  1. Went to Singapore for 2 weeks during a disastrous SAP transition about 15 years ago.  Lived at the warehouse from 7am-10pm every day.  For lunch, I ate with the warehouse workers who got a non-descript rice, veggie, chicken/pork/shrimp lunch everyday.  It was glorious.  All of the Americans traveling with me insisted on McDonalds.  Mc-fucking-Donalds.  Had one of the warehouse managers tell me on the first day that they didn't buy enough of the rice lunches for me, so I handed him a S$100 bill and said I would need him to include me in his lunch purchase every day I was there.
That ended up being a fun trip.  The days sucked, but I would leave work and hang out at one of the all-night hawker villages for a couple of hours drinking Tiger beer, eating local food. and people watching.  5-6 hours of sleep every night, followed by a long day at the warehouse, and a few peaceful hours by myself at the hawkers stand with my Tiger, satay, gai lon, and murtabak.  Rinse, wash, repeat.

Good god I hate SAP. I would rather buy everything on my card and expense it than use this shit. The only bigger waste is fucking ISNet.

I’m a process control engineer at a large manufacturing facility. We were doing an upgrade to an evaporator set and I got an email from the project manager. Most of it was schedule related, but towards the end he wanted to know what the increase load on the electric plant was going to be with all the new motors going in. I sarcastically replied 1.21 gigawatts. He responded and asked if that was annually. I told him yes and got a thanks in return. Somewhere in this facility are engineering documents that specify the combined motor loads at 1.21 gigawatts annually for the evaporator set. I will find them before I leave this place.

  4. I got an email from a direct report that was damn near impossible to read and comprehend. I forwarded it to my boss and asked him to “interpolate” it for me. He gets the genius idea to forward the email to the HR rep telling her that this is the type of shit we have to deal with from him. Instead of just forwarding his email, he forwards mine as well. She responds that the appropriate thing to have done would have been to ask him to clarify. She then tells him that he should come by and see her sometime so they could talk about how to appropriately handle these situations in the future.

  5. When Johnny Carino’s was still around, occasionally I would go in there and get the Italian nachos. Chips were fried wonton wrappers and the cheese was Alfredo sauce. Italian sausage, chicken, pepperonchini peppers. Damn they were good.
