Going for 700 on 2ndary now. Don’t understand the price jump

They are not making it anymore. Last year of the four grain. The one replacing this is the Amaranth Grain of the Gods. It most likely will not be cheaper. Sounds like an expensive bourbon to me.

It’s just one craft distiller, some dude, and a podcast, but The Bourbon Daily guys recommend buying Kentucky Owl Confiscated. It aired on April 30.

    Cliffs:

    - Drinks 10 proof points higher than 98.6.

    - Complex. Most of the stated tasting notes come through.

    - Good mouth feel. Sits well on the palette.

    - Holds up throughout the pour.

    - The distiller reviewer speculates the age to be 6-8 years.

Its all about the years these days. If its 6 to 8 years it will sit on the shelves. If its 10 years or more. You will not be able to find it except on FB for 2 to 3 times the price.

Traded a W12 1.75 and OWA 1L to a buddy for his 2018 GTS that’s missing 2oz and also picked up a Stagg Jr Batch 11 for $55. Yesterday BigDHornFan muled an EHT 4G for me. This has been a pleasant 24hrs

    Well Played.

Picked up the OE7 at a little liquor store in Rochester, NY. My B-I-L and I finished the bottle in 2 days. Really great stuff.

I found a lonely bottle on my through Mississippi a few months ago. I didn't pick it up. I'm a dummy.

MGP ever going to release their own bourbon? Or are they just making too much money selling to these startups right now?

Google tells me they released a 4 year old high rye mash bourbon called George Remus.

I will have to check it out but wonder if they will ever release a Remus 12 year or something

The repeal II supposedly is a batch of 10 & 11 years. I would think it should be pretty good. Haven't opened mine yet.

Blend of Tennessee (presumably Dickel) and Indiana (MGP).

The MGP wins by a Nose

    snd it is Dickel

Then why do you want to know if it is worth $100?

I didn’t ask that question. Is it worth compared to others, yes. Can I find it cheaper, yes to this also.

Is it worth a C note?

Yes, but I can find it for about half of that if you look long enough. I’ve seen probably 10 Of them on shelf in last two weeks from $58 to $80. The A918 maybe the best value for the money at 135+ proof.

    not for the weak hearted

Before you ask - this is amazing.  I know because I had it a while back at Brennan's.

However last night Mrs. Brown Water decided I didn't need anymore and poured this glass down the sink because I left it on the kitchen counter to breathe.

Don't worry guys, she is ok.  But I'm taking suggestions on how she should rectify this matter.

I think you should move along. You must have done something to piss her off. Take it from me. You can never win in the situations. Besides, she probably home only with your babies than you are.

  10. Found a ETL for $49.00 today or maybe it was yesterday now, plus a Stagg jr for $59 sitting next to it. I was confused by the pricing, but not enough not to buy them both.

  11. Found a Michters 10 rye several weeks ago for around $150 and bought it. May not see another for several years. Found a couple of M10's for $200 last week and said no way. I haven't seen an M10 on a shelf for less than that in over a year. He should go back and buy it, because if he doesn't someone else will. Better to have, than have not. They aren't getting cheaper.

    Saw a bottle of Michter’s 10yr in Dillon, Co....was excited until I saw a price of $170.

That’s probably is good as it’s going to get, unless you get lucky.

I’m in Connecticut visiting my wife’s family. Saw this at the package store. Never seen this in Tulsa but seen it discussed on bourbon bro pages. Is it worth buying and shipping home?

Never had NM, but the one to the right is pretty good.

In my neck of the woods you won’t find 23 for under $2300. I’m not saying it’s right, or even that it is worth it. Just that if you want it, be prepared to pony up the cash. Hell, Lot B is getting close to $1000.

I have the Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary. I'm scared to open it. Its too pretty and supposedly the highest rated WT ever rated, according to several publications.

That does look cool. How much did you pay for it? It says about 130 MSRP on the internet, but that seems kind of low for a 16 year bourbon.

    $130 is right

I had a pour of Wild Turkey Rare Breed earlier today. Pretty, pretty good.

Turkey 101 is the bourbon I grew up on. A pint of 101 and a fountain Sprite is the Texas Football Gameday Drink.

Picked up a bottle of Barrel Dovetail today.  Never heard of it and had mixed opinions on Barrel from prior experience.  Fortunately the store had a sample. It was really good with my only objection being the alcohol burn in the finish. I expect that will mellow with some age in the open bottle. Recommend if you happen across a bottle.

I have yet to buy a Barrel product yet, but have done plenty of samples. I have liked pretty much everything I have tried so for. Still debating to buy the 14 year.

Where in the helllllll did you find the Bookers30?  Ive never even seen it in a bar...

A little store between Slidell and Gulfport. Had PVW 23yr sitting right next to it. The B30 was $239. The 23 was $1,799. We had a nice disagreement to what the MSRP was for the Pappy. I told her around $250 and she claimed they paid over $1,000.  I came back through the next day and it was gone. I got a good deal compared to that idiot. It won't even get you laid. An OFC replaced it for $2,300.

  19. I had a nice trip yesterday. Picked up a ER 10, ECBP A119 135 proof, a Boone County 13yr (cha-ching) and drum roll (this will piss off BFLT) Bookers 30th. Its been hella-of-a-6months.

I’m sure some of you received the ridiculous Blanton’s email from Village Liquor last night. Village claimed to be the “exclusive Blanton’s retailer in Houston” whatever that means. I think it means they’re authorized to sell Blanton’s merch.

One bottle of Blanton and wooden cuff links: $75

One bottle of Blanton’s and maple syrup: $115

One bottle of Blanton’s and a tote bag: $175

All theee options sold out within minutes. $175 for Blanton’s and a beach bag seems absurd to me. It’s much cheaper on the secondary market. Where are these people coming from? Who are they? Do they not know any better?

Really. Do you not know any better.

im thinking about standing on side of road with my Blantons for $150 each, I like Blantons a lot, but their are a lot of newbie bourbon affectionatos that don’t know any better.

edit: standing the side of the road selling liquor may get me arrested.
