  1. Great burger at Fairway Grill.  Chubby's was better there too.  The new location is/was always dark, cold, and for some reason the walls and floors were always wet.  The cigarette smoke mentioned in the article didn't help either.

Heim on White Settlement is supposedly just a catering location.  That's according to the owner, Travis. He mentioned it to us one day when we were at the Magnolia location.  They've been selling sandwiches out of their catering truck at that Soda Springs joint one day a week, from time to time.  Maybe they've changed their mind.  They could do well with the Lockheed lunch crowd.

Parton's Pizza on Cherry is close to opening their remodeled area.  The Asian massage parlor next door is being cleaned up and when I went in there Sunday, the staff said they were close.  Just need to knock down the wall, which they've stripped down to just the insulation. That will be a welcome expansion.  That place is always crowded.
This is confusing because both the new locations are around White Settlement. According to below the one on White Settlement road is a fully new location and the one in White Settlement, an old bbq joint, is for catering only.

And Fear gets another west side burger joint back. Good ol' Shuckers next door, that bar is not fun.

HA! We go to Shucker's sometimes after work.  I asked the older bartender woman (you would know the one I'm talking about if you have ever been in there) a few months ago when Chubby's was going to be back open and she told me probably never, because all the guys working on the place do is drink beer all day.

  3. Does anyone know what the 2nd playoff tiebreaker would be in a yahoo league when it is set to "Best regular season record vs opponent wins", got a scenario where I am tied for the final spot next week going 1-1 with the other team? Would it be the total points over the two games or points scored on the season? Or something else?

Pulled out some strips for dinner.  The cast iron grill pan saw its first action.  Poured a Blantons to keep me company at the grill station in homage to our friend @brown water. There is definitely something to keeping the meat a bit elevated over the oil.  There is a fry effect if you have the temp right. The first one I probably didn't let the avocado oil get hot enough before jumping in. My only complaint is that the grill pan is not really big enough to do two steaks at once. Usually I break out my 27" and can knock two out at the same time. I don't feel that the crust result surpassed my standard method with the flat bottom pan. But there is something here, I am going to have to spend more time honing the jedi skills with this grill pan. Served with grilled cabbage and cauli mash.

ETA: Forgot to add. Sous vide @ 125 prior to searing, which I believe is another deviation from bw's method.

Lodge makes a 12 inch (yours looks like the 10.5), but it appears to be thinner than the 10.5?  What is the solution, two 10.5s?

  5. Fox has been pimping this show on their NFL broadcasts, it is clear they put a lot of resources into this.

After reading the first book their was talk of a movie series, glad they did it ass a tv series although I wish it was on Netflix, HBO, etc. and not network tv, but...

    Spoiler

I am very curious how they handle the two timelines of the first book.  The easiest thing to do would be to play the modern day timeline straight up in season one with the end of the last episode being 93 years later.  Flash forwards would be much more interesting.  The IMDB page lists actors/actresses for the 93 years later role of Sarah, Peter and Alicia with a one episode credit. There is also a stunt double credit for Lacey. Usually the list is incomplete before a series comes out, so it is really not indicative of whether they are in one ep or nine, just that they are in the season.  Fox has only shown present day footage in the trailers from what I have seen.

  6. A couple things after playing about 15 hours:

-Cook any meat you get and eat it first.  It has a condition that deteriorates over time, save the processed stuff for when you really need it.

-If you put junk into your stash it will not get broken down by the scrap all junk.  You need to put it back on your person, scrap it and then put it back in the stash.  Stuff like wood, steel, glass is very common and you should bulk the extra and sell it to a robot vendor.  The first one you come across is in the church in Flatwoods.  This is the best way to get caps early and you won't feel wastefull paying to fast travel or move your camp.

-On storage, scrap just about all the weapons or armor you find and are not using unless it is unique. By scrapping you learn all the mods.

-Water is a huge pain, but there is an early solution (very mild spoiler):

    Spoiler

I did this at level 10.  Head up to the NW part of the map and find the workshop at the Tyler County Dirt Track just west of the big ferris wheel on the map. Claim the workshop of 25 caps and you will be given the plans for the small water purifier (even though it doesn't tell you this) that can be placed in dirt.  Give it 8 power at you camp and it will produce 12 purified water per hour played. You can build a personal stash box at the workshop, so just set up some defenses, collect the aluminum scrap until someone takes the workshop from you.

If you are cooking over direct heat, I would split the bird completely in half.  It makes moving it around so much easier and speeds up the process even more.  A meat saw makes it very easy if you have access to one.
