  1. Looks like Ford Fry's duo of Tex-Mex & Gulf Coast restaurants in the Heights are getting close to opening.

Drove by today and the signs for "Superica" and "La Lucha" have gone up on the corner of 18th and Shepherd. Would imagine they should be open to public by end of summer.

Throw in all the stuff going in at Heights Waterworks and there's going to be a lot more dining options in the Heights/Shady Acres in the near future. Pile the HEB at 23rd opening next spring on top of that and that whole area should be a real peach to drive around/park next year.

  2. Christ almighty this fucking guy:

On Friday, President Donald Trump, who answered no questions from the press at an earlier speech on the economy at the White House, made a surprise appearance on Sean Hannity‘s radio show to tout the economy and declare that with the help of trade deficit cuts, the GDP may soon see 8 or 9 percent growth.

Trump started out by saying that the economy was “far ahead of what anybody thought” except of course himself, who has known all along.

Then, he said this about how much greater the American economy was bound to get as long as trade deficits are cut in half:

“We’re doing great.  We could do a lot better,  the fact is that if I can cut the trade deficit from $817 billion, think of that, we have a trade deficit with other countries — that’s trading with other countries, 817 billion —  if I cut it in half, right there, we’ll pick up 3 to 4 points, so you could add that to the 4 of 5 and so we’d be at 8 or 9. Now, I don’t want to say that too much and I didn’t want to say too much during the campaign because I would have been criticized,  people wouldn’t have believed it… But now they’re starting to believe.”

I may just be an unfrozen cave man lawyer, but the agreement to negotiate sure does look like the terms we were discussing with the Europeans under Hussein.

President Macho Genius just threw his weight around and....got the EU to re-engage on a less comprehensive version of TTIP than he had previously scuttled.

I can't imagine the circumstances in which I would record a conversation with a client.  That right there is a tip-off that things aren't really on the up-and-up.

Can you imagine the circumstance where you're the lawyer for a pathologically-untruthful person who aims to screw over every person that crosses their path? A person with a well-documented history of claiming conversations which happened never occurred, and vice versa?

  5. WH Budget Office just quietly revised their pie-in-the-sky estimates from earlier this year. Now predicting that Trillion dollar deficits return next year and last through 2021:

Surely the old Tea Party guys will dust off their Founding Father costumes and be out in the streets by the thousands demanding Trump's head this fall!

Did Emory make it over to the new board? Surely he's outraged about this generational theft!!!!!!!

Revenues are up, spending is up more.

Since we're talking about FY 2018, we're talking about the period from 10/17-9/18:

Monthly revenues were up (compared to FY 2017) for October-January, prior to tax cuts kicking in. Since then, April has been only month with higher receipts than FY 2017.

Revenues are way down the past 2 months. At this rate, by the time July numbers roll in, 2017 receipts will likely outpace 2018.

    May 2017: $240B
    May 2018: $217B

    June 2017: $338.6B
    June 2018: $314B

  7. Putin threw out a trolling, sarcastic proposal that Russia would cooperate with the investigation of the 12 indicted GRU agents if the United States allowed their own intelligence people to be interrogated by Russians.

Trump called this "an incredible offer."

I dont know what he did because I didn't see it but I've seen this same uproar before.  Being polite or complimentary in a press conference isnt being a traitor.

Since you refuse to watch the press conference you're opining on, maybe take a few minutes to read this.

Overreaction to Trump just being polite?

  9. WTI dropping 3% to open the day on speculation that Trump and Putin will reach an agreement for Russia to produce more oil.

Additionally, there was a story out Friday that the US is planning to tap the SPR. Maddeningly stupid political hackery.

  10. There was a targeted attack that occured that exact same night according to the indictment. Are you obfuscating on purpose?

It literally says that certain accounts were targeted for the first time on 7/27/16.

Yeah, that's pretty apparent.  He sees no value in existing alliances.  For some reason, he sees value in alliances with what amount to our enemies.  We can imagine why, but that answer could honestly range from collusion to admiration of their authoritarian rule to . . . ???

There was an article a few weeks back where a reporter asked White House insiders to summarize the Trump administration's view on foreign relations..

There was one that stuck out to me, something along the lines of "No Allies. No Enemies. Only America."

Pardon my old ass lack of knowledge regarding servers 'n shit -- WTF is "spearphishing"?  Is it just fishing a specific target?

    Yep.

Phishing is sending out emails en masse that are disguised to look like they come from a trusted source.

Spear Phishing is the same but tailored to and targeted at specific email accounts.

Are you sure the dates are right on this?  Hadn't the server been bleach bit'd well before this?

I think the hacking occurred well before Trump made the flippant remark in the press conference in July of 2016.  Largely because the server was not up and running in July of 2016.  Is that right?

You're conflating several issues. The very same night that Trump said "Russia if you're listening, I hope you're able to find those 30,000 emails," the GRU hackers started spearphishing Clinton campaign email accounts:

this...as well as warning for Trump to not trust Putin in the upcoming meeting.

Definitely something Trump will take to heart. He loves people suggesting how he should behave.

If anything, this will just reflexively push Trump even further in Putin's corner. As a malignant narcissist, he views any suggestion that anybody else helped him win the election as a personal attack which must be aggressively counter-attacked.
