So, yeah, movie theaters go shut down and Weingarten wants to put in another 2-3 boutique stores that turn over every 18-24 months and don't really drive other patrons to the area.   If I was going to ROT, I was probably having dinner and/or drinks at a local restaurant before or after the show.  I don't have any reason to frequent that area now and I freaking work(ed) in the area (AIG).  Not going out of my way to visit Joseph A. Banks or Kroger in River Oaks when I live in Kingwood.  But if the right movie was playing at ROT, I would often drive into town on a Saturday or Sunday for dinner and a movie.   Hell, on more week nights than I can remember I drove home and BACK to ROT for a movie and local dinner.

Agree with all of this. I lived and worked close to the ROT for years, and now live closer your way, but in Atascocita. A ROT night for the wife and I usually included dinner/drinks at Brasserie across the street (or Tony’s place before that) and an after movie coffee/dessert at that French bakery place. The other retail places aren’t special and have never been much of a draw. For whatever reason, music based docs and movies was my draw to ROT. I saw the Pearl Jam PJ20 doc there and the Oasis: Supersonic doc there, as well as Walk The Line, Crazy Heart, and a few other music type movies. Maybe it’s the booze, but it has great ambience for that sort of thing.

except it's not just "one" thing. it's a whole bunch of things, and i'll add that most of those things cannot be bought or compared against on social media.

I was just about to disagree with you about Curly’s advice until this part. Completely agree. It’s great advice, but it’s more than one thing. The average person would miss out on quite a lot with a hyper, singular focus. The general message holds true, though.

  3. The making of The Godfather is a great story and worthy of being a movie itself, but this trailer is a little underwhelming to me. I’ll definitely watch, though.

Coppola was hell bent on making the movie outside of Hollywood with his Northern California production company and the studio honchos were freaked out someone was going to change the framework of the industry. There’s tons of rumors of crew members attempting to sabotage production, including the editor purposely editing scenes terribly so that executives would come in and fire Coppola for poor directing skills, and so on.  Carlo being cast to appease the mob and get their blessings, etc.. it’ll be interesting to see how far they go with details and accuracy.

Cleveland is probably throwing up in their river. Wasn't too long ago they were buying SB tickets and making big bets in Vegas. Now the upstart Bengals down the road, with what looks like a sure-fire super star at qb, are going to the SB.

They also drafted Baker over Josh Allen.

So Tucker Carlson just went after Stern tonight.    Of course, the pussy does it when Stern is off for a few days, but Monday should be interesting.

To be fair, Stern is eternally “off for a few days”.
