When we toured there they said it was only 30% of student body involved in Greek life, which is about double UT but lower than some other schools we visited (like TCU).

If your kid wants to go Greek first semester (boys perspective) at UArk, then make sure they attend events during the summer rush events as many freshmen show up with “pre-bids” going into rush. A lot of the “slots” are already filled before rush starts at the “main” frats so a lot of boys who expect to get a bid just participating in the rush events don’t get one… And with all the Dallas kids there, the Houston and Austin kids are at a disadvantage since there is a pipeline already in place from the Dallas schools and most rush events are in Dallas…

    daughter actually (no pics). thanks.

I hated the idea of any of my kids going to pig but the tuition discount is very hard to ignore.

You learn to cope… With the 70% tuition, it works out to be slightly less than Tech…

Jaws when I was 11. Led to pretty much a lifelong fear of the ocean.

Saw this when I was 12-13 when I went to Chicago to camp.  2 weeks after camp, family vacation in Pensacola.  Dad rented a catamaran and took me to sail the bay and dumped it in the middle of the bay. That was a good 20 minute absolute panic attack as dad tried to flip it back over and me trying to walk on water... Two other boats came up to see who died from all my screaming and dad not knowing how to right it...

To this day, I can't wade or bodyboard in the surf unless there is at least one person further out than me in the surf... (not that it would matter, but still...)

  4. Just started Blue Lights which is a Brit/Irish tv series that has a few rookie cops paired with some more senior partners in modern day Ireland.  Have made it through 3 episodes of S1 (there are 2 with a 3rd coming) and it hasn't been too bad...  I think you can find on Prime if not elsewhere... I have been watching with captions due to the accents...

So probably 4X the cost of grid power, give or take?  (Plus the cost of the generator itself.)

Does anyone care on the cost at that point?  Lights/fans/internet/a/c vs none?  I don't care about the cost and more about not sweating my balls off for a few days...  :)

He's in Founders and has a parking pass that we got for him for the year.  We're planning on parking at the Fayetteville HS like we did for the UAB game.  $20 and the walk's not bad to the stadium.  I will say the second week I took him for orientation I dropped him off and got lost as I had to park further away.  Fucking hell.  Walking that campus, those stairs, man.  I'm in decent shape, but it kicked my ass.

Mine are down the hill at Pomfret by the stadium - they joke that the have to climb Currahee to go to classes... "3 miles up, 3 mile down..." Their parking is at Harmon (on the hill) so needless to say, not many miles being put on the car but on game days, to get the car back into the garage, they need to get a pass otherwise they cant get back onto campus until after the game restrictions end (supposedly). We may just Uber for the UT game as our rental is just on the other side of the "freeway". I'll PM you closer to the game to see where you are tailgating...

Fayetteville HS?  We did too.  We have friends with a pre-set-up tailgating tent.  Next time there is a home game, message me and I'll tell you where we are.  It's across the main road where the food trucks are, by the little creek that cuts through the tailgating section.

My twins are freshmen there as well (supply chain). If your kid has on campus parking, they supposedly can get a tag from the parking department that allows them to get on/off campus to get back to their garage on game days.  Our plan for the UT game is to have them pick us up from our rental condo on game day. (According to one of the parent FB groups)

  8. Out of the blue, I just received a certified letter today from my appraisal district that my hearing happened in July and my house had been appraised 90K over the value.  (I had used https://www.protestingpropertytaxes.com/ and just submitted their report for an affidavit hearing).  While I had indicated I a) wanted to see their appraiser and 2) wanted email notifications of everything going on on the form, I heard nada until I got this letter. Stayed the same final value as the 30K I got off of the appraisal last year so I'm pleased...
