  1. You're suprised that people are still talking about one of the 3 highest rated QBs ever to come to Texas and who also took us to 2 CFPs. Breaking news, we still talk about VY.
  2. Given the health issues in the Miami QB room, I think Quinn was a reasonable late round draft gamble for them. To use a poker analogy, holding 7s and 8s pre-flop and calling a pot odds bet is a solid poker. It has a lot of ways to lose but it's a gamble worth taking particularly if you are already short stacked in a tournament game.
  3. And am I the only one who recalls the substantial drop in quality of life in the last year of college vs first year of professional life.
  4. Fair point. However, he also opted to move from Miami to Norman so both this "logic" and gambling habits can easily be called into question.
  5. ...and did so with one of the best defenses we've ever had at Texas.
  6. I am shocked!!! This is shocking news. If you told me I was gonna be making a boat load of money to stay another year at UT and a huge job would wait while I had my pick of 11s at Texas.... well, guess what my choice would be.
  7. It's not news to anyone that I lost faith in Quinn after the Washington game. I got on the anti-Quinn train during OU in 2024. I started questioning Sark for his decision a lot after Georgia 1 which was when I strongly believe the switch should have and could have been made. It would have bettered the future of Texas football and I wrote that here at the time. I wasn't alone but there was absolutely a mob mentality here against anyone questioning Quinn. Derka took a lot of shit as he arrived there early. Now that he's shown his receipts and expressed his frustrations I really hope he will move on. I don't expect Quinn to be successful in the NFL but I'm absolutely HOPING he is, even if it gives ammunition to the Quinn lovers. Hell, I hoped they were right when he was here, and I too can pull receipts. Mostly, I hope(d) for both despite my skeptical views on Quinn because ultimately both were good for the University of Texas football program. At the end of the day, that's way more important to me than being correct about my assessment of an individual player. Also, Quinn can't start nor play for Texas anymore.
  8. Yeah, either he's fucked for gambling and was stupid about or far more likely wrote something stupid to friends in a venmo payment. There is a common denominator in that sentence and either way it is causing friction on the Sooner roster. I support it! As for Arch, yeah, a individual millionaire from a rich family who is the most talked about player in college football and probably has a lucrative NFL career on his horizon isn't thirsty and struggling to find a hook up with 11s.
  9. I absolutely agree but the bigger point is really any tie in from the $140m decrease in operating budget of $9.7m basically tieing it to the loss of 30 people in their athletics department (in addition to 330 others). Stanford fields 36 teams 20 in women's sport and 16 in men's. They just hired in AD that was making $60m at his last job, and Shaw was making about $6M per year so a safe guess is Troy $2-4m range. So lets do a comparison to Vanderbilt as they are on a similar plane on academics, atheletics success (Baseball good, football meh) budget and student enrollment. Stanford enrollment: Est 17,000 Vandy Enrollement: 13575 Stanford + Stanford Health Operating Budget: $10.4 billion Vandy + VUMC Operating Budget: $8.9 billion Stanford Avergage Attendance Per Game 2024 26,035 Vandy Average Attendance Per Game 2024 28,091 Stanford Athletic teams: 36 Total 20 women, 16 mens Vandy Athletics teams: 17 total 11 womens, 6 mens For the record, VUMC is cutting $300m budget cut and laying of 650 which I personally actually find extremely concerning. Main point is Stanford isn't the only ones seeing big budget cuts. TLDR: Politics isn't the main reason 30 athletic jobs were cut at Stanford.
  10. Nah, you can have either. I'll stick with 1994 or 1999. Lots more I enjoy re-watching. And Blade Runner is better than either anyway. That's the fact, Jack!
  11. Hmmm well, if you have to stick in the line of logic I'd argue Empire Strikes Back was a better film and in 1980 you also get: The Shining Airplane Raging Bull The Blues Brothers Fame Ordinary People Brubaker The Dogs of War American Gigalo Altered States Stir Crazy Where the Buffalo Roam 9 to 5 The God's Must be Crazy Friday the 13th The Elephant Man (David Lynch directing Anthony Hopkins, John Hurt and Anne Bankcroft) There is also the Blue Lagoon which I never saw and honestly just looking at the quick plot summary... I never knew they were cousins. I knew they were both teens.. that um... yeah that plot aged very, very poorly.
  12. Oh my amigo Graham. You went and did it after all the glory and fun you've provided, you officially outted yourself as a Longhorn. Shame, was fun while it lasted.
  13. Were we talking about any other athletic department my skeptical alarm would be screaming. I'd go down the research to call folks out on this unbelievable "bullshit". But... it's aggie. I'm confident trying to debunk it is a waste of my time.
  14. Some people just have to have a reason to complain and they're willing to pull one out of thin air if none exist. It's a beating.
  15. This is what I think happens as well, but first likely using it as leverage. That's the bully play, extortion then bus those who don't "play ball". I don't think it will be limited to one side of the aisle. We just likely won't know about any Rs who capitulate.
  16. He should know by now that every word about training camp is scrutinized like government announcements by conspiracy theorists. See there, Coach XYZ said there is "marked improvement by the OL". Marked, as in marked for death. He's telling us the OL is terrible and we are doomed!!!
  17. First glance, mostly a repeat of my thoughts on coaches poll. Way too high: LSU Miami Too high: Aggie OU Oregon Tennessee probably Liberty (gtfo) FSU Way too low: Indiana Washington Georgia Tech Too low: Arizona State I don't get PSU...
  18. It's to help OSU look better later in the season after they beat PSU just in case Texas beats OSU. - some aggie probably
  19. Well, looking at just the data from the link I posted above, there is strong merit to suggesting the AP does not like putting Texas at 1. I'm guessing AP puts Texas at 2 or 3 behind OSU and PSU. They LOVE OSU. I honestly wouldn't be completely shocked if a goodly amount put ND in 3rd with Texas 4th. Ohio State is no stranger to the top spot. Alabama is the all-time leader with 129 appearances at No. 1 in the AP poll, followed by Ohio State at No. 2 with 105 appearances. Oklahoma is next at 101, followed by Notre Dame at 98 and USC at 91.
  20. So we are worried about interpretations of Bobby's words on whether or not Sark was running vanilla the first week of practice on purpose. We are not worried about getting in the RZ and scoring zero points. This fucking place.
  21. Right! And you damn well best not miss!!!! Happy to help!
  22. Is Sark playing vanilla on purpose in the first week of summer practice with a QB that has 2 starts, a younger OL, some new WRs, and TEs. Yes, yes he is doing exactly that on purpose. Call me BurntBobby.
  23. Fair, but doesn't change my reaction to getting in the RZ then missing a 10 year field goal attempt.
