  1. Looking at tickets now and it's been several years since I've been.  Questions -- are there any areas / sections to avoid on the TX side?  Are you obstructed if you're low in the end zone?  I know those typically aren't the best for seeing the plays develop but I'll have a 10 and 11 year old with me who will prefer being close to the action even if it's not the best view for seeing plays develop etc.  Better to be higher up in lower section or lower in upper section or does it matter?  Any specific sections better than others?
We're in either Sect 9 or 10 this year, row 5ish. At least one of my kids will be with me and they're around that age but I'm not sweating being in a low row. Some views will be blocked but it also can be fun if you've never sat that close during a tx/ou game
  2. Yeah, not even close - Columbus before the game was way, way worse than Tuscaloosa after the game. Columbus was the only time I’ve ever been to a city as a visiting fan (including pretty much every stadium in the AFC as an Oilers fan) that I was pretty sure I was going to be assaulted after the game…
Yep, I remember avoiding large buckeye groups before the game and it was like nam after the game...pepper spray, bags of piss being thrown, spit, smoke bombs, burning couches ...basically a mix of rust belt inbreds and jersey shore

CTJ mentioned some hostiles after the bama game, so I was curious if it was similar to the 05 ohio st game. Doesn't sound like it..

Not sure where to post this, but here's a breakdown of my personal experience with their miserable fucking fans this past weekend. I've spoilered it for the TL;DR crowd.

I've been to Tuscaloosa for a game before. Our buddies hosted @SydneyCarton, myself and the guy that made the Greg Davis 3rd and 5 graphic for the Alabama/UF game in 2014. Our friends gave us Bama gear and we were good sports and wore it. I bought a grey hat with the crimson elephant logo on it, which I still have and think is pretty cool unto itself. We went to tailgates and bars and the fans were nice, if rowdy. So, I figured I knew what to expect.

This time around, I just went with my wife. We landed in Birmingham and drove in to town and stayed on Friday night. That evening, while on the wait at Chuck's Fish (which is excellent), we were greeted, and conversed with repeatedly, by well-meaning and very friendly Bama fans. High class folks with their greek children and their friends in tow, all wishing us well and telling us how much they "all like Steve so much". My wife said to me, "wow, these are great fans. they really are shockingly nice hosts."

It was then that I told her she might a) be misreading what was happening and b) to just wait until tomorrow for a better picture. On a), my point was that these folks, who were certainly nice, were doing so because they simply expected to win and viewed us as a novelty. On b), she got to see everything for herself in sharp relief on Saturday, as did I. This time, wearing UT gear, the gameday fans treated us completely differently.

I've been to the RRS many times. Watched a game in the Rose Bowl versus USC. Been to Morgantown, College Station (many times), UH, JerryWorld, Fayetteville, the Cotton Bowl, and various other bowl match-ups. Measured against all of those groups, I don't know that I've ever encountered another group of fans on gameday that were a worse representation of the human species.

The amount of hillbillies and frat and sorority dipshits screaming "horns down!" at the top of their lungs while putting the horns down sign one inch from your face was absurd. I didn't see any longhorns giving a shit other than when one of those rubes touched them with the gesture. "Fuck Texas!!!" "Kill yourself if you're from Texas!!" and other comments along the same lines are not comments I've had thrown in my face repeatedly alongside any other fanbase. These are bottom scraping pieces of human shit.

After the game, things only got worse. We walked back to our car alone and for the first time in my life as a fan, there were several moments in which I was legitimately concerned that we were about to get jumped. This while just walking and saying nothing. Frat guys, white trash buddies with beers in their hands telling my wife she should come hang out with Bama men, a mixed group of face-tatted likely ex-convicts telling me to get the fuck out of their state, and one guy from Sling Blade who tried to fight me while screaming "FUCK TEXAS!!!" at the top of his lungs and standing 6'5", 400 pounds.

That entire fanbase is a collection of entitled bitches who can't handle a loss. They're a pathetic group of dipshits best only visited in larger numbers coming and going than just one dude and one female. Note to self and others when we go back in 2025, 2026, or 2027.

Did you go to Columbus in 05?  If not, I'd like to hear from anyone who did and also attended this last weekend.  Curious on the comparison because I find it hard to believe anything could be worse than Columbus.  The comment about being just with the wife and not with a large group made me think of that 05 game.  One thing I noticed with those buckeye morons and I bet it applied with the bama yokels as well, was that they usually didn't say anything to you if you were a huge dude or 6'0"+.  Pussies usually operate that way, especially in large groups.

  4. Not dead.
She's in the "World between worlds."
    Nerd mode: engage:
It's a plane of existence that exists between space/time. It was the original mode of faster-than-light travel in the SW universe before hyperspace travel was invented. It's accessible to some - but not all - force sensitive beings (both Jedi and Sith) from certain locations in the galaxy that are "inflection" or "nexus" points for the Force ... and typically there have been ancient temples built in those spots.
Ezra was able to access it in Star Wars Rebels and used it to essentially rescue Ashoka when she was dueling with Vader.
There's a lot of talk of it being "time travel" added to Star Wars but I don't think that's the intention. I think the idea is more akin to the "closed loop" time travel theory; e.g. Ezra didn't really "save" Ashoka or change anything by using the World between Worlds because that was always the thing that had happened.
I'm probably not explaining it very well but that's the concept.

  5. Just finished with the selection process (it was easy).  I wanted Section 9 under the overhang, like I’ve had the past few years, but I chose Section 10. The available seats in 9 were a higher than I’ve had, so I went with Row 51 one section over. I didn’t want to risk columns being in my sight line.
My wife’s roommate’s dad was a SWC ref back in the 80s, and he gave them his comp seats in 1981. They were good seats except they were directly behind a column.
Around what row does overhang start? Columns?
  6. I think many were relieved to see her getting on a plane, hopefully less scenes now.  If she was the best audition for that character, yeesh... As someone mentioned, the mumbling baby voice was our main issue...and the terrible acting but other than that she was fine.

  7. Has aggy weatherman never driven a vehicle before?
Any moron could have forseen the Prius coming over, even if he hadn't used his blinker, and literally all he had to do was take his foot off the gas for a second and he would have made enough room for him to safely merge.
That's why I support the verdict of "both assholes", no one at fault. Other than being assholes.
  8. From what I could see...I think prius mma bro assumed weather aggy would slow down and let him cut in, like most people do instead of letting their cars get hit.  Still an asshole move by prius but it happens daily with shitty Austin drivers and you need to be a defensive driver at all times in this town of shit drivers. Prius is probably at fault by law but weather aggy didn't do a great job of avoiding a very avoidable collision.  If anything, it looks like the meteorologist spots him, keeps speeding up, tries to swerve to the left to not let him in and then just rear ends him.  I wouldn't be shocked if a practical cop/judge said "no fault" just because the aggy appeared to be equally as much of a dick.  Prius bro fucked that all up though by throwing hands, no matter how snarky the aggy's reply was or how punchable of a face he has.  More chill, less fists...

  9. was forced through the crescent-shaped opening measuring 60 centimetres (24 in) long created by the jammed interior trunk door. With the escaping air and pressure, it included bisection of his thoracoabdominal cavity, which resulted in fragmentation of his body, followed by expulsion of all of the internal organs of his chest and abdomen, except the trachea and a section of small intestine, and of the thoracic spine. These were projected some distance, one section being found 10 metres (30 ft) vertically above the exterior pressure door.[
