Setting people up seems like high school bullshit. The most you should ever do is put two people in the same place at the same time. If something happens it happens, if it doesn’t it doesn’t, but any further interaction from the third-party is just silly and childish.

    Nailed it.

oh Mack Brown fucked off recruiting for sure and was in no way shape or form doing the required work

but the one issue is just because Miles and Saban and Meyer and others come on the scene that does not mean you start fucking over a guy like Mack and start telling him that your lazy and entitled problem children with limited upside are good kids while you develop a new relationship with the new shit hot coaches

I suppose there is the argument that "he got them a ride to college", but more likely he got them a limited amount of time on a college campus they did not belong at before they fucked that chance up because Mack was not on top of them or because they thought all they had to do was put on the uniform and fuck off and they were golden.....they could have received a free ride to a place like SHSU or a WAC or MWC school and perhaps had a wake up call and ended up with some degree or perhaps even developed their talent instead of falling by the wayside

the other MUCH bigger issue is if Mack or anyone else threatens to start looking out of state then suddenly those same coaches that "care" and are "just trying to get a kid a spot" start black balling those coaches that recruit out of state and of course what happened to the "we are getting kids spots" when you are suddenly getting in the way of Texas coaches recruiting at your high school and even more so when you know that the shit hot coaches like Saban and Miles and Meyer are only going to take the select few Texas players they are really targeting and if you fuck THEM over well they can easily just black ball recruiting YOUR high school......there are several examples of that in Louisiana specifically with Saban and with LSU where a coach tried to step up to the college programs and was slapped down hard.....mainly because Louisiana knows they produce way more talent than they have in state places for

I am not saying feel sorry for Mack by any stretch he fucked things up for himself the best he knew how, but it is a fucked system when some high school coach holds so much sway about the future of players and how he allows recruiting to happen and who he is honest with and who he tries to get in the way of because he is pissed off he cannot off load his problem children on some in state programs with impunity.....all the more so when a lot of those lazy ass coaches are as much or more responsible for the shitty, lazy, poor work habits and entitlement and limited upside of that player as the actual player and his mom are

one can talk about what happened at Baylor, but the truth is those players did not get to Baylor and suddenly become total pieces of shit they were pieces of shit long before they hit the Baylor campus and their HS coaches new that 100% and did not give a shit to tell Baylor and or knew they could send them to Baylor and Baylor might not give a shit either......but as long as "hey signed D1-A P5 letter of intent" it was "job well done" no matter what happened a couple of years down the road

I understand what you're saying, but each of these "paragraphs" was a single sentence.

  3. I hate to get into the middle of this argument, but even though Soto has a Cedar Park postal address, it is actually still inside the Austin City limits.

The city name in the postal address only denotes which post office delivers the mail and does not mean it is in that incorporated area.

    Carry on.

Robinson Ranch, same as above - construction/zoning timeline push this out.

Robinson Ranch is already zoned (PUD) for this and has been for years. It also has existing arterial and collector level stubs on all sides of the property (Howard Ln, 620, SH45, MOPAC Toll)and utility on some sides and close on the other.

It is the most ready piece of property being considered, I'd guess.

The 3M site is terrible for them because the road network to get to it already needs billions of dollars of improvements just to make them passable.

They feel like UT did not develop Garrett Gilbert the way they should have and then left Gilbert hanging out to dry. They also don't believe the previous Texas coaches paid enough respect to the LT players, namely QB. If Texas had simply taken the LT QB from Gilbert forward, Texas would have had: GIlbert, Brewer, Mayfield, DeLira, Brewer, Baldwin, and now Card. The only one that wasnt an upgrade to who Texas took is DeLira.  The current Texas staff is changing that and are building a strong relationship with LT.

Are high school football coaches the most butthurt group of people on the fucking planet? Especially holding a grudge against an entire program rather than the individual coaches that made the decisions that they don't agree with and hurting the current coach that had nothing to do with it?

Jesus fucksticks, high school coaches seem like bigger bitches than most women.

Fits their narrative this cycle that Jimbo will get whomever he pleases, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Any perceived head-to-head for us is because Jimbo didn't really want that player.

    So RC Jimbo didn't offer?

  7. I checked out this place a few weeks ago.

    https://www.google.com/maps/@30.3891174,-97.7377739,123m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Nice place, good reviews, competitive pricing (I think it was $900/month of 1 br and $1100 for 2BR), everyone in the community seemed to be happy to see the lady showing me around, convenient to MOPAC and 183.

There is a nicer place on 360 by Bull Creek that has private, attached garages, nice complex and greenbelt access, but it's about 20% higher.

I probably would have gone with the first place I mentioned if my complex didn't drop my rent to keep me from moving, but I am a bad case study because I basically live at my GF's place and just keep my apartment as some sort of security blanket.

I remember eating at the Bon Ton in LaGrange in the 80's. The early beginnings of Weikel's.

I remembered I had a half can of chili in the fridge.

How does one end up with half a can of chili? That seems like ending up with half of a bud light.

people are not going to ride their bikes to work here in austin fucking texas. my favorite bit the city did was going to amsterdam to study their bike culture. the average high in amsterdam in august is 71 fucking degrees. ours is 96.

we did have one dude in the office who would ride his bike. he fucking stank.

bike lanes are fine, and i'm actually for them on many roads where they can fit. but it's for the hobbyists, not the rank and file. bike lanes make biking safer, which is a good thing, but they sure as hell are not getting cars off the road here in texas.

    Preach!!

It amazes me that there is still people that believe that bikes are going to solve a fucking thing here.

Nau's drug is kind of a cool experience for a burger.

Sure, if you have an hour or two to wait for a burger.

The last two times I've been, I've watched the girl make one ticket at a time. She won't start a single item from the next order until the entire first order is complete. I waited an hour the last time and there were only 3 other tables there ( 2 top, 2 top, 3 top) and there were only 2 of us.

Back when Rudder was forcing racial and gender integration upon the rednecks (and by doing so, saving the school from ruin), the editor of the school paper wrote an editorial in favor of the plan. He had bricks and balloons filled with ammonia thrown through his dorm window. When Leland McElroy was to be the first non-white football player to start a game (back in 1970) the night before the game, they burned a cross in front of the entrance to his dorm.

You may think you know the level of hatred for women and blacks on the aggy campus in the 1960s, but it was far worse than you can imagine.

And then there was this anecdote from the Texas Monthly bonfire collapse story from not too long ago (the money quote is at the end). The ags are largely a hate-filled bunch of small-minded, ignorant rednecks.  Always have been, always will be.
