Watched the first episode. Didn't grab me, but will keep going.

The most amusing thing about this thread are all the comments singling out Mormonism as a cult, because somehow their version of their sky fairy is weirder than all the other sky fairies out there.
They do believe some really weird shit.

I just heard on the radio that Shohei's English is pretty good, but the reason he does his interviews in Japanese is because the Japanese TV audience is so huge they want to hear it in Japanese. Makes sense. I've heard him speak English and it isn't that bad.

RIP Cobra. He was my 5 yo self's nemesis while battling Glenn Davis for the NL HR crown but Schmidt ended up waxing them both.
Watched the Cobra at Dodger Stadium more than once. He was so good. He and Stargell were a brutal 1-2 -

Can’t you just get the cataracts removed?
Yes, and that’s what’s happening. The optometrist said the vision disparity in the 2 eyes is too great to wear glasses. Not until September though

So Bruin likely heard he has 45 in last two seasons after his one tonight.

Huh? He's caught 13 of 55 this season.
Sorry I thought that’s what they said on Sportsnet LA. I was wrong.

Damn Freddie picked that for the win. Now officially the best record in the league

Not only is Will Smith leading the NL in avg, he also leads all of MLB in 45 caught stealings. I think we’ve got catcher covered for awhile.

Shohei lead off dinger. Who would ever think a $700 million dollar contract would be considered a bargain? The amount of additional money they are making locally and abroad, they are probably money ahead, way ahead, from that signing.

Point of order, birthright citizenship arose under the 14th Amendment in about 1870, not the 1789 timeframe of the original Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Was that before or after the Declaration of Independence? You know, that beautiful document that ended the Civil War?

That cunt Biondi is arguing that “times have changed” and that the framers didn’t intend for birthright citizenship to apply in the way it is being “abused” today. OK, then let’s apply the same argument to the 2nd amendment.

I mean you and your condom buddies are the ones who destroyed the conference, kind of disingenuous to be bitching about what happens to what you left behind. (no criticism of the decision, money is money).
I know. I REALLY wish everything had gone down differently. But Kliavkoff botched the TV deal so badly, after Larry Scott had botched it horrifically the first time, that the conference was doomed. Or would've been relegated to also ran status.

Apparently the formal invite has been extended and they'll vote it in Monday.
I wish they would just change the name of the conference. For this shit product to carry the great name of the PAC 8/10/12 is a travesty.

Yeah, I don't think the impacts will be felt for awhile. There have only been a handful of permits issued in Altadena. The labor demand hasn't begun to be felt.

Point taken. I can tell you that SoCal construction has not been brought to a standstill due to ice (I could point to half dozen other factors)
But SoCal construction COSTS are through the freaking roof. This will not help.

you serious, clark? This is going to work out well when we are trying to rebuild over 6,500 homes and 3,000 commercial properties in Altadena at the same time, all while under the specter of ICE raids.

Dude, this is where we had to pick up our mail for a couple of months after the fires. Fuck this guy. No way I leave. I let him put hands on me and then engage counsel.

Most private business premises are private property. However, those that don't own it, like employees and patrons, are "invitees" who are guests of the owners for certain purposes. A lot of businesses are open to invitees who just need to walk in the door.
A business wouldn't have to change it's "character," but it would have to restrict those whom it invites or permits onto the premises. So, yeah, in that sense, a "private club," members only, with an invitation, etc.
If a private business lets any member of the public enter, then officers can go there too. If it is restricted, then I believe they can deny entry to officers.
If it's "public entry" for everyone but officers, that may be a little too cute. But, I think an owner is entitled to close up shop whenever they want.
But any business can deny service to anyone they choose. Can they not deny access to anyone they choose?

Island bound in the am. Will be solo until Friday afternoon when the wife comes out. First time just the two of us were alone aboard out there since we were borrowing my buddy's Catalina 36 (exact same year version and we did it 3-4 times- we were out there on 9/11). Hope we can rekindle some young lust. But 2 full days solo should be fun. Hope to also be posting in the fishing thread. That's gonna be my focus for the next 2 days.
