Despite all the noise, this is the right answer. Go with him, let him play a variety of guitars. There are literally thousands of perfectly good guitars at this price point. See which one fits.

An entry level/ practice modeling amp is also a great idea.

It’s like shoes. If you buy a badass pair that looks cool, but doesn’t fit right, you aren’t gonna wear them. To further overuse metaphors, you are less like to wear the sweater grandma bought you for Christmas than the one you picked yourself.

I'll definitely do this.  Thoughts on that entry level modeling amp?

  2. Thanks guys.  His guitar playing has been mostly classic rock stuff.  For some reason, he's a big Grateful Dead fan.  I understand that a strat is more versatile than a tele, but don't really understand why.  Is it the extra pickup?  What types of music would one prefer a tele versus a strat?  Sorry for all the questions.

  3. Hey guys.  My 17 yr old has picked up the guitar this last year and is really into it.  He has an acoustic and I'd like to get him an electric for Christmas.  I'm pretty set on a Squire Tele, but am open to other suggestions.

As for amp/headphones, I'd love to get your thoughts on reasonably priced beginner-type options.

No, that name doesn't ring a bell.  I did very little work at ARL.  My research ended up in high-power rotating machines and linear accelerators at Center for Electromechanics.  I did get loaned out to ARL to do a little work on the design of a novel underwater transducer, but it never went anywhere as far as I know.

As was mentioned above - take a look at your water consumption as well.  It varies, but many if not most people have settled into a state of semi-dehydration and don't know it because it just feels normal.  Try upping your water intake and see if that helps as well.  The good news is that there are no real downsides either.

Several studies have shown that the average ideal water consumption for an adult male is 3.5 - 4 liters per day.  Most people fall short of that and for many, especially if active a number above that amount is needed.

I'm probably to the other extreme, but I found my sweet spot is over 6 liters of water each day.  I keep two 3 liter jugs in the fridge and finish them both throughout the day. Then I also pick up some fluids through coffee and tea or water with meals.  I started that several years ago and the effect has been dramatic.  YMMV but give it a try.

Wow!  6 liters is a shit ton of water, right?  That's like 200 oz?

Thank you. On Copyright, it originates the second art is created. It does not have to be filed with the copyright office.

Outstanding work.  Very powerful.  I know you're a lawyer, but registering it will give you more/better options for enforcing your rights against copiers.

  7. So as it relates to the team segment in that 247 article, he got a ton of shit wrong.  Green played, Foster played, Overshown played.  Those fuckers make up a huge portion of their 'inside scoop."

  8. I went to the Ragged Branch Distillery in Charlottesville, VA yesterday.  Amazingly beautiful property and set up.  I tried their wheated bourbon, which was very nice.  Check it out if you're ever out there.spacer.png

  9. I know this is somewhat suburban legend, but my step son was ranked #2 in his private school class of ~100 and got a perfect score on the ACT and was CAP'd by UT computer science.  He got in to Harvard.  Un-fucking-believable.  This happened this year.
