That positive number we need to grow is decreased by the people who oppose Trump but don't support Biden enough to get out and vote, they need a reason to do vote for him and Trump Bad isn't enough of a reason otherwise they wouldn't be in that group.
So Biden better start providing those reasons, so we can get that number up. That's all I care about.
He’s old as fuck and that worries me. <— a legitimate concern
He hasn’t done anything to win my vote. <— a cry for attention from a lazy person- 4

There are a number of students speaking out on campus polling locations last week in support of either Jill Stein or Congressman Dean and to vote for them over Biden. Doesn’t make a difference in the primary but if they’re this passionate now, I imagine in November they’ll break against Biden at campuses all over this country. Not quite as stupid going for Trump to end Gaza hostilities but pretty fucking close.
The thing about these people is that 95% of them will never vote for the Democratic Party, but need to come up with a new reason every 4 years. 2016 was Bernie, 2020 was Tara Reade, 2024 is Gaza. These aren't lost votes, they’re just people that know who to bitch to in order to get attention. They get way too much attention for a group that is inconsequential.

Wild story, but the main takeaway is that the same guys behind Kanye's stupid campaign are working with Dean Phillips. Explains a lot.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/biden-robocall-new-hampshire-strategist-rcna139760
QuoteNEW ORLEANS — A Democratic consultant who worked for a rival presidential campaign paid a New Orleans magician to use artificial intelligence to impersonate President Joe Biden for a robocall that is now at the center of a multistate law enforcement investigation, according to text messages, call logs and Venmo transactions the creator shared with NBC News.
Paul Carpenter says he was hired in January by Steve Kramer — who has worked on ballot access for Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips — to use AI software to make the imitation of Biden’s voice urging New Hampshire Democrats not to vote in the state’s presidential primary.

I understand we all have our own thoughts on the direction of this country. I don’t think there’s much I can say to make you see my side of things. But the polls do suggest that I’m not alone in how I feel. That’s all I’m trying to say. I spent the majority of my young adulthood in the military, so I tend to look at things from that perspective. I think our country is less safe and less secure than it has been in a long time.
Real question, no snark: Anything to back this up or just vibes?

To be clear, Trump didn’t reveal any VP shortlist. Laura Ingraham listed like ten names and then asked if they were all on Trump’s potential list, and he replied “they are.”
That Malaysian doofus Ian Cheong shockingly wrote a misleading tweet.- 3

No I get it. I just disagree that it's an unacceptable joke to make. Especially if you consider that Jon Stewart absolutely knows what a piece of shit Trump is and isn't advocating for a replacement for Biden, and no part of that show is going to sway anyone away from voting Biden. It's just a ridiculous thing to get mad about.
I think the issue is that he didn't stick the landing. Framing the discussion as merely "two 900 year old dinosaurs running for office" is a fine and valid observation as long as there is some sort of acknowledgement of the unique and unprecedented danger that Trump presents. Without that second part, it's just the same both-sides bullshit that has normalized Trump to the masses.

It is still insane to me that there is infinitely more discourse around the need for Democrats to soul search and replace a sitting fucking President on the ticket than Republicans with Trump.
"Democrats are the only ones we expect to take this shit seriously" should be the subtitle to the book that could be written about the current state of our country.

I'm going to push back on "the obvious choice" being to promote a black, female, progressive candidate from California to run this year, even if she had proved herself as super capable (whatever that actually means in terms of being a VP). That's one hell of a gamble with today's electorate.
Additionally, I remain convinced that the first woman president will have to be a Republican. The right-wing media megaphone is a well-oiled machine at tearing down women.

Chris Gilbert back, as Assistant GM
QuoteChris Gilbert's resume in football carries a bit of everything.
Now, it's set to add a significant new line: assistant general manager, University of Texas Longhorns football.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Texas and Gilbert are finalizing a deal, barring any unexpected snags, to bring Gilbert back to Austin, Texas.
He left the UT program in December 2022 in order to become an on-field assistant at North Texas, where he was the assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the Mean Green.
Previously at Texas, Gilbert had been the very popular director of high school relations for the Longhorns -- and he understandably had flourished in that spot.
After all, Gilbert won more than 120 games as a prep coach in the Dallas Metroplex.
Gilbert served a decade atop the Lancaster program, where he took the team to record heights and exited as the school's all-time winningest coach.
On the heels of its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance and transitioning into its membership in the Southeastern Conference, Texas just announced it is finalizing a lucrative new long-term extension for Sarkisian after a 12-win 2023 campaign that included a tone-setting early-season win at Alabama and the Big 12 championship in the program's final appearance in the title game.
Texas is set to open its 2024 season Aug. 31 at home against Colorado State before traveling to defending College Football Playoff champion Michigan in a massive intersectional showdown.

I can at least understand an anti-abortion argument. It falls apart with one simple question that that camp never even attempts to answer: since we'll never be able to stop people from having sex for fun, how is continuing to force people to carry unwanted pregnancies sustainable? But I at least understand the "morality" that they trick themselves into thinking their position has.
But, for the life of me, I will never be able to understand the sick, twisted fucks who are against abortion AND birth control.
"You will have as many babies as my God wants you to have." The viewpoint is as simple as that.

texags before 2023 season: sip roster overrated, teams will be frothing at the mouth to beat tu on the way out, at least 5 or 6 possible losses on the schedule
texags after 2023 season: sips obviously had the best roster in conference, they had a joke of a schedule, anything less than undefeated is a sign that their coach sucked

I know Allred is the hot name, but I really like Gutierrez. I'm still undecided for the primary.
Allred has a resume of someone you could see winning state office, but he hasn't done a thing since declaring to raise his profile enough to make this a race worth paying attention to. There's still time, I guess, but I'm unimpressed with his campaign to date.

+ Biggs, Pfluger, Hageman. Might hate-watch if it ever made the floor.
Putting the spotlight on two of your craziest members is an insane choice in the months leading up to an election. I initially wanted Schumer to give them the finger but now I hope the Senate milks this for all it’s worth.- 3

There are 200k Muslims in Muslim. There are 100k Jews.
I understand the importance of Michigan, but no President will reshape their entire policy over a gain of AT MOST 100k votes. And the inconvenient truth is that short of Biden personally assassinating Bibi, there likely isn't a realistic action that he can take that will satisfy most of them. The quote from the person who has lost 30 family members shows that they are not thinking rationally about this, nor should they be tbh.
