  1. Man... I think the first person on here to start telling people to shut the fuck up was you. 99% of the posters on this thread were looking for an honest conclusion to a great season of racing and didn't find it - and as has been discussed most don't have a dog in the fight. Pushing the meme pics & tears narrative is fucking weak. Try harder.
  2. But that damned Lewis Hamilton was wearing calfskin boots! Didn't you see?!
  3. Unfortunately I don't see two-way comms (or public ones) going away any time soon. It's an entertainment goldmine and it's now an entertainment-first sport. It's the candor of an NFL Films player mic combined but turbocharged. I would absolutely agree that the RD should be free of any outside interference - even put an intermediary between himself and the teams. Anything to avoid the cringey back & forth (from both sides).
  4. Absolutely. We're Texas fans after all - no more tears left after these few years.
  5. I think you're being deliberately obtuse here. Two very normal procedures were done in ways that, to my knowledge, have never been done. This was a lot more than a gentle massaging of grey areas.
  6. He didn't pit the VSC because they liked the track position. They were right - Max didn't gain close to the 16 seconds he needed to catch him. He didn't pit the SC because they aren't going to give the championship leader the fucking lead with 5 laps to go, and a track filled with machinery and debris.
  7. I think he's an arrogant, petulant prick who happens to drive for the biggest cunt in the sport. I was always going to be salty with a loss but hey, the lead they earned let him drive the way he drove and he's a really fucking fast driver who out-performs his car. If he was faster today then hats off. I wasn't prepared to have it manipulated the way it was. I'm really pissed because of that. Probably overly so but whatever.
  8. I mean if you're arguing he should have followed the rules of the sport I completely agree. If he felt the track was safe then let them overtake on lap 1 of the SC. Hell, maybe lap 2 or 3. That's his choice to make in the rulebook. Alonso et al. were arguing for this very thing to happen for integrity's sake. He officiated the race in a way that would have to end under a yellow flag. Rules don't permit him to allow only a few hand-picked cars to overtake, and then bring the SC in a lap early.
  9. I'll take a true freshman with a limp and walking cane over Christian Jones.
  10. It was good clean, aggressive racing - I enjoyed it. I'm sure it was the last thing he wanted to deal with.
  11. It's not what anyone wanted but they made their bed in Spa
  12. Didn't know you missed me! I'm flattered - be sure to follow
  13. FIA Court of Appeals - Apparently CAS is almost entirely for doping oversight.
  14. Did they have a window that I'm forgetting? Certainly wasn't after the VSC. It's not like they could go for it on 4th down to cement the game - I think the race management was pretty great. Be careful what you wish for - They're all whiny when they're fighting for the top. Maybe D Ric being the exception - hard not to like him.
  15. He's got nothing to stand on. Why not give Sainz the same chance? It's very reasonable to think he might take the win while they fight it out - was he not a leader? Competitive integrity is gone.
  16. Protest #2 not upheld. A race directory just made up the rulebook and decided the champion in probably the most partisan way imaginable. A year of racing rendered meaningless for one lap of artificial DTS drama. Truly a masterclass of incompetence by Michael Masi once again and it's the sport as a whole that suffers. What a fucking embarrassment. Off to CAS I guess - nothing will happen.
  17. Wood in a few hours...
  18. Don't get me started on Group B damnit
  19. To me a lot of new blood spews the "OMG the drama is crazy! LOL Toto is so mad can't believe he threw that headset!! CAN'T WAIT FOR DTS NEXT SEASON!" drivel. It's just a trend that I'd rather not see continue, especially considering it's apparent effect on this year's championship. There's so much more to enjoy from the sport than weekly bumper cars and angry press conferences. It doesn't need Netflix's help.
  20. You must be new to the sport. Go back and watch Lewis in 2011 to see what an un-hinged, overly aggressive Lewis in a slower car looks like.
  21. I don't think Merc pits him under either situation. You can argue to pit under VSC but in the end Lewis is still on worn tires where Max gets to pit under SC for fresher softs. Max is fast enough to capitalize on that 9/10 times. Under no circumstances, given the regulations, can Merc give up track position to pit Lewis under SC. They made that decision based on the rules of the sport. Those rules weren't followed by the director. It wasn't a case of "Ooops I made a mistake!". I obviously don't think that was done deliberately to favor RB but Masi artificially manipulated the finish in an illegal way to produce a dramatic "racing" finish.
  22. The Timo symmetry would have been amazing had Max won under normal circumstances
  23. Posted it a bit earlier, it's absolutely not a grey area in the regulations.
