Yes, she is pretty amazing because as a public servant, she is solid. The rep from California that died, Leo Ryan, traveled to Jonestown to check on his constituents. Try and picture Devin Nunes doing that.
Here ya go.

You argue that 44% of Americans pay no income tax, which is a problem, but it's not a problem that FedEx pays no income tax because they pay fuel taxes?
You cannot have it both ways.

This topic always makes me nervous as we travel up there to ski once a year. I've got five kids in the car and want to be safe but never need 4wd down here ever. I bought new michelin ltx m/s (which aren't technically snow tires but get good reviews in snow). I haven't had any issues yet as the weather has been fine anytime we've gone. I did buy some z-coils to put on the tires if needed. What should is Texans do for the one trip a year? Dedicated snow tires? 4Wd? Chains?
New Colorado law requires chains or "alternative traction device" when driving on I-70 in extreme winter conditions.

The contractor vs. employer regulations in wage and hour and tax are pretty robust. You can't just call someone a contractor and boom they are a contractor. If they are treated like an employee, then they are an employee, and Dept. of Labor or IRS will relatively easily establish that a contractor is really an employee and at that point you get slammed for back taxes and benefits.
The reason this doesn't happen more often is that many "independent contractors" like being contractors and don't complain.
I should go to law school and become a labor law attorney. I'd be a billionaire within a week if companies were to attempt this.

It's pretty disconcerting when Ann Coulter is the voice of reason for the GOP.

Agreed. Without the AR-15 and just a regular ol' liddle' firearm, the intruder would have prevailed!

Would that be the same West Virginia that has voted for the republican candidate for the last 5 elections?

The point is they ended up thwarting federal encroachments and were well armed and fought for what they believed to be constitutionally protected rights.
Here's a definition. I can concede that perhaps the Bundy Ranchers were not technically a militia. Do we really need to argue wheter or not the Bundy Standoff was between the Feds and a group of armed civilians that were, in their minds, fighting against federal tyranny?
And here's a thought for consideration: if the Federal government is to have such morally bankrupt military personnel that are willing to drone bomb ("Follow orders") armed law-abiding citizens(as Hawndoh mentioned) for standing up for the Constitution , then why does it seem like many are so willing to let them grow in size, scope and power and regulate our right to defend ourselves? The irony in this is that the folks "following orders" swear an oath to the Constitution and yet, they incrementally encroach upon it year after year.
Let's assume that assault rifles are banned and it is determined that the new law is constitutional. What happens if those that own such weapons refuse to give them up? Are they still armed law-abiding citizens?

We are a republic, though. Not a democracy. While I probably dislike Trump more than you, I can still see the value in our system of government. Let's say the crisis with the Amazon rainforest prompted the world to form a unified government...do you really think that the area of the world with the highest concentration of folks should determine policy? We would all be dead or living in fallout shelters within a generation. The same is true for our system. The thing is, statistically, clutter happens. Data, almost by definition, almost always falls in a bell curve type distribution. There are always going to be outliers from the norm. Let's just hope that this is one of those.
I know we are not a democracy. Now remind me the form of government in the UK. Is it a democracy? No, so fuck all democratic ideals because something is not a strict democracy.

Well I'm pretty sure Trump wasn't on the ballot across the pond.
Look, most of us here agree that Trump is an idiot of a calibre that would put the Schwerer Gustav to shame. This thread is about the folks who became our friend after we kicked them out with the help of the French, but then went to war with again. For some reason lots of folks still like their monarchy.
My point was if fewer people voted for Trump than voted for his opponent, they should be President, unless you want to go against democracy.
