All this concrete cancer talk is reaffirming in my mind that fiberglass will be for me, once I build (and if I still want a pool.)
I was already on the fiberglass train, but this just solidifies that choice. I see the differences, main one being completely free-form, but honestly I'm not after anything out of the ordinary. A rectangle with a spa and splash pad on the side are fine for me. May be a bit much, honestly. Add in differences in frequency and cost of resurfacing, and for me it was a no-brainer.
I'm looking to put it in an enclosure off the back of the house, with UV tinted glass, so maybe that would change the lifespan of the surface?
Anyone having these issues thinking about changing it up?
we’re changing the entire layout. we’re lucky in the sense that we get a mulligan on design since we had 4.5 years to figure out what didn’t work for us.
we’re also lucky as fuck to have received some form of payout while most others have been left holding the bag. i’m not thrilled with having to come out of pocket more, but i think i’m more pissed that i’ll have to listen to my crazy ass dog bark non-stop for 5 or 6 months … again.

We are at the tail end of negotiations with insurance companies. We will not be made whole but it should be enough to make rebuild feasible, which is sadly better than a lot of folks.
Gunite is less susceptible as I understand it but it can happen. It all has to do with the mix including size and type of aggregate material etc… our rebuild will be gunite from a company that works with an engineering firm to test their mix design for ASR reactivity. My pool builder setup a call with the company owner so I could ask questions to get comfortable that this would not happen again. It was a really good call.
we are wrapping up our “negotiations” this week. aka we’re taking what we can get and feeling pretty fucking lucky just for that.
we’ll be rebuilding but so far we’ve only had one company actually come out and talk to us. they mentioned that their insurance requires them to test the gunite now. not sure if it’s bs or not. either way i’m not looking forward to reliving the build process.

mentioned upthread, also have concrete cancer. our builder filed claim with his insurance 6/2023 and we just now heard from them in february. they notified us of a 2 yr statute of limitations where if we haven’t filed suit, we lose the option to. they also said they were working to settle the claim and that we could send over estimates for rebuild. we got a few and they came back basically twice as much as when we initially built in nov 2020.
we’re going to continue to hound the insurance for the next few weeks and if there’s no settlement offer, we’re going to have to file just so we don’t lose that option. fml this is the worst.

other players are definitely assholes. i just hang out by myself in a solo lobby most of the time. don’t have to worry about dipshits that way.

Got bored over the holidays and decided to take up rdr2 online. I'm having fun with it but I'm finding out all I really do is switch between Trader manufacturing/selling and moonshine production/sales to try to make money to buy stuff. And I already have a lot of stuff. Anyone play online and do anything interesting?
i recently decided to come back to rdr2 to platinum it, which led me to get back online. it’s better than i remember. i’m currently collecting all the legendary animals garment sets.
also need to level up bounty hunter. i got all the other roles maxed, but for whatever reason i just can’t seem to finish bounty hunter.

any of the surly law conglomerate working on this type of case?
our builder is also trying to be proactive but is not a national brand like cody and i’m sure does not have cody’s resources.

There’s at least one, possibly two, surly posters, dealing with this in the pool thread.

The sun will still be blacked out with cloud cover, people do realize that-no? But the school and traffic logistics shitshow...we're gonna stay back in town. But of course, now Moody Amphitheater is indicating that maybe Vampire Weekend can't go on after all for safety reasons (it's kinda weatherproof, but not really if it rains). Same with Long Center. I dunno. It's gonna be cool either way and no matter what any of choose to do or not do, the Gods are Angry that day my friends. Like an old man trying to send back soup a deli.

So the iPhone issue is due to the new rendering in safari. Apple devs are incompetent I’ve had it happen on a bunch of sites. Especially text heavy ones.
i’m having the same issue with chrome on ios/ipados. actually seems like it’s worse.

ours was completed nov 2020 and started developing cracks around late august 2023. the builder mentioned possibility of asr. his insurance company is involved now but this shit is slow going. really not looking forward to possibility of having this thing ripped out and rebuilt. the first time was shitty enough.

There’s an update I can install tonight to see if that fixes something. I’ll clear out some caches while I’m doing that upgrade as well hopefully that solves the issue.
still no go for me on mobile safari or chrome on both iphone and ipad 🤷🏽♂️

there was rain in the area last night and everything was still dry when i woke up. maybe it was the roof, maybe it was the that force field blocks rain from my house. i don’t think mark controls the force field but he built the roof so 🤷🏽♂️
