Somehow I missed this response earlier this morning. I'm just one of those guys who likes to hear some extra story most of the time. But just the songs are good, too. Was listening to Hornet's Nest again while reading about Riley Gale on Wikipedia and my wife came in and said, "Why is that so loud?"

    Good man.

  2. Hayduke, great thread and I will say a little about the songs I chose because you so foolishly asked.

Shut Em Down is pretty easy, as would have been Fight the Power, Party for your Right to Fight, Can’t Truss It, or so many PE songs. Easy to understand why they were adamant about staying strong in the face of everything facing Black people in this country.

    Hatebreed is easy, no comment.

Hornet’s Nest is more political and all about being resolute while everything else around you is crumbling. RIP Riley Gale; dude was very forward thinking in his lyrics.

God was written after the Beatles broke up. He was totally scared and insecure about what would happen next. He was an insecure guy through and through. But that song is strong as hell - proclaiming that he will no longer be tied to anyone’s ideas of who he should be (a rockstar, a poet, an icon, whatever). Just him stripping off every role that could be tagged to him, and telling everyone “I’m just a guy, I’m scared, and that’s it.” Rebellious in a most unusual way.

They apparently have a different definition of "without major brain damage" than I do*

    * There's no fucking way he doesn't have major brain damage, if this is indeed real (which I doubt). His frontal lobe is gone, which operates all of our executive functioning and basically makes us human. Not to mention the loss of most of his cerebral cortex and limbic system, which control coordination, movement, emotion, speech, and other trifling matters.

One of our good friends lives on one of the top floors down town and you can see others across the street they can see you etc. first the penthouse is ridiculous but sex in front of one of those windows uh, yeah!

Having sex with a few different people (yeah, all at the same time) in front of a downtown full length high rise window is pretty fantastic, sounds like Troph knows what's up too
