  1. Brought all of my wife's family Saturday before an Astros game. Afterwards, they were raving about it being the best BBQ they'd ever eaten.

Champ served me possibly the biggest beef rib either of us had ever laid eyes on. The bone that came out of it was roughly the size of an axe handle.

    10/10 trip.

i like how they made a point, as if it was some kind of special emphasis, that the memo that went missing was marked urgent.

I think you misread that. The "urgent" memo from the Sergeant-at-Arms said that the House Democratic Caucus' server went missing shortly after the investigation began.

Turns out the prosecutors had taken it into their custody.

A secret memo marked “URGENT” detailed how the House Democratic Caucus’s server went “missing” soon after it became evidence in a cybersecurity probe.

More specifically, the Govrnment agrees that the public allegations that your client stole U.S. House of Representatives ("House") equipment and engaged in unauthorized or illegal conduct involving House computer systems do not form the basis of any conduct relevant to the determination of the sentence in this case. The Government conducted a thorough investigation of those allegations, including interviewing approximately 40 witnesses; taking custody of the House Democratic Caucus server, along with other computers, hard drives, and electronic devices; examining those devices, including inspecting their physical condition and analyzing log-in and usage data; reviewing electronic communications between pertinent House employees; consulting with the House Office of General Counsel and House information technology personnel to access and/or collect evidence; and questioning your client during numerous voluntary interviews. The Government has uncovered no evidence that your client violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems. Particularly, the Government has found no evidence that your client illegally removed House data from the House network or from House Members' offices, stole the House Democratic Caucus Server, stole or destroyed House information technology equipment, or improperly accessed or transferred govrnment information, including clas sif,red or sensitive information.

    LOOOOOOOOOOL.

  4. I wonder if there was any other news about this topic that came out in the last hour or so......

Federal prosecutors concluded an 18-month investigation into a former congressional technology staffer on Tuesday by publicly debunking allegations — promoted by conservative media and President Trump — suggesting he was a Pakistani operative who stole government secrets with cover from House Democrats.

As part of an agreement with prosecutors, Imran Awan pleaded guilty to a relatively minor offense unrelated to his work on Capitol Hill: making a false statement on a bank loan application. U.S. prosecutors said they would not recommend jail time.

But the agreement included an unusual passage that described the scope of the investigation and cleared Awan of a litany of conspiracy theories promulgated on Internet blogs, picked up by right-leaning news sites, and fanned by President Trump on Twitter.

"The Government has uncovered no evidence that your client violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems," including stealing equipment or illegally accessing or transferring information, prosecutors wrote in the plea agreement dated and signed Tuesday.

Federal prosecutors described in the agreement a "thorough investigation" that included forensic analysis of computer equipment and other devices, log-on and usage data and interviews with about 40 witnesses.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney's Office of the District of Columbia did not mention Trump or any media publications by name in the agreement.

But the agreement included an exhaustive list of "public allegations" that prosecutors investigated and shot down.

"Particularly, the Government has found no evidence that your client illegally removed House data from the House network or from House Members' offices, stole the House Democratic Caucus Server, stole or destroyed House information technology equipment, or improperly accessed or transferred government information, including classified or sensitive information."

The office that conducted the investigation is led by Trump-nominated U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Liu. Awan was released from electronic monitoring and will be free pending his sentencing Aug. 21 U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan ordered in the Tuesday hearing.

Catching up on the new Khemmis and Zeal and Ardor today as well.

Been listening to the new Khemmis a lot since its release last week. "Maw of Time" and "The Seer" are great tracks. These guys might have supplanted Pallbearer as my favorite doom metal band, though I suppose they're more of a "doomy" traditional metal band than a straight doom band.

  6. Larry Kudlow tells Maria Bartiromo a bald-faced lie about the deficit this morning. Not only does she not challenge him on it, the Fox Business twitter account parrots it verbatim.

Please, someone make an argument that Fox Business is not a propaganda arm of the WH. Anyone?

  7. A number of states have triggers that kick in upon a repeal of Roe, either immediately banning the practice, or codifying its legality under state law.

So, you'd likely end up with a patchwork where its completely banned in certain states, severely restricted in others, and maybe 15 or so where the status quo would remain.

Middle and upper class women would continue to have the means to obtain an abortion, while the poors likely wouldn't.

It's like when a band busts out a deep cut that hasn't been played live in a long time. "Dude! We got a Schwarzenegger and Bad Apprentice Ratings! Woohoo!"

