  1. People I know in college athletics say that we are about to see the NCAA go away (for D1).  And D1 is going to be split into two leagues.  To be in the Tier One league, 50% of all athletes at each University must receive an NIL deal of $30K, and each sport will be fully funded scholarship wise.  Tier Two will use minimums with NIL and have a cap, scholarships per team will have a minimum like now, but allow for fully funded sports.

Also, Tier One will be its own league, and Tier Two will go back to regionalized conferences.

There are some other specifics, but the gist of it is who want to play the NIL game and who doesn’t.

  2. Grant McCasland.  And before you dismiss the thought, go read his bio.

Defense was the calling card for UNT in 2021-22 as they owned the nation's No. 1 scoring defense.

Lots of overlap with Beard.  McCasland turned down 3mil+ from SMU this past offseason to stay at UNT, waiting for the right job.

Welp. At least OU's victory keeps Texas in the Big 12 Championship race for now.

Pardon my ignorance, who is the other team that has to lose?  Is it K-State?

  4. Sark - are you stubborn or stupid?  It’s pretty damn clear that Worth is NOT a deep threat.  His inability to adjust to the ball in the air and his unwillingness to make an extra effort to catch the ball, makes it a no-go.  Plus Quinn throwing it ain’t much better.  Just stop now please.

Big ticket fuckup. Have season tickets and downloaded the tickets to my apple wallet this morning. When I get to the stadium (1.5 hours early), they weren’t in the wallet. The season ticket site was down, so I couldn’t download them again. Went to ticket resolution window, waited in line for over an hour and finally got printed tickets. About 300 people in line behind us. Some very pissed off people.
We got in just in time to see our FG.
Still not sure how my tickets disappeared from my apple wallet, but I know now to screen shot them.

Site went down nationwide...lots of schools having issues with digital tickets today.

  6. I know a handful of people who are "in the know" at OU, and this is what they've been afraid of for about 3 years now.  The money problems at OU are real.  Apparently Boren destroyed the school financially over the course of his tenure, and they are reeling from it now.  The "we don't have the buyout money" line is true.  And I'll add, Lincoln's biggest issue with the SEC move was that it was done because of money, not because it was in the schools best interest.  He was pissed because it was a desperation move, not a calculated one.  Further, he did ask for more resources, but was told those only came with SEC money, that the school was tapped out in it's current state.

OU's Rivals guys said one of the reasons Riley left was because he hated how strict OU's compliance department is. They said reporters for other teams can't believe all the compliance stuff OU teams are subject to. Supposedly OU has compliance people at every practice making sure the team is off the field at the exact moment mandated by the NCAA. They won't even allow the practice to go two minutes over time to allow the team finish on a good rep. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what OU's Rivals guys reported in their emergency podcast on Sunday. If you enjoy hearing upset OU reporters/fans roast on the program, you'd enjoy the episode.

That's certainly not to say there aren't boosters or coaches who find a way around the compliance department though. A strict compliance department and cheating are not mutually exclusive.

Typically if a compliance person is at practice, it's because rules have been broken in the past and the NCAA has mandated more oversight.
