We've had around 3 inches so far this new year at our place between Menard and Eldorado. As our ranch foreman is fond of saying, "the place has it's Sunday suits on." There has been no livestock grazing there the past two years due to drought. Not sure if that will change this year.

Great game tonight. Both teams/coaches have a lot of respect for each other.
That was one hell of an at-bat by Flores to get that homer!

Finally. Someone had the courage to talk about how awful beets are. I hated them as a kid when my poor, unsophisticated mother served them out of a can. And I hate them just as much today in all of those awful, trendy, gourmet dishes. It’s like eating dirt. Beets just suck. Mushrooms, too.
My rep was only about beets. Mushrooms are awesome!

I mean this isn't really that much conspiracy. The derivatives market is completely fucking insane. The whole collapse part may be a bit dramatic and the whole "plan" of the great taking is maybe a bit on the conspiracy side. You can't argue with derivative markets being completely out of touch with reality and thus the stock market being completely divorced from reality.
You are not wrong. Pre-covid, I questioned what was driving market valuations, so I put together a small play portfolio in my non taxable accounts of stocks that had solid dividend histories. 75 percent of them stopped paying dividends. The valuation didn't change all that much. Crazy.

Lanikai Beach and pillbox hike
I was not a big fan of Waikiki. It was a zoo. Staying at the HHV didn't help I'm sure.
Waikiki is basically Las Vegas with beachfront. There really needs to be some sort of licensing authority to permit whether the large European men and women are allowed to wear Speedos or bikinis there!

Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head, obviously. Both are pretty cool. The remaining artillery batteries on Diamond Head give some perspective on what serving in WWII must have been like.

One of the neatest things we did the last time in Oahu was to take a ride to their Chinatown mid-day. All of the fruit, veggie, and meat markets were very interesting. (I had my portrait taken with a whole pig!) Lots of fun restaurants where all that we could do was to point at the pictures on the menus. That would be a fun time for your kids.

I lived there for 5 years but it was too long ago to rec any restaurants now but I will say you need to hit roadside Huli chicken stands and any stand selling loco moco (hamburger patty over rice with a fried egg on top). Mac salad and rice are acceptable as side dishes together while there.
Loco Moco is the nuts. Spam Musubi from the convenience stores is a great thing to bring along on a road excursion.

Heading with the family to Oahu in July. Staying 4 nights in Waikiki and 4 nights on the North Shore. Already have big items planned, Looking for good food recs that won't break the bank as I am not a nurse. (Teacher) also a few cheap side trips to do with family. I appreciate the info.
Happy hours at Dukes in Waikiki are a must. Live music, great drinks, and the very best calamari that you will ever eat.

Yeah, that thing ended up looking really nice after all. We're taking a tour of it later this Spring.
That it looks just like a Rainey Street tombstone facing Town Lake, Nicole? Nah, total coincidence.
I still don't get that fucking goofy hotel next to it. But anyways. Give that goofy ass Holiday Inn credit, how it survives? Then Howie survived?
That Holiday Inn has been a blight forever, but I guess that it is still a cash machine for somebody.

This explains everything honestly. And in under 2 minutes. I just like the music…
I shared this with my brother and I don’t know if he thinks this “where is Kate” shit is as funny as I do or the woman who made this video.
That music is from Carl Orff's classic "Carmina Burana." The movement is "O Fortuna"
Crazy conspiracy theory. Then I realized that it was you, Nicole! Carry on!

I saw online that longtime Austin radio personality David Anderson passed away yesterday.
I met him a few times when I was in the business, great guy.
David was a great guy. Got to know him some through Aquafest over the years. Many mutual friends who all thought the world of him. RIP.

Every time I read this thread I am reminded of the importance of staying away from dealerships for non-warranty work. Those dealership all serve the most expensive "free" cups of coffee that you'll ever drink.

Anybody got any educated speculation about that Nashville crash?
Everyone died. I could go crash my wife’s SUV at 80 with 5 people in it and I doubt we would all die. No airbags in a plane? Where’s Ralph Nader on this one?
Why does a single engine plane with power loss hit the ground so hard? I thought in a power loss you tried to glide that thing down - land it on a road somewhere.
If you lose power at 1600 feet (that’s what I got from the news article) - how far can you glide? I’m guessing you pull some Maverick move where you go into a dive to get the speed up and then pull up at the last second and buzz the tower? That’s probably not how they teach it at school but…
I've been wondering about that, as well. The impact videos demonstrated that they had no lack of fuel. The ATC recordings indicated that English was not the pilot's first language. My guess is after he overran the runway the first time, he made the famous "impossible turn" and lost lift and control.

I'm pretty sure I've paid multiple TxTag tolls multiple times each. It's infuriating.
I switched all of our cars to TollTag several years ago and could not be more pleased. Efficient and no fuck ups.

It's not just poors who bitch about prices. Rich olds bitch about prices too, 'cause back in my day...
Got it. This old hasn't been to one of those fast food places in 20+ years. If I'm desperate, I'll grab sushi at an HEB. Otherwise, I go sit at a restaurant bar and eat real food along with cocktails.
