  1. never owned a pair boots in my life. after trudging through snow for a week, i’ve realized i need some damn waterproof/resistant work boots.

don’t know shit about boots, so give me all your recommendations...go!

  2. i’ve tried orbi ac, orbi ax, nighthawk, google and google nest with varying success.

orbi ax was the fastest for me, but wasn’t as stable as i needed. if it went offline, i had a hell of a time getting all my iot devices (light switches and shit) back online. sometimes would take days and a couple factory resets to get it all back. after about 6 months of this shit, i finally had enough and returned the orbi ax to costco.

i ended up with a unifi dream machine, poe switch and a wifi 6 long range access point. it’s only been 3 weeks but so far it’s been the fastest and the most stable of everything i’ve tried. i had planned on another access point, but so far, i don’t have the need since everything seems strong to quite strong inside and out. as a bonus, it prompted me to rip out the bullshit “structured wiring box” the builder put in and install a better one. i wired everything up to a keystone panel and made it all look respectable to this novice’s eyes.

the only issue so far is a double nat causing connectivity to the playstation network. instead of trying to fix it, i just dropped a line direct to my stepsons ps4.  problem solved, and gta5 online has been running infinitely better for him.

  3. ended up going with at&t tv with the contract. the 2nd year contract price puts me in line with what we had with uverse tv. when i called to cancel, they asked why so i told them we signed up for at&t tv in my wife’s name. the rep made sure to schedule my cancel date/time to coincide with the new installation of fiber to avoid downtime.  she also gave us $10/mo discount for as long as we keep the acct.

we paid $80/mo for internet under our uverse package, now we’re at $60/mo. they come to install tmrw, so i’m hoping we get set up with their new equipment.

  4. it’s been two months since we filled ours with water. we’re still waiting for some kind of inserts that kick up the pressure in the spa jets. builder says they’ve been on back order with waterway since we started the build. in the meantime, our spa has minimal pressure. the kids don’t care, but it feels like we’re just sitting in a big ass bathtub.

Mine is about 13k gallons, free form. Spa, 8 foot natural stone waterfall along one side, 5.5 foot deep end. A few other bells and whistles. $95k, but that included a small flagstone deck around it which I think was a $6k addition.

    Not saltwater.

we’re in that ballpark as well price wise. 16k gallons rectangle with spa, sheer descents, travertine etc.

Keep patience and the holiday spirit, my friend.   🙂

Would appreciate a brief comparison/opinion of ATTVNow vs Uverse,  cost, content, etc.     Thanks !

our annual uverse promo is up in a few weeks and we’re looking to switch to something else. called today to see if there was any retention type offers if i switched to att tv. here’s what i’ve learned so far

    • once we cancel uverse, we can never get it back
    • their “retention” offer to migrate to att tv costs more than the new customer price by 25%
      • seems that att tv is the contract version of contract free att tv now
      • att tv price increases to att tv now prices in 2nd yr ($80/mo yr 1, $135/mo yr 2)
    • signing up with the wife’s info nets us $400 gc to offset the yr2 price increase

we just finished trials of yttv, att and hulu live. what i’m quickly learning is that all these streaming services are the same, and there’s not really much difference price wise to cable/uverse. i’m leaning toward canceling uverse just so i can get att back out to reinstall the fiber lines with their new equipment. my shit is 7 years old already.

The world needs to be reminded daily that accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt. Every fuckstick who gets pardoned should be referred to as an admitted felon every time they are mentioned anywhere.

Example excerpt from future Biden speech: "My Attorney General will be appointing a special prosecutor to investigate former Sec of State and admitted felon Mike Pompeo...."

Example NYT headline a few months from now: "Admitted Felon Donald Trump Junior ODs on Cocaine and Krocodil Drug Cocktail"

    etc etc

probably been asked and answered already, but ... supposing this dipshit does pardon his dipshit spawn(s?), would that render them ineligible to run for public office?

  8. for those who have a service, what are y’all paying per month?

the company our builder set us up with to open the pool and do the pool school wants to charge $200/mo. that seems high af to me considering i only see this guy out there for maybe 15min at a time. was gonna roll with them for a while until i figured out the chemistry but fuck all that noise time for some on the job training haha.

  9. got a ship notification wednesday for my costco bundle and it still hasn’t been picked up by ups as of today. looks like it’s lost in the black friday abyss since they sent this email out:

    Quote

Please Note: You may receive a ‘ship’ confirmation on your order but not see any movement or initial scan for 2 to 4 days. There’s no need to worry! Your order is secure and will move through the carrier’s network soon.

was hoping to play next week while i’m off, but that’s looking more and more unlikely.

  10. i’ve been hoping for a ship notification from my 11/12 costco ps5 order. yesterday i got an email and thought it was a cancel notification, but they were just letting me know it’s still going to be shipping week of 11/23. the wait continues, but hopefully it doesn’t get lost in the black friday piles of shipments

How long did yalls digs take? On a week and a half here and probably 2/3 dug. Still have the deep end which is about where the jackhammer is resting on the ground.

Pure limestone. Not a shovel full of dirt to be found. At least I know the pool won't go anywhere.

Builder has been communicative and good so far. Fingers crossed.

two days, but there’s no limestone in derkaville.

  12. took 36 hours, but finally got the pool filled with water over the weekend. buuuuut there was a good sized gouge on the spa bench that they needed to fix. apparently you can’t patch pebble bc they came and chipped it all out this morning 🤷🏽‍♂️

they also forgot the spotter tile things. the builder offered to chip out the entire pool and start over but fuck all that noise. i want them to just finish and gtfo. the sod is coming tmrw so the fucking plaster guys better get their shit done early.

keep telling myself it’s almost over but not sure i really believe it.

Finally threatened to sue my pool builder today.  Officially 6 months to the day (May 14) since I signed the contract, finalized plans and put down the deposit.  And they are supposedly decking on Monday.  I've never had to sue anyone in my life, but I will if I have to.

are they just saying it’s lack of labor?

i think bc my guy is a one man show, he only has one set of each subcontractor group to do shit. in retrospect, i wish we’d have just gone with a cody or a&s type builder that probably has access to a larger labor pool. either way, this has been an even bigger pain in the ass than i thought. i will be holding this against my wife for the rest of my life since i never wanted it to begin with.

  14. travertine is almost done. they came up a little short so they had to order more. you can kind of see it to the right of the spa. the plaster got done today, and they come back to acid wash tmrw followed by filling this bitch up with water. we’re still waiting on the gas line and fence repair. irrigation has been repaired and they come back to lay sod down early next week.

the end is finally in fucking sight.

  15. lulz at myself for thinking we’d actually get anything done this past week. i guess they did deliver the equipment on thursday, but it’s just sitting on the travertineless decking. we’re heading in to the 4th month since the dig and i’m over it already and just ready for my yard to be put back together.
