  1. Always a great day. im trying to think now how I'm going to convince my wife that trading my '17 GMC for a '19 GMC is a good idea. Come on EPA MPG!
  2. I'll pay for private school before I let one of my kids go aggy.
  3. Forgot to point that out. That's why we went to Fort Davis instead. also Star Party was a bit of a letdown because of weather (cloudy) but they still made it fun and interesting, and we still got to look through the telescopes at what was visible (mostly just Jupiter and Venus).
  4. Just got back. Thanks to everyone that provided recommendations because I totally used them and have surly the credit. Here's a recap: shared a house using airbnb with some friends (pink adobe) planet marfa for happy hour was awesome. Super friendly staff and a great beer garden atmosphere. Capri for dinner. Had a fantastic meal and an awesome Mezcal based old fashion. Once again, amazing service. Chinati foundation was a little disappointing. Really liked the metal junk welds at the warehouse in downtown though. foodshark was great but slow as hell. walked around downtown and the square and popped into a random free andy Warhol exhibit Big Bend was badass. We got in one long hike partly up a mountain (shade!) and then drove down near boquillas for a short hike to see the river and canyon (104 degrees!). Went to the basin for a cold beer then headed to terlingua star light theater for dinner. That was a huge hit. Once again, phenomenal service. The locals were just getting plowed outside and playing songs, which made it feel like it was still an old west mining town. Prada seemed unnecessarily far from town. Fort Davis was a pretty boring fort but cool history in their little museum. St George pool is free and open to the public after 4pm, and they have a bar! That was a great spot for a dip. Marfa Burrito was legit but didn't hold a candle to Alicia's in Alpine where I stopped for lunch on the way back home. Big thank you for that recommendation. Note- they only take CASH. Same for food shark.
  5. Leslie's is such trash. went there today bc it's right by my house, i needed some liquid chlorine and a filter, and my normal pool shop closes at 6pm (pool zoom on 281 in SA) and it was 6:15. no one in the store except a guy that's been there for awhile already I could tell trying to return a bottle of algeacide for a bigger bottle. He was there twenty minutes bc the cashier refused to sell him the new bottle without taking the old bottle off of his "rewards" account. Cashier couldn't figure it out and accused the man of lying about his rewards account. They start arguing back and forth about how ridiculous the whole situation was. Finally their transaction is over and I'm thoroughly entertained but want to add fuel to the fire bc I hate Leslie's and more customers had walked in and I wanted them to hear me say "hey buddy, next time go to Pool Zoom. They have better chemicals, lower prices, and know what they're doing." cashier says "next" with a groan. i ask "do you match Amazon prices bc they have the same pleatco filter you're selling at $120 for $45." he yells "No!" and I walked out. Ordered my filter on prime. Will get chemicals at my local pool shop this weekend instead.
  6. Thanks man
  7. I don't know why people are saying it's dry/drought stricken. This place gets tons of rain and has the live oaks to prove it.
  8. Also, to keep it real, Austin is an amazing city. But the nice thing about living in SA is that it's a 1hr drive away, so you want to go to a UT game, the schmuck in Round Eock has to drive 30 minutes and I have to drive 65 minutes. He lives in a flat prairie suburb, I live in gorgeous northern SA.
  9. You're forgetting BASIS, which will be one of the best high schools in the United States in a few years.
  10. I've lived all over Texas and SA is by far my favorite stop. I wouldn't want to live here in my 20's though. It's a little too chill. Fiesta Pearle spurs culture civic pride hills and trees mission reach museum reach proximity to hill country like Fredericksburg, garner, enchanted rock, wimberley, horseshoe bay, new braunfels river floating, etc also closest bi city to south padre, marfa, big bend, tons of state parks. easy drive to Austin or Houston. cheap cost of living Traffic is really light except in the burbs tex mex is best in the world great restaurant scene without the hipsters And anyone that says it's hot is an idiot. houston hotter bc it's a swamp dallas hotter bc of concrete and no trees SA is heavily on trees, hills, and swimming spots. summer is great here. Winter is amazing here

    Kayaking

Cheap pelican 12ft from Costco. It did great down the SA river. Did not enjoy having to Beach it to rescue the kid when his kayak got stuck in the chutes 3 times.
  14. KD is the best player on the best team in the NBA. I'd say his decision was brilliant.
  15. Picked up some Ilegal Mezcal this weekend. Very nice. Highly recommend.
  16. I think we sign Kawhi to supermax if it is part of a deal with another star FA we pursue. Kawhi-LMA-LeBron Boom!
  17. Thanks mom and dad for giving each other 23 and me for Christmas. Now I can't commit mass murder! but seriously, this is how the braved new world starts? People volunteering their DNA for scrutiny?

Can we get back to learning about the sleazy dealings of hannity?
  19. Anyone changed their mind yet?
  20. I just finished a freakonomics 2 part series on the tax cuts. Basically, both sides' economists agree that the corporate tax rate needed to be reduced and that cranking up the standard deduction makes things a lot simpler. it technically adds 1.5T to the deficit, but that's only if the cuts aren't permanent. Therefore it's really 3T cut. dems argue that theres not simply not enough roi on the cuts bc they're too broad, and they could have got the same benefit with less extreme cuts. also huge risk of higher income people LLC'ing to take advantage of pass through rates.
  21. Helping coal miners by letting them get f'd by sleazy lenders. MAGA Tired of winning drain the swamp
  22. Any thoughts on the new scarab rotax jet boats?
