  1. My bride heard the same thing about that place.  We have only done Thai and Vietnamese for the past decade.  It is on our list.

This means a 14% increase during the non-busy periods for just the Mopac expressway:

Such bullshit to use CPI as a cover for increasing toll rates.  The interest rates on the bonds they sold to build the toll roads have not increased.  Maybe they are gonna use the extra money to pay off the bonds early and stop charging tolls?  /sarc

So…being that this is the enchiladas thread….here we go:

I dare one of y’all to make those.

And if you’re feeling super adventurous, tackle this one. But first, you need a can of tamales:

I’m not gonna lie, the recipes with ground beef and tator tots look like they’ll eat. And the breakfast casserole recipes actually look good.

But dear lord, midwestern people…y’all just aren’t good at the “anything remotely spicy or ethnic” thing.

You should have put a spoiler on that post!  I can't unsee the horror.

    Cheese Whiz enchiladas?

Damn, you fuckers scared the shit out of me. My flight isn’t getting in until 9:00pm Saturday and was worried I wouldn’t be able to pick up a 12 pack on the way home. So beer / wine from a normal store is still ok after 10:00 on Sunday, right?  The dumbass lege didn’t go full Taliban in the two weeks I was gone?

You should be good on beer/wine at normal hours at grocery stores this weekend.

    So basically.... Dallas.

First time I was in Dallas (1990s) above 21 with a gf visiting her aunt and was going out to pick up food before coming back to watch the Cowboys game. She told me, "Pick up some beer, too." This was before cell phones.

I didn't know it was a dry county. I thought it was weird that Kroger didn't have beer, but thought maybe the crappy neighborhood had something to do with it. Then the next grocery store didn't have beer either. Then several gas stations without beer.

Eventually it became a mission to find beer no matter what. I got on 35 and got off every exit and looked around and then went to the next exit. The only reason I saw the liquor store was because cops were surrounding a car in the parking lot. Went in and got beer. That's when I was told it was a dry county and you can only get beer at liquor stores.

Finally made it back to the aunt's house almost 2 hours later. Gf had been getting worried but was trying not to alarm elderly aunt. She knew it was a dry county but forgot to tell me I had to go to a liquor store.

    /csb

Pretty sure that Dallas dry stuff in the 1990s was at a precinct level within a county.  And yes, the big liquor retailers were very active politically to preserve those dry statuses so as to keep their stores located on the boundaries very profitable.

No "ale" exemption? I know you can't call it "beer" in Texas and it be over 5%. Unless that's changed.

It has been years since I was in Oklahoma.

Me, too.  I am behind the times.  It looks like they changed the law in 2018/19.  No more 3.2.  Full strength beer is now legal in OU Sucks.  I'm guessing that meth had gained a big competitive advantage over weak beer.

    The "every weekend" part.

The first time I saw a liquor store open on Sunday in Oklahoma I did a double take.

But only 3.2 beer.  You have to take the good with the bad.

Attempting for the 14th time this season to find an 8 year old 12 pointer on the ranch. In early November, we set up a pop-up on some trails out of his home area. No dice. He normally will start showing up for corn in early December. I start getting pictures of him in one of his normal spots and get an opportunity to hunt him. Head out there and receive a picture from a friend at another blind with a picture of him.

Eventually I will get lucky. In the meantime, I’ve been able to find this youngster several times this week.

Hopefully my wife isn’t too upset when I spend every January weekend at the ranch trying to find this buck.

Here is the buck I’m hunting.

why make it 4 lanes of traffic when the road goes to 2 lanes just east of there?

Maybe it is a tacit admission that the "road diet" that they have imposed on Barton Springs is an abject failure and will eventually be undone?
