What’s the score?  The NCAA tracker doesn’t even list It

NCAA stats has aggy/Indiana game from this afternoon loaded into our current game.  Horns win 9-7 and advance to Super-Regional!  Yay!

  2. Another Raw Deal, on West 6th.  Basically where Z'Tejas is now.  Steak, Whiskey and a great juke box.

Jake's on 5th Street, just east of Lamar.  Great fried oysters, juke box and a wavy shuffleboard.

Sid's on North Lamar, south of 38th Street, where a post office is now located.  The Rat Pack would have loved that joint until the day it closed.

La Fiesta at North Loop and Burnet Road.  Great tex-mex and huge murals depicting the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto -- kinda' interesting given that it was a tex-mex place!

Just got back from a week in Princeville. Couple of PSAs for anybody going anytime soon. Area past Hanalei is open only to locals at the moment. That means no access to places like Haena Beach or Tunnels. Won't be opened back up until August or so. Dolphin restaurant in Hanalei damaged and closed for repairs right now. Still raining like crazy at north end of island. Poipu side still magnificent. None of above would keep me from going, though. Still had great time.

Good to know.  We love the north side of the island and have been looking at booking  a Thanksgiving trip.

A Man in Full was my favorite work of his.

A Man in Full was my favorite of his fiction works.  But The Right Stuff was truly an incredible non-fiction piece.  From what I've read, Wolfe did all the research to figure out the whole story of the conflict between the Yeager-style ballsy test pilots and the media-friendly John Glenn-style chimps on top of a missile.  Compelling read.  RIP.

  5. This place has generally begun to suck since the Abel's guys took it over a couple of years ago.  Now, it seems that they are behind on their rent on the West 5th store and a fight has ensued over the El Arroyo trademark.  Perhaps the high-rise that ends up getting built there will preserve the daily marquee postings?

  6. If breakfast is your thing, Cafe Pasqual's is a great high-end choice.  Cafe Tecolote is more of a local kind of place to get your fix of chiles on your eggs.  Always be sure to order "Christmas" (red and green sauce together) on everything.  Happy hour at Inn of the Anasazi, especially if you can snag a patio, seat is always fun.

  7. In re: Memphis:

Rendezvous' ribs were tasteless in a recent visit.  Under-cooked and under-seasoned.  Sides were blah.  OTOH, fun crowd and atmosphere with good local beer by the pitcher, which is nice.

Gus's (though not BBQ, for the sake of thread purists), is a winner.

  8. I consider myself an evangelical Christian of the Anglican persuasion.  That means that I don't have to cross my fingers when I recite the Nicene Creed every Sunday.  I'm also no white nationalist. As to our political leaders, we pray for them regularly:

O LORD our Governor, whose glory is in all the world; We commend this nation to thy merciful care, that being guided by thy Providence, we may dwell secure in thy peace. Grant to THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and to all in Authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness; and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

As to any individual politician's personal morality and spiritual life -- that's totally on them and between them and their creator.

You think those are the only three ingredients he uses? If you even looked at the photo you posted you’d know you’re wrong.

My point is that Valentina's seems to have left out a couple of those ingredients.  Pale, pink pintos are no bueno.
