I don't have to integrate with dumb people. I have got better things to do in life. He was not just disagreeing with me. He has been hostile towards me and has shown very little reading compression in my opinion. I am not going to waste my time trying to understand him or his ilk.

Every press release this company has had is techbro bullshit. They are hyping up the same thing with elephants and saying they will make mammoths. When you see the next one from the same company, it's going to be bullshit too. What this company is doing is not science, it's pumping up their share price.

They used a program called CRISPR to make 20 edits to 14 genes (out of at least 20,000 functional genes) of a modern gray wolf. It's not 99.9% gray wolf, it's a gray wolf.

@LTbear might have more insight, but it doesn't look at all like a dire wolf to me. My favorite museum display in the world is at the La Brea Tar Pits. ~400 dire wolf skulls all mounted on the same backlit wall. I couldn't calculate the number of hours I've spent looking at the variation between those skulls. The snout of these gray wolves is way too small and gracile.

Plus, recent DNA work (2021) suggests that modern wolves are not the closest living relatives of dire wolves. Dire wolves are evolutionarily closer to jackals and African wild dogs than modern wolves. We share more DNA with chimpanzees than wolves share with dire wolves.

Here's a pdf of the Nature paper. https://tinylink.net/gHM90

    Science magazine's take. https://www.science.org/content/article/legendary-dire-wolf-may-not-have-been-wolf-all

That pdf is freely available online and got enough publicity that Colossal is definitely aware of it.

If they wanted to be accurate, they should have modified jackal DNA to reconstruct this, but that wouldn't generate an absurd share price for the company.

Spot on here. They're barely tweaking a modern wolf genome, which is already about as closely related to a dire wolf as I am to an orangutan. Coyotes are dramatically closer to a wolf than a dire wolf is. (For those that find this odd, just realize that dire wolves are called dire wolves because the first time we found their bones, they "looked" like large, off wolves, but as @Pods pointed out, the DNA evidence has now shown they're actually much more distantly related.)

This research is interesting in some respects, but it is not even 10% of what the headlines are making it out to be.

How are things in Gardiner, the town built to service yellowstone tourism, making out?

    Eat shit, gardiner.

Just to say it: I'm in Yellowstone about 100 days a year. The old and natural residents of Gardiner  - the ones who are working in and around the park - are overwhelmingly blue. The rich as fuck assholes who have moved here in droves, buying up land up and down Paradise Valley just north of Gardiner - that's where the MAGATS are.

Low key humble brag on upgrading to the shitty 6.2L motor.

Two company vehicles here went boom.

Yep, as soon as it happened I found a few random websites and Reddit posts complaining about issues with the the new 6.2. Dealer wanted to replace the engine and give me my car back and I immediately noped out and bought the 4Runner.

I'd take the 10-year old Toyota over the brand new Chevy.

I bought a new Chevy Tahoe last year, one of the higher packages. At just over 10,000 miles, the engine completely blew. Catastrophic engine failure. Got the money back, bought an upgraded 4runner and used the rest on travel. Best decision I ever made.

Repetitive and predictable? Like Baylor's inability to follow the teachings of Jesus?

Have you watched Stats' posts? Yes, predictable, repetitive, etc. I didn't even read all of his post - saw "Baylor" and my eyes rolled backwards. Seeing as Baylor has nothing to do with the topic at hand, it was/ is just such a moronic attempt at diversion from the topic at hand - in this case, his own inability to form a coherent argument.

Baylor is a pissant program that had been freeriding on UT for decades, hypocritically claiming to be of higher morals while demonstrating it was happy to break any rule or law if doing so brought more wins.

Its basketball program paid players illegally for decades, going sometimes to criminal lengths to hide it.

Its football program paid tens of millions of dollars to buy rape victims’ silence, so it wouldn’t have to admit that the program’s greatest teams were built on a culture of gang rape.

    Is that logically coherent?

Can you succinctly explain why you think I would/ should care about the repetitive and predictable slop an internet nobody like yourself continues to put out? Obviously I got under your skin, and I didn't even try to.

Your original argument wasn't about Iowa's schedule or being integrated.  It was about LSU losing their bowl game.  Which didn't happen.

If being progressive with integration is enough to qualify for a natty, then ISU should claim 1923.

Statsman isn't known for making logically coherent arguments.

I might be dumb, but my point is things aren't as cut and dry as the creator of that map / post would want you to believe.

Anyone with a half functioning brain who's even remotely paid attention to elections for the past two decades can easily parse the minutia of the map while still understanding the central thesis. And it may well be that the mapmaker understands this, and that your assumptions of what they "want you to believe" is just your own defensiveness rapidly bubbling to the surface.

What is an intelligent person supposed to take from this map?  I'm sure you're trying to make some point here, but I'm not sure exactly what it is?

Hey dumbfuck, you've had days to reply to simple questions, during which time you've been posting here plenty. Pussy ass coward, like all Trumpers. Fucking joke.

You are one post away from serious time off. Knock it the fuck off.

Just do it. Like all Trumpers, @Incredulity is both a sniveling coward and an utter snowflake who runs from answering any real question that involves math or logic, and he sticks around simply to troll and shitpost because somewhere in his simple brain he knows there is no reasonable defense for Trump and his admin.
