GWB and Perry were somewhat aligned with an average Texas republican. The new crew are all MAGA level crazy and that isn't aligned with the average Texan.

I think you’re dead wrong on that last sentence. Just look at the recent/ongoing bloodbath in the state gop primaries where even semi maga assholes got railroaded by Shelley Luther.

  2. Admittedly Im a fan of black pepper rub on bbq, hurtado (8th Ave) pork ribs absolutely destroyed my one trip to ribbees. Slightly better deal to boot. Not overly impressed with the rest of hurtado’s meat offerings but those ribs were real deal.

  3. The funny/not funny thing is prepare for the tax rates to go up as we’re seeing commercial values either come down from prior year or stay level for the most part. Wilco slashed about a billion of hard taxable value off the apartments alone comparing 23 value to 24 notice value, so it’ll be much more than a billion after appeals.

for context a billion of taxable value is like 20k homes getting $50k taxable (homestead capped number) slashed.

From what I can gather, public schools in "good school" areas as you call them, are funded by bonds that the people vote for. At least that is what one disgruntled teacher told me this week when I asked, "how is like Prosper building a $90 million dollar foosball stadium and Richardson ISD is closing like 4 schools because they are broke". It seems that areas are voting bonds in while waiting on Abbott to release funds that have been locked up for like 2 years now?

On a more granular level I’m talking specific school boundaries within districts. In Fort Worth for example there’s only ~3 elementary schools worth a damn, and the rest are pure shit. (Probably similar to Dallas with Lakewood elementary and the one near lower Greenville)

if you’re in the good boundary your home has a premium, literally one block over exact same house and it’s piss, or shit, your call.

School issues aside, there are counties in Texas that could be consolidated. No one can justify Loving county with 50 residents.

I bet the folks running the county beg to differ. I need to dig up an article about a county like that where a single family runs the county and all the oil money that flows from it.
