  1. The serving problem is a bit of a head-scratcher.  At times this season, really most of the time, the serving was really good and much better than previous years.  So there seems to have been an obvious effort to improve.  But when they got in close, big matches, confidence dropped and the team tightened up and the serving went to shit.

I think that is a direct result of playing in a weak conference.  It's easy to play loose and free against inferior opponents.  The B1G prepares their teams better, because of the constant pressure cooker they play in on a regular basis.

I don't know how you solve it. They did schedule some tough non-con games but it's still not enough.  Some of the players just really struggle with the added pressure.

  2. Just a huge difference in the serve receive game between the two teams.   Between that and their two freshman hitters having the match of their lives…too much to overcome.

Also, and I think Salima mentioned it during the broadcast, Texas isn’t used to seeing the caliber of digs that Corn was getting.

Kubik is a good player but we should have a massive advantage on the pins against Nebraska.

Need Fields, Eggleston and Phillips to have a big match. Nebraska's block doesn't seem all that intimidating.

I don't know much about Illinois, but I thought Nebraska's block was pretty impressive in that match.  Even if they weren't blocking to the floor they were consistently sending the ball back to the Illini side or getting hands on their attack.  Seems like there was one rally when the Nebraska block sent the ball back 3 time in a row against the Illini's left pin.

I thought Corn looked pretty solid. Their defense is salty and we better slow down their middles. Block needs to show up.  I think it's going to be dogfight. Hope I'm wrong.

  4. We are one of the most hated programs in the country.  The richest, have our own network and perception of being the most arrogant.

Now there's blood in the water.  All these fucks are lining up to feed.  Even ex-players who have a personal bone to pick it appears.

The only positive thing i can say about Sarkisian at the moment is that Alabama's offense is clearly a lot shittier with that other shitpile they replaced him with. But that probably says more about the other guy.

May have something to do with the QB's as well.  Mac Jones is really accurate and had fantastic grasp of the offense.  Young is extremely talented but probably just isn't as far along yet.

  6. Does he qualify for the Gaskamp award this year?

He was highly rated coming out of high school, but pretty much fell off the map and almost transferred. So I think that qualifies him.

Texas was down two CBs. Both Barron and Ibraheem were wearing knee braces Saturday. Now Ibraheem may be RS'ing, but Barron was getting plenty of reps at CB. I didn't really see Crawford on Saturday. Texas might be playing with 3 CBs.

Yeah, what's the deal with Crawford.  I kept hearing how good he looked preseason, and how much upside he has, but he hasn't gotten much paying time this season.

  8. Look it's fairly obvious now that Casey has more poise, confidence and is better at managing the game than Card at this point.  But, Sark was evaluating these guys from practice and a Spring Game.  It was reported to be a very close call and an extremely tough decision.  Sark supposedly went with Card based on his ability to go through his progressions faster, which enabled him to get the ball out quicker and his ability to make accurate throws on the move when things broke down.  Card just isn't there yet mentally, might never be, who knows.

It's clear now Casey is the starter, but even after the UL game it looked like Card was going to be the guy.  You can make the argument that Sark should have pulled Card earlier in the Arkansas game and he probably should have, but I think he was trying to see if Card had settled down after halftime.

Posters claiming Sark made a monumental blunder by going with Card is just fucking stupid. But overreaction is what we do, so carry on I guess...

Yeah, Card played scared the whole game even before he wa s getting hit, and he scrambled outside the pocket way too often against 3 man rushed when he had plenty of time. Casey was so much more confident and decisive. That was the biggest difference and why Casey needs to start moving forward.

it would certainly be nice to have Quentin Johnston, but Worthy easily could’ve had 100+ yards on 3-4 catches if Card could get the deep ball anywhere near him.

Yep. He played scared from the first snap. That environment was too big for him, which is another reason why I always thought Casey should start the season. Between that factor and the Casey transfer risks, I figured Card must have been so much better than Casey in practice to start game 1, but I have a very hard ti believing that at this point. Either way, Casey keeps showing he can get it done in games. You have to start him moving forward or you’ll lose him and the locker room.

It's not possible to simulate big game environments with a hostile opponent, on the road, in practice.  Casey has maturity and composure, stuff that doesn't show up as well in practice.  Card's just not there yet.

Kinda like going from the driving range to the golf course. I hit it so well on the range...what the fuck happened?

Speaking of speed- if Blue doesnt work out I wish they would take a look at Major Everhart. He's just as fast as B Thompson and has great vision. 10.38 hundred meter, 21.42 two hundred. Thats elite speed.

Plus, he's teammates with 2023 Top 100 DL Avion Carter, who is going to give Texas a serious look.

I watched the Midland Legacy vs Amarillo Tascosa game.  I couldn't figure out why Tascosa didn't use Everhart more. Every time he touched the ball he looked like he could score. He had 4 rushes for 80 yards and 5 receptions for 92 yards, with 1 receiving and 1 rushing TD. Pretty efficient.

When have you ever seen a recruit do anything other than blatantly misdirect on Twitter right before an announcement?

Those are useless. They just put PK because he’s the position coach for edge rushers.

Glad to be wrong on this one. Bad read.

I thought there was some frustration coming from his side when there were a lot of picks coming in for Texas.

Crossposting from recruiting thread - From IT. Still seems pretty odd that he wouldn't play at either DT or Jack, but whatever..

DL Alfred Collins: There’s been some curiosity over why the talented sophomore hardly played even as the coaches went deep into the depth chart. All we can gather is it was ‘coaches decision’ and Collins isn’t in the dog house. We aren’t hearing of any acrimony between the two parties and we expect him to play much more on Saturday. It’s very likely he was told by the coaches he should have played more and they’ll rework their rotations going forward.

The situation isn’t entirely surprising given recent information. Even when he moved to Jack, we heard Jett Bush was still ahead of him and we even had Bush ahead of him on the depth chart. That isn’t to say it isn’t overall surprising the most genuinely talented defensive lineman on the roster isn’t playing more regardless of the position. It’ll work out. Nothing to worry about at this time. Alfred isn’t an emotional, knee-jerk sort of young man.

I don't know what the deal is with Collins but I hope he plays more this season.  His lack of playing time was the biggest head scratcher for me, assuming there isn't something going on with him that hasn't been released.

Jett was having a tough time holding the edge and was being handled fairly easily by whomever was blocking him.
