Greatest American songwriter? That may be a little far.
But he should hold the title of Most Interesting Man in the World:
- Golden Gloves boxer.
- Rhodes Scholar
- Fought forest fires
- Ranger training and Airborne school
- Army helicopter pilot
- West Point Instructor
- Helicopter taxi to oil rigs
- Landed a helicopter on Johnny Cash’s lawn
- Song Writer
- Music Star
- Movie Star
- Grammy Award winner
- Golden Globe winner
- Academy Away nominee
And that's after 30 seconds of searching. A true American badass.

aggy is really bad this year in baseball. They should have lost 1 to Fordham and 2 of those games were close.
Fordham was spanked this weekend by V-Tech who won't even be a regional team.
My guess is aggy won't even make the SEC tournament this year in baseball (like last season).
Say it again…. But slower.my joy in their futility is what really makes the world worth living in. I realize we have huge problems in this country and abroad, but aggy and their ineptitude ain’t one of them.

LA Times article/video on the presence of great whites near SoCal beaches. Terrifying
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-05-04/spying-on-california-great-white-sharks-with-drones
The real issue is these great whites that come up close to the beach are juvenile sharks and are just starting to distinguish what is prey and what is not. They pretty much go after anything they think they can get. It wouldn’t be so bad but these juveniles are like 10 plus footers. -

From the article - “It was terrible. I am shaking,” he told ABC. “I keep vomiting. It’s very, very upsetting.”
I giggled.. then thought of this.

TIL the Corps allows members to wear their Eagle Scout ribbon on their uniform.
Good for the Corps, but it feels like that denigrates the Eagle Scout program.
That boy looks twelve..

I never knew being a roustabout required a four-year degree from trade school.
Then again, I never knew being a chicken farmer required the same.
One question about the statue - did anyone check to see if the sculptor included a cut-out in the guy's work glove so his aggy ring could be seen?
Also - Since I was under the impression that aggy has solved the problem of cold fusion.. Is oil drilling even a requirement to provide an energy source? Maybe they should invest in some statue where an old dude turns lead into gold.. ?

Csb. When my boy was playing pop Warner we are in the stands watching. One row back or so I hear his voice and it was Ron. His grandson played with my boy. We talked to whole game about UT and the SWC. One of the nicest men I’ve ever met.

Well, I know *that* about traditional country. I've listened to the greats, but it's not like my family played it consistently on the radio growing up. (That would be classical.)
Ahhhh.. And so ends the lesson then..
Too funny.. guess I will get back to work

You can follow the path of traditional country music by generation.
2nd Generation - Roy Acuff and the Mountain Influence and Honkey Tonk w/ Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell

That was nice. I don't know much about traditional country, but I'd describe his voice as a "honey baritone", like Vince Gill has a "honey tenor". Just a really, really nice tone. I could listen to that guy all night in a place like Gruene Hall. Thanks for posting it.
@jimmyjazz Traditional country starts here with the father of country music - Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family (w/ June Carter) and the 'Carter Scratch'

That was awesome. The first three beats. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for him. How does Whispering Bill have more hair than me? FML.
If it don't got those first three beats.... I ain't listening.. I don't think Bill's hair is "real" -

@Lat22 Hey - Check this out - Mo Pitney.. Think he's 22 or so. Takes a bit to get there. He is his take on the Cherokee Cowboy's "Don't you ever get tired of hurting me"