"Man, I saw Trump play live back in June 2018. He'd just finished his set and walked off the stage, but the crowd was screaming for more. 5 minutes later, a projection of the 2016 Election Map pops up on screen and he breaks right into an extended jam version of "Ungrateful Black Athlete" before closing it out with "The Central Park 5 are Still Guilty." The crowd went apeshit!!!!!!!"

  9. If you haven't seen it all, here are some of the lowlights:

    1. Says Jeff Sessions is just forced to follow the horrible laws that the Democrats enacted.

    2. Says the IG report, which was about FBI handling of Clinton investigation, completely exonerates him of colluding with the Russians. When pressed by reporters that it had nothing to do with that topic, keeps mumbling "read it, it's all in there. No collusion, no obstruction."

    3. Says Paul Manafort has nothing to do with the Trump campaign.

    4. Twice repeats the whopper about parents of Korean War KIA begging him to bring the remains home.

    5. Says nobody cares about the fake statement he dictated regarding the Trump Tower meeting b/c it was to the failing NY Times, not a tribunal of judges.

    6. Says Russia was kicked out of G8 "probably b/c Obama didn't like him."

Or the constant revisions down that quietly happened without so much as a peep from the MSM

God this talking point rears its idiotic head on every message board.

Every single jobs report, under every president goes through 2 scheduled revisions. Sometimes they get revised up, sometimes down.

It's not a goddamn conspiracy, and just about every MSM jobs report article you see each month will mention revisions to previous months.

  11. Tried the new La Vista 101 on 18th across from Hughies.

Pretty impressive transformation of an old Pizza Hut. There was close to a 45 minute wait Friday night, but we managed to find a high top near the bar and skip the wait.

Food was above-average, but not spectacular, and priced accordingly, IMO. Nice to have another mid-scale option in the area. Cost for appetizer, large entree for 2, decent bottle of wine and some very good tiramisu came out to right around $80.

  12. The 4th place A's (32-31) are the only team above .500 we face between now and the All-Star Break. We should be heavily favored in most of the next 31 games.

It's time to get fat at the trough over the next 5 weeks.

  13. Has anyone pointed it out how funny it is that the MAGA crowd were bending themselves into pretzels earlier this week trying to decode the mystery of what Strzok meant when he asked "did you get your oconus lures approved?" They were convinced that this was going to be the final piece they needed to prove that the FBI was putting spies on Trump as far back as December 2015.

It's literally a defined DOJ term in the US Attorney's Manual.

    9-15.630 - Lures

A lure involves using a subterfuge to entice a criminal defendant to leave a foreign country so that he or she can be arrested in the United States, in international waters or airspace, or in a third country for subsequent extradition, expulsion, or deportation to the United States. Lures can be complicated schemes or they can be as simple as inviting a fugitive by telephone to a party in the United States.

Some countries will not extradite a person to the United States if the person's presence in that country was obtained through the use of a lure or other ruse. In addition, some countries may view a lure of a person from its territory as an infringement on its sovereignty or criminal law. Consequently, a prosecutor must consult with the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and secure approval from the Criminal Division before undertaking a lure to the United States or a third country.

Dear God, we've FBI agents discussing apprehension of a suspect and whether or not it has been cleared. Scandal!!!!!!!!! It's Watergate times eleventy-billionl!!!

  14. Stumbled onto this band over the weekend. They're basically a Death tribute band. Everything from the guitar tones and constantly-changing tempo riffs down to the artwork seem ripped straight from Spiritual Healing or Symbolic.

The U.S. government has quietly asked Saudi Arabia and some other OPEC producers to increase oil production by about 1 million barrels a day, according to people familiar with the matter.

The rare request came after U.S. retail gasoline prices surged to their highest in more than three years and President Donald Trump publicly complained about OPEC policy and rising oil prices on Twitter.

"Looks like OPEC is at it again," Trump wrote in mid-April in a post on Twitter. "Oil prices are artificially Very High! No good and will not be accepted!"

The White House declined to comment on specific conversations, but a spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council said access to affordable and reliable energy underpins global economic growth and the nation’s security.

"We welcome any market-based action that increases energy access and fosters a healthy global economy," the spokesperson said.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin last month disclosed Washington had "various conversations with various parties about different parties that would be willing to increase oil supply to offset" the impact of U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil output.

Post Mem Day Vegas trip fog and haven’t kept up. What’s going on with prices?

Saudi and Russia both made comments over the weekend that they think the price rally has gone too far, too fast and are likely to announce  at their next meeting (6/22) that they'll be upping production anywhere from 300-800K barrels a day.

Also, rig count showed an increase of 15 rigs last week, 34 total in May. Biggest weekly/monthly increase in quite a while.
