I really don’t think that I want to sit in a dark theatre for three hours with the type of viewer this movie will probably attract.  I’m sure I’ll watch it when it hits streaming, if the country is still around then

Same here. This shit is a little too on the nose for me to get excited about as mere entertainment, and I sure as shit have no interest in sitting in a theater full of people who’ve been jacking off to The Turner Diaries for decades. Morbid curiosity says I’ll probably stream it in the sanity and relative safety of my own home at some point. My kids have already had to deal with “What kind of American are you?” at school the day after an election a while back.

  2. I like Pog’s program for next year and can’t wait to watch. He’s obviously capable of winning the Giro-Tour double, but I’m not ready to make a significant wager on that until we get to see how he looks in the Classics and get a better look at how the team changes affect the dynamic and hierarchy of the peloton. Lots of riders with big goals in 2024. I’m all the way in for all of it. LFG!

Today I learn that Kip Winger writes classical music. Not only that, but his music is performed by city symphonies.

Those guys in the Winger got a raw deal, thanks to Beavis and Butthead. I love Mike Judge but poor Winger. Not that their music was great, but there were no worse than other hair metal bands of that era.

Reb Beach was an absolute monster on guitar. And I think their drummer was pretty legit too.

I’m sure there’s no shortage of great players from music scenes like hair metal, bro country, and flavor of the month pop acts, etc. Sometimes you gotta pay the bills with the understanding that you might not achieve the respect or recognition you’re looking for if the music you make has an expiration date on popularity or relevance, which probably most music. That makes it even more incredible for the musicians who create stuff that stands the test of time.  We’ll see if Kip can compose as well as other rockers like Stewart Copeland and Jonny Greenwood.

But are there even 5 posters here who know who Leonard Bernstein was or why he was important?

Seriously? This isn’t Texags. We have a robust music forum with many professional, amateur, and hobbyist players, composers, producers, and just all around legit music fanatics. I’m sure we will get internet from more than 5 Surly posters. Hell, I watch music documentaries and biopics for artists I’m not even into just because I’m fascinated by the process and what make them tick as artists. I’m in.

I love how they keep taking about the timeline of when they expect to be “getting a natty” with no mention whatsoever of a conference championship game appearance, conference title, or other milestones on the way to marked improvement. They’ll never understand why they’re further from greatness (or actual relevance) than they believe. Never change, aggy.
