to refer to Paul here by Mohain, but in the novels, it is a reference to Alia.

Can’t say that thought hasn’t crossed my mind since departures became official, but if so, I would bet on them being more on the defensive side of the ball

agreed. WR corps is young, but loaded. Baxter should take a jump next year. Best OL didn't go anywhere. QB will have talent + experience.

  4. AD's talent was always obvious. his two knocks are his focus erring at times, and his occasional atrocious blocking. Being WR4 on the board might be beneficial to him, as it betters his chance of landing in a better organization

Let’s be honest here.  Now they’re fucking with the suburban/upscale whites.  They can manage their way around actual abortions in their private lives but birth control and IVF?  Everyone of them either knows someone who did IVF or did it themselves.  Same with birth control.

Suburban white women are the fucking mother lode of demographic groups.  Peel just 5-10% of them off and they’re toast.

Find out after fucking around, I guess.

people have been waiting on suburban White women to save everything for like 3 elections now... their voting records say otherwise

Think you are confusing him with Nix - Nix is the one who struggled in Senior Bowl practices.

Penis was named one of the top 10 "winners" from Senior Bowl practices: https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-senior-bowl-daniel-jeremiah-s-top-10-nfl-draft-winners-from-week-of-practice

    Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

Getting acclimated to new surroundings as the Senior Bowl is always a challenge for quarterbacks, especially early in the week as they learn a new offense with new terminology and new teammates. Penix spun the ball better than anybody else here, though. I was most impressed by his ability to hang on his back foot and get the ball out with unbelievable zip and accuracy. He exceeded expectations with his performance in practices. Of course, medical evaluations are going to be a big part of his draft evaluation as teams look into the season-ending injuries he suffered during his time at Indiana, but he did everything he needed to do this week. His teammate on the National squad, Oregon QB Bo Nix, improved over the course of the week and he might look his best in the game on Saturday.

depends on who you ask then.

    1. Pretty open-ended one to start: What’s the first thing that jumped out to you about Dane’s latest rankings?

Nick Baumgardner: I wanted to see where Dane landed on the J.J. McCarthy–Bo Nix–Michael Penix Jr. group after the Senior Bowl. Nix and Penix didn’t have great weeks in Mobile — the former was better than the latter. That’s not the biggest deal in the world, but they did miss a chance to alleviate some concerns about middle-of-the-field comfortability and downfield accuracy versus pressure. I can’t get there on giving either Nix or Penix a first-round grade (I can see why some might with Nix).

I think like most QBs, his success will come down to placement in the right team and circumstances.

It's Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, and then a bit of a crapshoot from there. And Caleb has most of the elements of a big character/mental risk. Some teams will get it right and want to claim genius from hindsight, some will get it wrong and then everyone will act like visitors to a leper colony and then state that they always thought that particular QB sucked anyways
