It was a terrible move because they now have two QBs they are committed to and don't get the cap benefit of Penix's rookie deal if the turns out to be good. They'll still be paying Cousins.

Yeah, this. No matter the logic about whether Penix was going to fall if you traded back, from a team building perspective you cannot give Cousins that contract and draft a qb in the top 10 in the same year. There is no rationale that makes it work.

Cousins is going to be on that roster for two seasons because of the dead money it would take to cut/trade him.

They picked Jordan Morgan out of Arizona

Speaking of WRs and Arizona, I think the Cards will take Worthy.

A two WR draft of Harrison and Worthy would be a lot of fun

Jax took Brian Thomas Jr. over AD or Worthy?  Odd choice.

I don’t really have a strong opinion on him either way, but on pretty much every mock draft and ranking I saw he was above them both.

Pretty good chance the Texas guys are the next two WRs to go, just depends on who wants a receiver

The optics of this seem..... not good. Rather than give Foster and Bobby Taylor the dignity of an exit interview with coaches and the option of first entering the transfer portal, the coaching staff "cut" these dudes. It's not a good look. VERY weird strategy here.

I’ve been thinking about how he handled the portal too. He brought in all that bread clearly thinking he’s was going to use the spring as an open tryout and they’ve had several guys cut that just transferred over in the winter.

I guess it’s possible that he was open with those guys about exactly what the opportunity was, and even if he wasn’t maybe it doesn’t matter in the portal era. It does seem kind of shitty to recruit multiple players to transfer to your program, use them as tackling dummies for one spring, and then tell them to find a new school 3 months later.

    My take on the QB's:

    • Ewers did not play well. As has been pointed out here, he just hasn't developed. I think Sark is pretty much done with him. Time for him to move on. Come to think of it, time for Sark to move on, too.
    • Manning is more poised, has a really good long ball and no one could lay a hand on him when he scrambled. He is already taller and better than Vince Young.
    • Owens should start over Manning until Lourd can get more experience.. He is really developed, has a really strong arm and better pocket presence than Manning. He looked amazing against the third-string defense.
    • Lourd is going to be the greatest QB in Texas Longhorn history and will be a first ballot NFL Hall of Famer.

    Did I get that right?

    Decommited from Texas, right?

Fuck around and find out, I guess.

I could be remembering wrong, but I think he was Sark’s first ever commitment. Wasn't he the guy that committed after the Bama NC right after we hired him?

Also I’m not sure how hard we were pushing for him to stay committed by the end.

i'd say its more like this year's team is 2008 and last year was 2009. this team should be more talented at every position group other than DT.

The room has plenty of potential, but last year’s pass catchers have to be considered better than what we’ll have this year too.

That should be offset by better QB/OL play

No, it would take place in the 80s or 90s depending upon which decade the writer/director grew up in and romanticizes.

ABC did a new version of The Wonder Years with an African American family. It was still set in the 60s.

It just depends on who’s making it. Linklater was 33 when Dazed came out. He set it the year the graduated, 1976. George Lucas set American Graffiti the year he graduated high school too (1962), and it came out when he was 29 (1973).

So yeah, if a filmmaker in his early 30s was making their version, it would be set in the mid to late aughts and all the characters would be tweeting and bumping Black Eyed Peas songs.

Hanging onto Gullette shouldn't even be an issue, but the new staff structure and expanded roles for folks is leaving the impression that some folks are overwhelmed and Texas is at risk of losing some players they really shouldn't and don't want to lose.

    This is regarding losing Glasscock?

Rasika would be a shoe-in to win it all if Padma was still there

Maybe, it seemed like she was also the most nit-picky when someone tried to do Indian food. That may have mainly been when a white person went for those flavors though.

once again you are blinded by a single run from a single game

Foreman went 9 for 117 in the 2015 OU game.

81 of that came on one play. he was not touched until he was 10 yards down the field, a guy got 1 arm on him there. then another guy dove at his ankles and he shrugged that off and then he wasn't touched again until he was tackled. this was a bad OU defense. Heard attempted 11 passes, Texas completed 9 passes for 55 yards and rushed it 58 times. Texas won 24-17.

Foreman didn't outrun anyone lol. he had an 81 yard run and was tackled from behind at the 10 yard line with 3 dudes around him that all would have tackled him

    image.png.54fba2badefec4a69b5b625e71675bc0.png

    here's the 3 guys associated with that tackle (10, 13, 15)

    image.png.cb774f582e87c7f08f256d40ce3ad82b.png

that touch happened with 10 seconds in the 3rd Q. that was his last touch of the game as Texas salted away the win with Heard (21 carries) and Gray (22 carries)

the rest of the game he had 8 carries for 36 yards, or 4 yards per carry.

dude was an incredible player at Texas. not denying that at all, but that single run is stuck in your mind as some kind of wild play where he ran away from a bunch of little dudes is absolutely incorrect.

JGray played behind that same shitty offensive line on the same stupid offense and his longest run that season was 26 yards. Putting your foot in the ground and exploding through a hole quickly is a skill and not all running backs have it.

Foreman showed he had it early in his career. So far, Blue has flashed it as well
