  1. If breakfast is your thing, Cafe Pasqual's is a great high-end choice.  Cafe Tecolote is more of a local kind of place to get your fix of chiles on your eggs.  Always be sure to order "Christmas" (red and green sauce together) on everything.  Happy hour at Inn of the Anasazi, especially if you can snag a patio, seat is always fun.

  2. In re: Memphis:

Rendezvous' ribs were tasteless in a recent visit.  Under-cooked and under-seasoned.  Sides were blah.  OTOH, fun crowd and atmosphere with good local beer by the pitcher, which is nice.

Gus's (though not BBQ, for the sake of thread purists), is a winner.

  3. I consider myself an evangelical Christian of the Anglican persuasion.  That means that I don't have to cross my fingers when I recite the Nicene Creed every Sunday.  I'm also no white nationalist. As to our political leaders, we pray for them regularly:

O LORD our Governor, whose glory is in all the world; We commend this nation to thy merciful care, that being guided by thy Providence, we may dwell secure in thy peace. Grant to THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and to all in Authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness; and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

As to any individual politician's personal morality and spiritual life -- that's totally on them and between them and their creator.

You think those are the only three ingredients he uses? If you even looked at the photo you posted you’d know you’re wrong.

My point is that Valentina's seems to have left out a couple of those ingredients.  Pale, pink pintos are no bueno.

I have no idea who Jane Ellen Bryant is, and I certainly don't know if she can write for shit (which ultimately doesn't matter all THAT much), but if covering somebody's song with this backing band isn't a few legs up then I don't know what is:

    David Grissom

    Cindy Cashdollar

    Yoggie Musgrove

    Brannen Temple

    Joel Guzman

    Sarah Sharp

    Malford Milligan

That is a great line-up!  Her Road to Austin single is the only cover I've ever seen her do.

Beans look weak.  Comino, black pepper and and chili powder.  How do it work?

Bloody Mary's.  They will come with a beer chaser.  People outside of the Upper Midwest don't seem to understand the brilliance of this.

    Brats.  Duh.

Truth.  Had a Bloody Mary with a beer chaser.  Ended up pouring some of it into my drink like a Michelada.  Folks looked at me like a guy with two heads.  Also ordered some steamed mussels -- of course the mussels were steamed with brats!

Dinner was at Carnevor.  Solid place.  Loved bar-hopping on Brady Street.  Downtown Milwaukee is a pretty cool place.

Mader's is pretty authentic/old-school and considered a favorite in Milwaukee.  I'd also think long and hard about ditching a 2.5 hr. dinner and taking everybody to a 2.5 hr brewers game.

Thanks.  Another friend mentioned Mader's.  I looked at the menu -- People in WI must be huge!  How does anybody eat that much food?
